Seriously: WHY....

.... For verily I say unto you, WHY IS IT THUS!:

.... Finally, at last and about time too, the Rikti have given up their stranglehold on all costume pieces with glowing lines on them. AT LAST we get our little grubbies on some glowing lines, and they're pretty darn cool, too. That Ascension belt might just be the coolest costume piece ever.

HOWEVER!....

WHY DO MALES NOT GET ACCESS TO THE ASCENSION "ARMOR" BOOT?!!!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Those over-the-knee Ascension boot models with the sexy straps crossing the back of the knee are, well, SEXELLENT. Men need them! They want them! Why is sexellence reserved for females?!

[I do like the male Ascension boot as well. But seriously: make with the Ascension Armor boot for guys.]

Art designers are afraid of giving men any sort of boot that goes above the knee, I guess.

..That may be why they did it, but if so that is a seriously retarded reason. That's not a thigh-high boot in the traditional sense; and even if it WERE, men were wearing thigh-high boots for centuries before women got hold of them.

Men need this boot. I say the development team should make it happen.

Yeah, that's just adorable Smiley-Girl. Guess what? I am female too. I have both male and female alts, and I love them equally.

However I have male alts that want the Ascension Armor boot. All the smileys in the world ain't gonna change that, kthxbi.

I feel for you. I have a male character that would love to have a shoulder kitty as his Familiar. I also want shoulder Parrots.

I pointed this out (read *******/complained) about this back in beta. Of all the Ascended parts, those boots are probably the only ones I'd ever really bother unlocking. Since they don't work on males though, I won't even do that.

I refuse to unlock any of the non-ascension stuff just on the principle that generic stuff like that SHOULDN'T BE LOCKED AT ALL.

Well Oath, you can get them for the women on your character-roster for a whopping three Empyrean merits - and I suggest doing it: this is the only flat boot my chicks will wear, everyone else is in heels. Really, having seen them both I think I prefer the "plain" Ascension pieces. They still glow, but are not as OUT THERE....

I'd say giving male characters access to the Armor boot is a lot less gender-bending than stuff like male shoulder kittens and females chomping cigars. That;s why I dont think it would be a stretch to make it happen for us. What do you say, developers...? Pwwwweeeeeeaaaaaaseeeee?????!!

I know more women who smoke cigars than men.

And I want a shoulder kitty damn it.

Thing is, none of these options are 'gender bending' in the slightest.

But then, I want male skirt options, though I'd only use long skirts.

The Competition allows for male skirt options, I wish my favourite super hero mmo did too.

There will not be true justice for all until there are cigars for shoulder kitties.

Wearing armor above the knees was actually a subtle way of showing that one was homosexual in medieval times.

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

Not that there's anything inherently wrong with that, but it also means that virtually every knight and nobleman in medieval times who even merely trained for combat was gay.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

I'll make you a deal: Your male characters can have the awesome boots if my female characters can have the baron coat. More equality in both directions, please.

Uhhh, source for that one please, and please make it a reputable one.

I have to say that at this time I give that idea like.... zero creditability.

I have no problem with females receiving access to the Baron coat, but we're less likely to get that since the Magic stuff was a thing we paid for. However the Ascension stuff does not cost us a thing in real-world money, so they're not losing any of that by giving men access to the Ascension Armor boot. I have to say that this disparity in the boot genuinely puzzles me. What would the motivation possibly be for female-only access?! Makes no sense....

My brief attempt to find some sort of source found nothing.

I think Vanden was making some kind of attempt at humor, as though men who hid their flesh behind protective metal were pansies while the crazy Scots and Germans that ran at their enemies buck naked while their skin is painted green or black respectively were "real men."
