While most days I do glance over the forums, weekends I usually skip as i'm more interested in playing the game. The thing most of us are here for.

If it was in the MOTD it didn't pop on my screen, though that certainly has been a useful tool in the past.

I don't recall EVER getting an email from CoH about anything to do with the game, despite using the same email I signed onto the game with. The friend who got me into the game still gets messages despite almost never playing anymore.

Like others the launcher blows past for me and I rarely see anything on that small box thatis briefly on the screen.

I finally caught wind of it late Sunday but was unable to do anything about it until the next day..oh wait, too late.

Luckily, now being aware of their advertising methods I was able to get the info about the second sale in time.

I emailed asking about the first sale and got the usual speedy response...yeah, about a week. Basically me telling the same line of BS the smug types here are trotting out. Honestly, I could care less about the first sale. I misread things at first and was po'd, but once I saw the second announcement I realised that that was the one I wanted. The first I may or may not have bought anything.

It definitely made me recall why I was thinking about not renewing my annual subscription last month. Not the players. Not the product. I can honestly say i've never had a decent or useful experience with anyone from the company outside of the GM's who help with in game problems. 90% of them have been pleasant and helpful. Too bad about the company otherwise. Too bad for me that I really do enjoy wasting tme here.

People are simply complaining they missed an announcement because they didn't read the announcements.
It's true they can only do so much, but it seems that *A LOT* of people missed any announcement. I think their highest priority should be to fix their email announcement system. I rarely get their announcements, yet I get every single confirmation from the NCSoft store. This suggests that one of those email systems is faulty.

If they had that email system working reliably, THEN any failure would rightly be placed on the players because it is IMPERATIVE you have a valid email address on file.

ooooooo Good one! I didn't think of that. And it's quite possible that they have the system set up so that in-game 'ads' would override the player settings. That's how I would have done it. If we're going to post important game news on the billboards, rather than paid ads, I would have it ignore individual 'opt out' settings.

No.

"Enough warning" would be in size 1200 font, made out of neon lights, mounted on the side of a hill, and surrounded by stadium lights. "Enough warning" would also have stadium-size loudspeakers blasting the CoH theme songs for Heroes, Villains, and Praetorians, with controlled explosions going off behind the whole display to serve as a bass line.

I agree with this, I didn't get emails for a while until I updated my information.

My limited customer service employment leads me to believe at least 75% of those who don't read the forums couldn't find the forums if it was set as their homepage, and the rest are illiterate.

Perhaps just a bit over-stated? LOL

But yes, I get yer point, and agree with it in large part. Most customers I have dealt with are utter bufoons. I had to explain to someone that Hardee's and Dairy Queen are NOT in fact the same restaurant. I have repeatedly taught basic math to customers so that they could understand that, yes, their coupon was applied... that the sale really does make something cheaper, etc. People are idiots. I think it is clear that NO amount of advertising would catch everyone... which means some joker would be here whining that they missed it.

I get messages from NCSoft all the time, mostly to do with trouble tickets or messages letting me know I have emails from Devs or players.

Basically bad timing as well, as I was feeling crappy and annoyed and this issue provided a timely target. Not to mention the usual smug pillocks on here who have to point out how everyone but themselves are drooling idiots.

They aught to make em 5 bucks regular and have Dollar Days once per month, on random days. If one moth's dollar day doesn't gel with yer payday, next month's might.

I think overall... they'd see a hellah lotta more money action with transfers then they do now from volume alone.

My favorite customer was the one who disagreed with me that Midnight was 12:00AM. Midnight was night time and AM is morning! This is stuff I might've agreed with when I was 5 years old, sure... but I was speaking to a woman that sounded significantly older.

There isn't any news about CoH in my version of the launcher (the newest one). The first screen I'm greeted with talks about Aion, from May 5th. The second screen I get (if I click on City of Heroes and then wait 10 seconds for the blank screen on the right to actually fill, which I'm unlikely to do if I'm going to play), I get a cropped up image on the top half, a bunch of links opening up in my browser, not in the launcher - Account, Support, Community, Patch Notes, Store. None of this gives any news, the latest patch notes is from the 3rd May and makes no mention of anything like a sale.

Below that, on the bottom left, there's a rotating gif with the animal pack, the refer a friend thing and the weekly TF ; more links opening up in my browser.
The only item that seems like it might give me news, "latest news", on the bottom right, doesn't do anything when I click on it.

That's it. If there's news about sales or promotions somewhere in that bloated mess, it's really, really well hidden.

As an aside, I don't get announcement emails from NCSoft either. Emails from support and so on seem to work fine.

Trying the main website now... Gee, thanks NCSoft, even though I play on the US servers I'm getting the french webpage. Let's sift through the news. Oh, there's actually a mention of a magic pack sale from May 11th. Scrolling down... Ok, the news stop at May 10th and I have no options to look up archives or anything. Great.

Switching to US layout. Wait, this actually looks a lot better... And now I get the option to read archived news. Woo! Ten minutes to find something that I could have seen in two clicks on the boards. I honestly don't get how do people get their news this way.

Reminds me of a South Carolina woman that called me 7:30 am on a Sunday wanting to be connected to a shoe store in Hawaii. She didn't want to listen to my telling her that there is a 6 hour time difference and the store probably wasn't open at 1:30 am there. So I connected her like she requested. 5 minutes later she called back demanding a refund and trying to complain that I gave her the wrong number because no one answered the phone there.


Then there was the woman that was having problems dialing Disney's Magic Kingdom because she thought she needed to dial 011 before dialing the Florida number. It turned out she thought she needed to make an international call to reach them. As she explained to me, "America is a democracy and doesn't have any kingdoms."

Directory Assistance or Call Completion? I've had people upset that the dmv wasn't answering their phone at 4am. Two moments of disney stupidity come to mind though. One person calling from the Small World ride (creeeeepy), and another caller wanting the number for one of the attractions.

When I worked for **&* we did both directory assistance and call completion if the number was inside the US, Hawaii, or Alaska.

I make no bones about being an ***hole...but i've been so much of one that I have to tie a pretty bow on it.

Dammit, now i've allowed myself to be dragged into this kind of Forum-crap...precisely why I usually just use this area for gathering info and occasionally joing with folks I know. Oh well, least we've not yet dipped into the idiocy i've seen more than enough of in here and more of in the game...though not as much recently I will admit.

Anyway, we can continue to blather at each other a little more if you like but I don't see this going anywhere useful and it's already got to bean irritiating distraction to others..well, everyone apart from the usual ghouls who like to watch and incite such stuff.

And then other people would complain that it's too intrusive and the Devs are pushing the MT store like a F2P game.
