Coming Storm?

Did anyone notice the bit about the meteors on the Keep Galaxy City Clean newspaper graphic? It brings to my mind the Shivan meteorite in Atlas at the end of the Pilgrim arc in Ouroboros.

I seriously hope they dont turn GC into a hazard zone. It's my preferred zone for starting out a new hero - much quieter than AP and easier to get around in without travel powers.

It occurred to me as soon as I saw the piece that the meteors were probably the real story.

Agreed. For a start, it would exclude villains if they ran an event only in the standard GC map (unless they somehow make GC co-op or engineer it so that the event is launched in an instance).

Doing it via a paper in Paragon, it's possible that Recluse would read this and prepare for 'the event', giving an angle to get villains involved. Although, with the 'it's all about incarnates' mantra the game has devolved to, it could be that Cole has planted a space fortress in orbit which attracts meteors into orbit to create this event. Then various maps in both Paragon and Rogue Isles could be hit.

The Incarnate System doesn't end with Praetoria and Cole's invasion. The endgame will continue to develop as the storyline moves on from Cole and toward the Coming Storm.

Oh, dear lord, I hope you are right. I can't wait to move on to something new (even though it still won't stop the 'let's link everything in the game to the Well' mentality).

Maybe the Well will launch its own cloud service to compete with iCloud, Google and such and rule the world through the interwebs?

And yes, I am getting silly with references to Cole, Praetoria and the Well.... I just can't take much of it seriously, and don't think it meshes well with game lore. For these reasons, I will continue to be rather flippant about them.

Edit: Cole and Praetoria as they were re-written.... I'm not saying lore in relation to these pre-GR was award-winning material, but it was a side-note that didn't bother me at all (particularly as I jumped to redside about 9 months after I started).

This is Deductive reasoning:

Meteor Shower = Space
Coming Storm = Shivans
Shivans = Meteors
coming Storm = Space

This is Abductive reasoning:
Coming Storm = Space
New Zone soon
Paper gives mysterious warning of Meteors
Paper + knowledge of Coming Storm + Knowledge of New Zone = high probability of new Zone being in Space or pertaining to space.

You could also mention how 'Galaxy City' is littered with astrological terminology.

One way or another, it means Villains will get another zone!

And for that, I am immensely grateful.

I expect it to be the first signs of the Storm as well. The Shiva mission probably just encountered its long range scouts, causing the devestation of Bloody Bay. I fully expect any more meteorites to be advanced probes perhaps.

That said, given that Mender Silos travelled back from several thousand years into our future, it could be a very, very long war indeed...

This was pretty much my thought process as well, including the song. Then I stopped and thought "oh right, 'always new stuff for 50s to do', so I can guess this will be for 50s too" and my song changed into a sigh.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

With regard to Shivans, I point you to this.

The meteorites in Bloody Bay have been there since 1989. They are what appear to be the remnants of a mysterious planetary devourer dubbed Shiva, which was seemingly destroyed that same year. However these fragments appear to be reconstituting under a strange tree at the centre of the island.

Here's the interesting bit (and pure speculation on my part), it would seem that Shiva/the Storm had been on its way here for decades. What it didn't expect was a nuke in the face when it arrived in the solar system. So it masks itself from sensors and waits, sending scouts to Earth to reconnoitre. Meanwhile on Earth everyone thinks its been destroyed and the meteorites are just fragments of wreckage.

Another interesting thing to note is the name Shiva, after the Hindu deity "The Destroyer of Worlds". This might point to a Galactus/Unicron world eater style adversary in the Coming Storm.

Or I could be talking utter rubbish. Time will tell.

Thinking about this for a bit I just remebered that the Coming Storm uses Kheldians as a power supply(per Twilight's Son).

Kheldians come from Space

Paragon Wiki:

"Twilight's Son is the last of his race. The Kheldians have been wiped out and used as a source of energy to power the ships of a deadly alien force in the far distant future. Twilight's Son looks upon our time like it is a thing of make believe. Though distant and somewhat removed from humanity, he is filled with an overwhelming hope that anything is possible. He looks out upon this world and can see no other outcome but success"

The Kheldians fled to many worlds. The "enemy" would need to have vehicles that cross the space between planets ... or teleporting ships. Or, TARDISes.
