Free Server Transfers?
And bulldookey to you. The majority of players CHOOSE not to read the forums. To label them as lazy is sloppy thinking.... at best.
|
Oh and "lazy" is me being polite. After 15 years of customer service my actual opinion of them is much more colorful than our forum rules would allow posting.
Some of those games with more expensive transfers are F2P.
Still, the price we got for renames or transfers are not very expensive.
But I think it makes sense now more than ever a couple of weeks of free server transfers after the GSA.
Maybe after a few weeks, when some people spends the cash, we will get a round of free server transfers.
Learn to read Angel. Those two games were subscription based when they first started selling transfers at $25. a pop and the price remained the same after they went F2P.
|
I think our prices in CoH are not expensive anyway. But damn, I really want to move my characters to NA servers... Would LOVE the free transfers.
Not my best economy moment right now, and I rather save some for the awesome steampunk pack coming.
Call it sloppy if you like but that's my opinion of anyone that complains about missing a sale or event when they can't be bothered to check the sites provided them to keep them informed.

If you're running a special and try to get word out to your customers, and most of them don't hear about it, then YOU HAVE FAILED. Call the customers lazy if you like but the COMPANY has FAILED in their goal. Rationalize it all you want, but the bottom line is that the sales/marketing department blew it.

You keep putting the failure on the customer. This is wrong. When a company runs specials, promotions, sales, etc, their GOAL is to ATTRACT ATTENTION. If they are not doing that, then they have FAILED.

in plain sight, but maybe some brighter, flashing colors would give it more pop
(news is automatically displayed, I didn't have to click anything)
genuine curiosity, what exactly is borked about their emailing system, aside them sending me 3 emails about the anniversary and free reactivation week...
We all like Free stuff :-)
But - I won't complain if I don't get it :-)
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

If they choose to put blinders on they have to live with the consequences.
"WalMart put an ad in the paper about their sale last weekend, and had notices about the sale at the front of their store, but I don't read the paper and I didn't look at the signs at the front of the store, so I demand they repeat the sale!"
If people missed the sale after it was announced in the updater, emails, and on the forums/website then I think it's fair to call them lazy.

1. The email system stinks. I didn't get any email about and it was NOT due to any problem with my email. I get less than half of their announcements.
2. If someone doesn't visit the forums, how would they know to look at the forums to find out about it?
I would think anything important should go in the global message of the day. I haven't seen that being used much lately.

And if it was in the GMotD, you (or someone else) would be whining "Oh, I just click through that! I didn't expect it to have any important information! THEY SHOULD HAVE WARNED US!"
No I'm putting personal responsibility on the customer. If a company establishes methods to keep its customers informed and they make the choice not to use them they can't blame the company when they miss something.
|
We're hearing complaints from people who really wanted these things, i.e. MOTIVATED people. The company failed those customers. The customers simply didn't know what they didn't know.

And if they don't visit the forums or web site, how would they know of the 'established method'? What if they don't even know that the forum EXISTS? I certainly didn't when I started playing. And since this was my first online game, it never even occurred to me that the forums might exist.

But this sort of comment just *astounds* me in this day and age. Generally, if I want to know about something, I end up (a) googling it, or (b) sticking it (or its company's) name up in the address bar with a .com at the end.
Especially with software - I want to make sure I'm patched, make sure there arent' bugs that are going to cause me untoward difficulty, look for trials and the like.
I'm more surprised when there's *not* a website for something. And given the website has direct links to the forum (as does the launcher,) well...
You know, people still seem to be missing my point. Someone (or some group) in Marketing have the job of getting the word out about these things. They failed. Putting it on the customers is irrelevant. Someone at the company failed in their job.

It's like having your hours on your front door. "Open 8-6 Mon-Fri." Then someone comes in and asks when you close, or complains you weren't open saturday.
You *must* use the launcher to get into the game. Yes, I agree the announcement could use more "pop," but it *is* there. And if you know how to skip the launcher - you probably got that info from the forums *anyway.*
I almost never see the launcher ads when I start heroes. It auto launchs Heroes for me, and closes itself. The few seconds it's up is covered by the checking for updates dialog.
Email & Forum Threads are much more effective for me.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):

Don't take this personally, as I'm making a general statement here.

And I first went online with a 1200 baud modem so I'm not a newb to this. In the absence of any actual problems (the game worked perfectly for me on first install), it never occurred to me to go looking for news.

I get like 10 emails from them. And I dont read them.

People are simply complaining they missed an announcement because they didn't read the announcements.
However, I do think they should have added it to the gmotd.

They can only do so much. It's not their fault if people miss announcements by simply not reading announcements that are on the launcher before they start the game.

why didn't they put it up on all the billboards in the game?... I mean after those 2 RL ads ran there haven't been any other ad dropped on the billboards. If you can't get real companies to shell cash for your ad space, then use it yourself....
but that would require the players to have "in game ads" enabled... oh well.
maybe if enough people complain then the dev team might have another sale... like around the 8 year anniversary... I'm just gonna go ahead and say it...
Stay tuned! BIG SALE planned for 8 year Anniversary!
there, is that enough warning?
"You sir, have never been in a hammer fight, that much is clear."

*yeah, I quoted myself.
It was in the launcher, too. You know...the thing every person has to use to get into the game?
|
Just saying.
What's next? If they put it on the launcher, but someone still misses it, are you going to demand that the devs personally call everyone up and tell them about it?
