Lambda Posers
Counter:
When I've been killed the tenth time trying to catch up with the rest of the team (typically being a squishy,) I'm not contributing either, other than to my debt badge. If I stay outside and do /em protest behind Marauder's back, I'm doing just as much good, frankly.
Alternately, if MY team has all the acids/grenades and the other team has one to go, there's no point in rushing to the other side. If someone wants to amuse themselves, let them.
Summary: Lighten up.
Most of the times I have seen posing, it has been people from the team that completed collecting their 10 items. So they aren't leeching at all, they're just fast.

People want you to glow or marked in some way, and now a rant being a suggestion poser. Is this difficult or something?
Players hosp it constantly and/or either done their job or there are 1 temp to get left. People are contributing. Is a little fun after the umpteenth time doing it so bad?
If you skip the whole phase you only get the 10 thread table. I think that's a good enough penalty to stop leaching.
I've noticed this happening more and more frequently on Lambda Trials - people skipping the second phase of the mission and posing at Marauders cutscene location. They may consider this to be amusing - I consider it to be leaching. We have an objective to meet, and you're not contributing.
Suggestions: 1. As a minimum, I'd like the person's name to appear in the cutscene. This makes it easier to locate the person in the league list and 1-star note them as "Lambda Leacher". 2. A better solution would be to allow selection and right click of the person during the cutscene. That way as a player, I can go ahead and 1 star them before the 3rd phase begins. As trial leader, I would love to be able to /kick them during the cutscene. Edit: 3. A third possibility is to just change the cutscene so no player can appear. Take away the temptation completely.... This behavior seems to be spreading, I've seen up to 4 players doing this. |
Good call, Reverend Killjoy. Good call.

One of my toons inadvertantly made it into a cut scene once-only because she got there at the right time returning from the hospital area....
(yes, I have a bad habit of getting killed....still learning the Lambda area (and whose idea was it to make it such a damned maze! I always wind up going in circles at the elevators!)

i dont really have much problem with poeple in the cutscene, but what i do have a problem with is the fact the trial can fail DURING the cutscene if someone has an active pet with them which can aggro marauder and cause him to run off out the door before the cutscene really finishes thus screwing the whole league out of any reward even the 10 threads due to failure
What if you end up kicking the guy that 5 acids?
and even then theres the outside chambers to get more acids as well, plus with poeple getting more incarnate power instead of running with just alpha, the ambushs can easily be dealt with if 1-3 doors are still open
I agree. Something must be done about this. All those people having fun just aren't taking this video game seriously. Having fun and enjoying oneself should be against Terms of Service. Good call, Reverend Killjoy. Good call. /sarcasm |
I just LOVE hunting down the final two or three glowies with just 3 or 4 of us showing on the map, and on a short timer. Goodness, we wouldnt want to spoil the dancers enjoying their dance in the cutscene location while the four of us are actually trying to complete the TF step.

I've never seen someone posing who wasn't on the team that completed their teams task first.
Now, one could go help the other team, and that's what I tend to do, but when they're down to one left when our team has 10 already, my help isnt much more than me trying to find them.

Well, while we're on the sarcasm bent, how about this.

If you really feel that strongly about it, start your own Lambda trials in the future instead of joining others. Then you are free to kick those you feel are leaching.

Again, if it doesnt negatively impact the overall trial, a little cutscene frivolity is great. When it does negatively impact the trial, I get a bit aggravated.
My apologies to the prior poster for my snarky response, I usually try to avoid dissing contests in the forums.

Posing in Marauder's cutscene isn't harmful, but it's not funny, either. It's pretty much exactly as entertaining as as the cutscene itself. At this point I consider people who /em dance in next to the Top Dog to be about even with people claiming the cake is a lie in 2009, or talking about how well they shovel 4 days after issue 11 went live.
Issue 16 made me feel like this.
Warning: This poster likes to play Devil's Advocate.
Just because it shows 3-4 of you on the map does not mean a damn thing and is no proof that anyone is not contributing. Sure some of them could be outside wiating for the cutscene but also you could have 8 others from the other team there and you will not see them on your map.

Let them pose all they want, it doesn't really hurt anything.
I look at it like this: If you even get to the cut scene in the first place, you've already met the requirements to get there.
I haven't been on a Lambda run since my very first one that got to the cut scene because we ran out of time. Every single run since then, the cut scene happened because we accomplished the objective.
When one team is done with their side of things and the other has 1 or 2 left there is no point in the team that is done going to try and help, because the team that has 1 or 2 left is so deep in the map that they will be done with it before the first team even gets to them. The team that finishes first can't possibly be of any help to the second team, so they might as well go dance in the cut scene.
Now, on the other hand, if the cut scene happens because you ran out of time and only have 5 of each temp power, and you see 6 people dancing in the cut scene, maybe THEN you can get upset about it.
If you got all 20 temp powers with time to spare before the cut scene and people are dancing, it harms nothing at all.

I won't totally agree with the OP, but I understand his/her concern.
I too notice people skipping out on their teams just to be in the cut scene. Yes, I know they'll get lower rewards, but that's not the issue. The issue is when a team is struggling inside the Sabotage phase, its not right to the rest of the raid members. If the team has finished their area and collected all 10 temps, by all means go have fun. But not when the Sabotage phase starts. Some people don't even enter the area, they'd rather sit and wait while 3 of the 8 from their team tries to finish the Sabotage phase.
It's nice to have fun with the game don't get me wrong, but at the expense of the other raid members who are busting their butts just to complete the raid while others find it "fun" to sit and leech for a few minutes just to show they're awesomesauce to be in a cut scene and throw off a dance emote.
Me personally I don't care if anyone does it, I just 1 star them and don't invite them to my future raids. You want to leech, do it on someone else's raid. I'd rather have people who want to help the raid members complete it, not people who want to leech and put unnecessary strain on the raid team.

If you're done with your part, go for it.
But don't stand outside while the rest of your team is getting slaughtered trying to do the sabotage phase shorthanded.
If I happen to be leading one and notice that someone is dancing outside, and never even entered the map, I will probably kick them, especially if the objective gets completed anyway. I mean, if we completed the objective while they were standing there dancing, they pretty much just proved we didn't need them anyway.

Personally, it annoys me too. Each and every time I see it.
When my team is finished, unless the other team is at 9, I'll still go down to help them. I guess that makes me more of a team player than the person that would rather dance/stand next to Maraurder. But as long as the sabotage is still completed, I forget about it.
If there was even a chance of not completing and there were people out there, I would definitely kick them immediately, worth losing the temp powers in my opinion for that case.
And with the random drop at the end and helping with the other phases, I'm pretty sure someone could hang out for the whole sabotage phase and still get a very rare while you get your common, so yeah that part annoys me too.

Probably just me being petty but I am a petty person I just can't help it
