Memorizing recipes????

If you complete enough of the right selection of common invention recipes, you will memorize them, and related others. Memorizing a recipe unlocks a set of choices under the Memorized tab. Using a recipe under the memorized tab does not consume a recipe object, so you are not required to have a copy of the recipe in your inventory.
Basically, you memorize them by crafting lots of them; the number required varies, but generally increases as you go up in level.

It's a little confusing. For instance, to get "battery powered" you craft some number of level 15's AND some number of level 20's; they can be either Endurance Modification or Endurance Recovery. So you can mix EndMod/EndRec, but you can't mix L15/L20: it has to be 6 at level 15 and 6 at level 20. (obviously you can do more than 6 at one level, but it won't get you the "memorized" badge any faster.) Then you can make L15 or L20, EndMod or EndRed, as you like for half crafting cost and no recipe needed.

To get the worktable you get all the badges at level 10, level 15-20, level 25-30, and level 35-40, plus a certain "total number crafted" badge. You do NOT need the level 45-50 crafting badges! (They'll help with total number crafted, and they're often a good way to make money. But you don't NEED them.)

I usually go slowly, selling my goodies, through the ones where I can break even or make inf- Damage, EndWhatever, Recharge Reduction, Accuracy, Defense or Resistance (depending on what's in short supply and/or what's cheap to build), Healing, level 15-40. The level 10's are mostly junk that you delete, the mezzes are all junk that you delete. I don't remember what else you have to craft.

Is there a tutorial or a break down of the recipies / salvage you need to do this?

It would be great if there was a step by step tutorial.

One bit of advice is not to try and craft what's cheapest (unless you have tons of money to blow). For example, the Sniper badge requires you to craft 11 level 35 and 11 level 40 Recharge or Interrupt IOs. The Interrupt recipes are cheaper to buy, but you are unlikely to be able to sell the finished IO. The recharge recipes cost more, but it's possible to sell them pretty easily, often at a big profit (comparatively speaking).

Note that this is a method optimized around minimizing crafting costs. Depending on salvage prices you may prefer other options.

Let me get something straight. What if my toon is much higher than 10, let's say,...lvl 47? Can she still get all the badges from lvl 10 on? Or did she had to have started at lvl 10? Please explain, thanks.

You get the badge for each level range by crafting IO's in that level range. Your level is irrelevant. Most people do the whole thing when they are level 50. Someone did it at level 1 for..... I guess entertainment value?

Then be prepared to not want to craft anything for atleast 2 weeks. Also, once you get all the 10-40 badges, you can burn through some of the total crafted badges inventing buffs in the super group base.

I did it with a level 15 praetorian. And yes, it was just to see what a pain in the *** it was, But I was also trying to hit the inf cape as well so that added more restrictions.

I did it on one of my toons, and I dont intend to do it again...

However, the two ranges I (almost) always do the crafting badges for are the L25-30 and the L45-50 - they give you the bonus salvage slots and the bonus recipe slots. Makes life a LOT easier, and more proftable!

I've done it about 7-8 times so far. Most recently a week or so ago. For that, I went with a "money is no object, craft stuff and sell it for 1 influence or delete it or give it away" approach. Even doing that I probably spent less than 30 or 35 million in the process, and was done in 2 days. But if you're slower and more careful you can make a profit on the whole venture.

It's a pain.

Ive done it about 20 times now. I start getting OCD when I see those partially complete Invention badges taunting me. I did it once on a Praetorian guy between 10-20, using Gmail as pseudo storage and checking the market every day.

don't do it

turn back now before it's too late

every time you open your recipe window from now on you'll see all of those recipes

I get Field Crafter on all my toons eventually. For me it's a long-term goal though. It's part of the leveling process. I put up bids on recipes and salvage, go play, craft and list the resulting IOs, log off. In the course of leveling to 50 I usually have all the memorization badges and 600-700 of the required crafts. Then I just have to grind out the last few hundred crafts.

I realize most people aren't as patient as me and want to take a faster approach.

Every time I try to dump useless salvage it gives me a warning that it's used in one of my recipes because I have all the recipes memorized AND the devs can't get that damn dialog box to work correctly.

Like most warnings, I believe there is a spot where you can turn this off in the dialog box. Unfortunately you can't set the memorized recipes to be minimized in that way.

How do you "use gmail as pseudo storage"? Unless you mean ingame email?

I believe they were trying for shorthand for "gleemail", which is what is used when referring to the in-game email system.

If you can put up with those annoyances, then I say it's worth it. The Portable Workbench temp power is handy.

The extra salvage and recipe slots are very handy. I have a level-locked 15 scrapper for AE farming that has all the recipe slots unlocked for faster ticket rolling. Keep meaning to level her to 20 but never getting around to it. heh.

the salvage slots are nice as well.

Yeah, I meant the Global Email, I'd craft stuff till my Auction Slots were full, then email stuff to myself till that was full too.

Yes -- however, as I think was mentioned, that setting doesn't work properly and doesn't successfully disable the warning.
