Just in: new Tank powersets

I can't count the number of times that I was told that tanks would NEVER get super reflexes because it would be ridiculously overpowered and far too easy to softcap.

So I'll throw in a nice HAAAAha.

I thought it was an interesting choice as well for that reason.

Did you get a look at the proposed changes to EA?

I did. It just went from laughable to well now that's interesting.

Threw the cottage rule out there a few times, didn't they?

SR/ will definitely be good on Tankers (maybe too good), but it's a welcome addition.

Ok so what changes are for the SR for tanks it did not mention it at all.

SR on Tankers: able to get to over 40% Defense with just the basic armors and SOs. 43%% with CJ. Easy to soft-cap? I think so.

None are needed, if they just gave us the Brute version.

My guess is none. They already added a Taunt aura to Evasion and moved it up in the power selection when they ported SR to Brutes, so it should be good to go.

IMO, the only remaining question is whether they are just going to apply the Tank resist/defense modifiers to the current scrapper/brute numbers, or make some adjustments so it's not quite so easy to soft-cap.

I'm betting a straight copy/paste from Brute SR. The ease of softcapping "should" be offset by the additional aggro tanks generate.

Here are what I expect the numbers to be:

Toggles: 18.5% base
Passives: 7.5%

ED capped value for M/R/A = 40.56% defense w/ SOs.

Add tough for more S/L dam-res to stack on to the passive scaling dam-res and weave for another 7.8% w/ SO defense and you're over the softcap.

Would have preferred Energy Aura (Primary) and Spines (Secondary), but I'll take what I can get. I'm just happy that they're proliferating something.

SR Tankers will have a lot of spare slots for sure. Plenty of fun possibilities.

No. Softcapped defenses are nice, and scaling resistances might be more useful on a tank, but that's not enough.

And "Easy to get Softcap"

A Shield Defense tank can take to take 8 powers to softcap.
Deflection, Battle Agility, Phalanx Fighting, (fighting pool tier 1), Tough, Weave, Maneuvers, Combat Jumping. (The Shield Defense tank will have a place to slot Steadfast Protection: Res/Def)

If the Tanks get the 18.5% from toggles and 7.5% from passives, they'll have to take at least 7 powers to soft cap.

I think Shield Defense has more survival tools than Super Reflexes and it's ranked as one of the weaker Tanker sets. I don't think that Super Reflexes will provide the necessary offensive bonuses to justify that.

If they just port it over from Brutes, it's not going to be as durable as it needs to be.

This. 1000 times this.
SR is going to need more than just defenses to be something tolerable for Tanks. There are plenty of ATs that can hit softcap and most of them will have alternative mitigation for survival.

I'm thinking higher starting point and values for the resists in the auto powers... maybe higher HP too. They have to be careful, though. Too much alteration and SR will look less like SR and more like WP.

Yeah because we all know SR scrappers are just so squishy

Arcanaville's suggestion was to add a self-heal and a +max hp (that can stack from the same caster) to Practiced Brawler.
