It's not. The invasion begins May 9th. These specific dates and times are for the GM events during the invasion. The invasion itself should run like Rikti or zombie attacks.

Well that @ least explains the Goal & Thank-you Devs for taking a more sensible aproach on that, though you DO realize just how Late @ night 4-7pm PST is for the Poor Europeans, right? Hopefully we'll be lucky & hit the goal so those with machines that can't handle Freedum on a normal night will still benefit over the weekend. Could be an interesting night none the less, will have to pop on there tonight to see if I still have a toon I haven't moved & if not make one.

Here's to seeing if we can Make Freedom crash & Burn w/o Making my Comp shut it down 1st!

First of all, thank you for explaining why you wanted to have as many players online on one server at one time. Second, thank you for extending the time we can get the badge if you reach that magic number Friday night.

I still won't be able to get in to help with that magic number, but I wish everyone who can get in during the timeframe the best of luck.

(Hmm...I just realized that I made a nice little outfit of a sexy blonde policewoman as a fun thought experiment, but never actually rolled her out. Maybe I'll delete one of the SG pads I have on Freedom and roll her just for fun - and to finally see what Freedom is really like. )

So if this is testing for simultaneous users, but I have to be at work during those hours, is it OK if I just log in (and start an O-arc so I don't get automatically logged out) before I go to work, and just leave it running?

Tech support IRL, CLR/DRU/MED/WHM/PRI/DEF. Hmm, I sense a pattern...

Badges are all about 'trying it all', even things you don't like to do, whether it be PvP or teaming. So, it is unlikely that the argument to not tie badges to events will get no traction.

The problem was the small-window, one-time, likely-to-miss nature of this badge.

In game communities are mostly global channel based, which are already "server-less". That's what I'll be doing (and seems to be 'okay' with what I got from his message). I usually don't get home from work until 10:30pm EDT.

The impression I got was the invasion would be the Rikti or zombie attacks, happening in random zones throughtout the day, but that the special dates given would be where the GMs take a more direct hand and really hit us hard.

Better, but it still bad. Being that you mentioned it is a holiday weekend, some people maybe out of town. For those that can login that weekend but not that time period, the fate of the badge lands on the rest of the community.

Offering a second chance a few months later, that is good. But is it gonna fall under the same criteria? you get a a window of 3 hours where the fate of you getting the badge is in your own hands.

I hope you're right. Because of work I can't make any of the listed times for either of the servers I play on, it would be nice if I could participate in this event at least a little.

Just did a time conversion and it starts at Midnight for us EU users :'(
I can appreciate the need for testing at peak US times and awarding the badge if you guys get 2500 users is awesome, but I'll probably have to miss the event itself.

Midnight on a Friday... that's actually doable! Of course, it'll be a level (low) character and I probably won't do anything, but I can probably log on.

Seems like poor Freedom is losing out. Chances are that their invasion, brief that it is, will be an enormous lag-fest with the delights of a server crash high in probability. Sorry, Freedom users.

Well, the posts' timestamps already do - but that auto-conversion would be a mod that subs in a time for some $Variable

I have a small suggestion on the event, If they want to test peak,why not remove the caps on the other servers as they have the events? so for example freedom players can go to try to cap out liberty or even pinnacle? that way if something goes badly, they can regroup and have more chances to gather the data they want.
they could even offer us free transfers to have us move toons to other servers

As I understand it, Freedom has the most robust server hardware configuration. That may be a factor in their choice.

I think this is a much better plan. But I think offering a special badge as the incentive to join the stress test wasn't an ideal option. Perhaps a special, 24-hour "Quadruple-XP & Double Merits" event on Freedom only would have done as well. Even offer characters created on Freedom during that 24 hours a server transfer token afterwards.
