The Midnighter's Club...

...is it anything more than a place to grab two explore badges, a transport hub to Cim (or other zones), and sometimes a place where you can start an incarnate trial?

What I'm asking is: when will there come a time when you click on the magical time-travel crystal and it asks you what destination in time you'd like to visit? As in, there's more than one?

I was just thinking yesterday that we have a Steampunk pack coming out, and it would be perfectly suited for a trip into the 1870's or so. Maybe an early encounter with Nemesis?

I know they've got a lot of things that they'd like to do, and probably will never have enough time to do them all. But it would be a shame if the Midnighter's Club never went anywhere else.

I agree, it should lead to other times when the timeline was threatened and being defended by the incarnates of their times. The crystal would take us to a variety of small Cimm-style zone. Camelot springs to mind right away but there are plenty of historical/mythical flash-points to use as inspiration.

That would be so cool.

Allegedly there were plans for more zones like Cimerora to make the Club into a hub for these other zones, but I have no idea what floundered.

Costumed adventuring by gaslight, absolutely!

The Midnighter's Club is one of CoH's most underused locations. I'd love to see it reworked as a staging area for more content, be it end-game trials or expansion zones. Besides, Pocket D could use some competition as a cross-faction gathering spot.

A: You crash into another one.

Devs have said that period zones are not likely to happen. At least not for just a few arcs. It would have to be big... like Cimerora big. The design of a 1950s zone, e.g., would be as much work as any brand new zone. So, unless you want to see two issues dealing with time travel to just one specific period, ain't gonna happen.

So, what you're saying is, "Maybe eventually" while citing a source. Which, is a lot less annoying than a seemingly random comment and a winky smile.

It proved to be too much of a haddock. And expensive, to the tuna several thousand man-hours.

I'd be quite happy to see an existing zone only partially redesigned for another era, say, Victorian Mercy Island or 1920s Kings Row. The devs don't have to start again from scratch necessarily.

Couldn't they just do it for the halibut?

Midnighter Club also has a mission contact (Mercedes Sheldon).

Yeah, but her missions suck, so I don't blame anyone for forgetting about her.

The Midnighters themselves do make a good enemy group for "you need info about some magic stuff but we don't want to send you to steal yet another book from the CoT" missions. Of course in heroic missions you'll have to rescue one of them from the CoT to get the info you need....

That's not much easier.

A Victorian Mercy Island would be able to re-use the shoreline and maybe some of the street layout, but just about every single building would need to be new, as would contacts, amenities, pathing for wandering civilians, and so on.

A 1920s Kings Row would need to spruce up the King Garment Works factory (essentially, an entirely new set of building models and textures), deal with the lack of War Walls, remove the "new" buildings such as the PPD headquarters and most of the skyscrapers, and so on. Most of the street layout could stay, but they'd need to come up with a new set of cars to drive on it.

I find them quite fun and usually play them whenever bringing a character through the 20s... so... your mileage may vary? I find their stories to be decent enough and also a good challenge.

I dig the gimmick of the Family boss guy.

I like the final Warrior fight on a tanker. Just all those guys wailing on you while your armor/hit points keep you from faceplanting while you pummel their bosses into the dirt. It's just ridiculously fun.

The time-traveling Family guy was cool too.

I think that's an awesome idea. Also, a pirate era Sharkhead Island or another of the Rogue Islands.
