I dont like how everyone gets Going Rogue free. I payed for my Going Rogue and i think we should get are money back or a free month of game play or something. Its not right to have people pay for somthing then just give it out free to everyone Thats BS and thay need to do something for the people who payed for it.

Does it suck it's happening this soon after release? Sure. There was a longer period of time before the people who bought COV separately saw everyone get it - and I *guarantee* I paid more for COV than you did for GR, since I got the collectors edition at release. But "Everyone" isn't getting it. People who are *paying* are. And if we looked at the numbers, I'd *suspect* a good chunk of subscribers have already BOUGHT GR anyway.
Is it a surprise it's happening? Nope. It was expected by many here that GR would be "rolled into" the main COH/COV "package" eventually.
By the time I21 goes live, it'll very likely be over a year since GR launched.

Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.
Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.
Redrum: Do you have any characters that have the new powersets? Any characters that switched sides? Any Praetorians? Any Incarnates?
If yes, then you got something already for your purchase of GR. People wh didn't buy it couldn't do any of these things, and still can't until the new Issue goes live.
Did you buy the Complete Collection? Because if you did, you already GOT your free month. I know I did.
If you bought a car, and a year later you drove past the dealership and saw the same car for $2,000 less, would you demand that the dealer give you the difference, or fill your gas tank for free for a month? Because that's not how it works. Purchasing something is not a guarantee against future price reductions, even if that reduction is 100%.
@Roderick
It might be nice for the Devs to offer a little something for those who bought GR (when the switch to COHF happens), if only because of how soon its happening compared to its release. Nothing major, maybe just award them some extra points to spend or something.
They don't have to, but it would be nice.
Always remember, we were Heroes.
I've seen this argument before, more or less, in response to things like Pre-order bonus items. "I bought this extra expensive version, or one from a specific store, *just* to get this bonus item, and now everyone can have it. That makes me really mad, and I feel ripped off." Except... why?
The car example occurred to me too. If you run out and buy a car right off the lot, you'll probably need to take out a long term loan just to pay for it. If you wait three years, you can find the *exact* make and model of car for a fraction of that price. In fact, even during the same year, the price will probably drop for cars still in the showroom - if you get a car as soon as the new model comes out, you're going to pay a lot more than someone who waits a year and gets it during the clearance sale when the dealer makes room for the new version.
Another example would be the iPhone. I seem to remember that people stood in line for days to get that when it first came out, and Apple basically immediately set out to make a better more powerful version and sell it for less money. That's the price of being an early adopter.
In the case of digital content, what you're paying for isn't "Ha ha, I got this and you can never, ever have it!" exclusivity. You're paying for exclusive access to it *before* anyone else. There is no promise that they'll never package the item/bonus/DLC as part of a Game of the Year edition, or bundle it in with a future patch. (And if it does get into a GoTY edition, I promise you that someone who's really patient can buy the game *and* every addon for less than you paid for any single DLC when it came out.) The difference is, you got to enjoy that game and DLC for a long time before Big Mega bundle goes on clearance sale.
The same thought did cross my mind as I just resubbed for 7-year anniversary and then bought GR and a couple of boosters.
However, in line with what Roderick states in his post - my main will have his incarnate slots open and slotted up by the time this happens so it was worth it for me to buy the expansion.
UNION @Flitz 50, Lead Hose 50, Red Rag 50
DEFIANT Rose Bloodthorn 34
VIGILANCE Captain Caledonia 20 - Yeah, I made toons on the French server coz we only had 4 back then (might have to transfer/recreate them on one of the US servers)
..and many more!
By the time Freedom comes to live and VIPs get the GR package, the expansion pack would have been live for roughly year and a half.
CoV became free roughly two years after launching i believe? So we knew it was a matter of time before they gave GR for free, plus if you are that bothered about it think of it like this . . . .
You will have had months [possibly year at least depending when you bought it] of incarnates/praetoria/rogue fun well before the Freedom peeps.

i know this much, i wont bother buying anymore paid expansions if they're just gonna keep giving them away to subscribers.

I dont think the next paid expansion will be coming any time soon

Just returned to the game and sure I bought new packs and GR. No matter that now all paying players will get it, I already had plenty of fun with GR. Well worth the small fee imo.
Stupid sense of self-entitlement written in bolded letters aside, I'm more than happy to have paid for Going Rogue when it came out (rather, about four months BEFORE it came out) and enjoyed its benefits since then, and for however long it takes before Freedom launches. I paid so I wouldn't have to wait a year plus, and it was money well spent.
A good lesson not just for games but for anything in life is that NOTHING you will ever buy comes with an unbreakable guarantee that other people will never get it for less money than you did down the line.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

The CoV expanshalone launched October 27, 2005. You couldn't play blueside unless you bought it seperately or vice versa.
The Good Vs Evil edition that combined CoH and CoV in the same package launched September 29, 2006.
That's 1 year later. Not really a big difference between that and this.
Edit: However I think it's possible the OP is having buyers remorse. I think it's possible he's a brand new player that is upset because he just found out that if he waited a few months he could have been playing the game for free instead of buying it.
I would personally like it if some parts of GR were made PP purchasable to people who didn't purchase GR. The alignment system, for example.

GR Purchasers do get something for having bought it. If we ever decide to not subscribe, we keep full access to GR content (under same circumstances, other people still have to pay for it). Thats pretty descent, not that I plan to ever let my sub lapse.
Always remember, we were Heroes.
Quoting myself, because I made a mistake.

I think they doing it the right way.
So if you bought GR and unsub for a few months, you can still play with a few of your favourite characters and enjoy the boosters or expansions you bought back in the day.
So you not VIP, but neither PREMIUM because you retain all the stuff you bought a while back.
I think its just awesome.
