I'll admit, I haven't read through the whole thread here, but something struck me today when I finally picked up Paralysing Blast on my Elec Dominator.

The hold animation for that power looks way better than the (if you will excuse my saying) dopey MAGIC ELECTRO SPHERE hold of Tesla Cage. It'd be great if the hold animation of Paralysing Blast were usable with Tesla Cage for those of us who are more interested in overloading a target's nervous system, rather than putting them in enormous scintillating balls.

Sure, it's not a cage, but it's just as tesla as the current animation. = ~=

Personally, I far prefer Tesla Cage as a visual because I enjoy the concept of bubble fields.

I discovered a pretty awkward bug in Electric Melee for Scrappers, specifically Chain Induction. You'll note that all of Electric Melee for Scrappers in its Original, non-customizable form is blue, like Electric Blast for Blasters. Well, Chain Induction isn't. It's first strike, the one which originates from the player, is blue-tinted, but every jump thereafter is red. I assume that when the set was ported over from Brutes, the pseudo-pet used to make the chain jumps happen never had its own effects recoloured.

I'm not sure why that never seems to have been reported. I assume because no-one uses Original colours any more, these days.

I know the tech is already built into the game because the evidence is in Pocket D on NPC DJ Zero. I would love to be able to have combined auras, or be able to have two auras! That would be the sickest update too the game ever!
And here's a screenshot just to prove it's been done

DJ Zero's aura's are (in no particular order)

Starburst Glow - Starburst Body

Sparkles - Body Sparkles Light

Hope this can be addressed soon would love to make some amazing characters with two auras to utilize

Just want to say that Darkness Control effects look amazing! Now, would it be possible to get an update for the other Dark power effects?

Still think it's plausible if we ever get the option to have two auras working on a character at one time is what I'm trying to get at haha

And your probably right, but standing near DJ Zero and just watching him it sure looks like he's got two auras running though.

Specially alternative VFX for Dark melee based on Darkness control.
I hate the tentacles and the skulls, the new effects based on liquid shadows are just plain awesome.

Also I want to suggest that all the weapon sets could have a tintable VFX, like we have with Titan Weapons.
Sparks for claws, or the othe effects sets like Battle axe have, some effects got sparks, some got a golden glowie effect, some a red wave... Would be cool if we can set the same colour for all the attacks.

FX suggestion: Please make faster animations for Kheldian form shifts. They are currently way too long, awkward, clunky, etc. I know Arbiter Hawk said during i21 Beta that he was "looking into it," but an issue later there has been no dialog about that or any of the other Kheldian issues. This is important to us, please fix.

Some critiques in the Fire & Ice set got me thinking about FX and auras:

Have you and HB (Honey Badger) looked at using the body wrapping auras (Victorian aura tech) to explore some sort of ice or hoarfrost aura? Dancing frost lines along with touches of cryogenic aura style vapor rising from the figure?

As for two auras: Look at Anti-Matter in the KIR Trial. He has Alpha and Atomic auras.

I asked Tunnel Rat about having a regular aura AND a path aura when she was on a UStream, and she said that they would like to do it, but it's a HUGE hit on performance. I think she said they'd look into it, and see if there was a way to do it.

I hope this is something feasible as an alternate animation for other dark powers. It's often the fluffy, the tentacles or the fluffy tentacles that keep me away from dark sets.

I want a colorable aura around the character like a force field. You should be able to see through it, but it should be very obvious - like the HUD aura.

I want a person left behind aura for movement. When you move you leave a ghostly aura where you were standing (with or without a dust cloud). Maybe it can only happen once every 5 seconds or so if repeating it quickly is a problem.

I want a large fist aura for combat - so using SS or other powers your hand gets this large glowing fist that the powers come from.

Please Tunnel Rat, will you considere a minor update for the look of Fiery aura>Blazing aura?
The FX is one of the worst FX we have in game, it should be changed.
You and your team are awesome and we are getting the best FX in CoX to date.
I love the fire of Blazing aura. Would be awesome for the update.
If you cant update the global look of Fiery aura, at least suppress the ugly overpixelated "fart" effect that Blazing aura have please
The aura FX is ok but that fire exploding is... weird!
Please considere this as an alternative FX.

Also, congratulations for the Dark control FX, is awesome.
I wish all the Dark powers could have same effects.

Any chance of unify elemental armors and power effects to the latest FX avalaible?
Examples:

Dark melee, blast, armor etc, to look like new Dark control set.
Fire melee, blast, aura, manipulation, to look like plasma or blazing patch aura.
Ice hibernate to have the same block of ice the Costume Change emote; Block of ice. The current old hibernate ice is so clunky.
Electric powers, having the same updated FX of Electric control.

Could we separate the Combat Aura section from the regular Aura section so that we can opt for more options in and out of combat?

(This would mean Aura suppression on whichever aura we wouldn't be using at a particular time)


Also, for Combat Aura options (only), could we add the body effects used in sets like Spines, Ice and Stone Armor; etc?

Zero's aura probably has two types of effects, but only one Slot I'd be all for more "Combined" auras, a "Smoke and Fire" aura, a "Ghosts and Wisps" aura, a "leaves and Autumnal" aura, e.t.c.

I asked Protean today how he added multiple auras to Anti-Matter. This was his answer: "Like a bawss!" Later, I understood this to mean that he hand-edited Anti-Matter's costume script file to include the extra auras. I assume this would be true for DJ Zero and any other lucky NPC sporting more than one aura.

It is technically possible, obviously, but there's a lot of UI work in making this feature available to players. If implemented, we'd likely limit most full-body auras to one slot so that you couldn't stack hundreds of particles on top of each other. Performance would be less of a concern that way.

Not a bad idea! We hadn't talked about that specifically, but we'll definitely add it to the list of possibilities for future "shell" auras.

PS - Can I FPARN myself?

Thanks! I'm happy with the reception they've been getting. I'd love to do similar effects for the other Darkness powersets, but the major hurdle here is time. It's just as time-consuming and costly to create a set of effects for an existing powerset as it is for a new powerset, which makes a complete Dark revamp unlikely. However, I do like the suggestions from Beta about proliferating effects for shared powers, like Fearsome Stare, into the older Dark sets.

I understand the opportunity cost, but the old Dark effects look exceptionally dated at this point, especially when contrasted with the new Dark effects.

I'll hold out hope it can be worked into the schedule at some point.
