SOUND OFF: Who would buy themed Base Expansion Packs?

QUESTIONS:
1. Would you buy Base Expansion Packs?

Yes.

2. How much would you pay?

The standard $9.99 would not be unreasonable for a good base pack.

3. What themed Base Expansion Packs would you like to see?

A lot of good ideas up thread. I particularly like the idea of adding more functionality to the bases. Market, tailor, whatever, usable only if you've purchased the pack.

4. How many items should a Base Expansion Pack contain?

Similar to the costume packs; one functional item and a good assortment of cosmetic items.

Mmm...

I would be for it, as long as their is "real" value to them. The last few booster packs IMO are not worth the money they ask for them, perhaps if they half the price, maybe, and then not sure.

The game really needs to advertise or find a way to get more customers, if they don't have enough revenue to keep the game vibrant.

I am hard pressed to believe that CoX is in its death throws, in general it is a good game, increasingly buggy, but still good. I believe CoX is the best game of its class, and the others really can't hold a candle to it.

If we trying to market the game, to get more customers, maybe we should start a thread where we actually stress the good stuff in the game!

For instance, we got to have the best costume designer of any game.
The Chat GUI is truly outstanding, very player friendly
Mission Scaling, and difficulty choice is something I only seen in CoX
Mentoring is another big thing in this game

These are only a few things I really get to miss, when I play other games and keeps me returning to CoX.

To many players, while the theme of the game is important, playability plays a huge part in a person's experience of satisfaction, and this game has a lot going for it in this area.

So I am more for good marketing and less for rip-off priced boosters.

Incidentally good marketing, does not mean TV advertisements. U-Tube, and other internet outlets are excellent for this, and have no cost associated to them. Heck, CoX could have a contest of game based videos, which must be posted in U-Tube, Face Book, etc. Then the movie poster notifies CoX were to check them out. The winner gets a year free subscription. CoX could do alot more magazine interviews to get the word out and get noticed, not limit the exposure to the few gaming conventions (Where likely the ones attending and willing to sign to hero type games are already CoX customers).

What I want most of all is a market interface in my base. I would pay $10 for that alone.

After that, I want new decorative stuff. A tailor for the base would be cool as well. I also thing it's high time that we could buy any inspiration from our Auto-Doc or Tree of Wonders. Also, I want to be able to sell non-crafted enhancements to those items for the same rate you might get from a Freedom Corps vendor.

1. Yes, I would buy them.

2. $10.00, like all the other Booster Packs.

3. Praetorian Sewers, Stacking Pack (Floor Sections, Wall Sections). Any and all of the existing in game items we can't access now.

4. 20 or so items per pack. There are alot of in game items that would be really cool to have in Base.

Though I doubt that they would ever actually do this, it makes perfect sense. Not only could they make some more money, but they could appease the Base Construction population that has been asking for some "LUV" for years now. All with minimal work on their part. Just give us access to stuff already in the game. It would be a Win/Win for them to go this route, IMHO.

1. Would you buy Base Expansion Packs?
Only if it allowed for the much requested "lairs." (eg single player bases)

2. How much would you pay?
$9.99 as long as it was well-thought out and useful

Quote:
3. What themed Base Expansion Packs would you like to see?
None, I think a well appointed general pack with enough themed pieces to satyisfy most players could be done for a single 9.99 buy-in

Quote:
4. How many items should a Base Expansion Pack contain?
Quite a bit, since most base pieces could easily be unlocked or use from the resources stored on our own hard drives. (I don't see much of it being unique-for-the-pack stuffs)

4. All of those packs would contain a fair amount (I dunno, maybe 20 or so) of new/proliferated decorative items, in addition to the big functional items.

Maybe one could include a "mission door" TPer for the base that although visible to everyone, only works for people who bought the pack. Perhaps that's how all the new functional items for the base would work. You can see the new Tailor in the base, but you don't have access to it unless you have the pack. That isn't particularly unfair to the people who don't have the pack, but it could be a reason for someone who doesn't do base editing to purchase it anyway.
All that. If it had all that, I'd buy it. It's what people have been asking for (repeatedly) and would put some life back into being in SGs. Oh, but instead of 20 or so proliferated decorative items, I'd want more around 100.

If I could go to the SG instead of tracking around 4-5 zones to get some of these things done, I'd gladly pay $10 to use it.

Making the items in the pack unusable to those who don't own it would incentivize plenty of people to want to buy it. I'm sure the pack could pay for it's production cost as long as the items we're good enough.

Yes I would but I don't like what you said about our marvellous devs. They are taking the time to celebrate every anniversary with us so they obviously care about the game!

I was going to come in and flat-out say "NO!"... but yeah, I'd pay $10 for a Booster that added base functionality if it also allowed for lairs/apartments or whatever you want to call a "personal base."

I agree the Devs are marvelous. I said nothing against them - I just said that the suits who are ULTIMATELY in charge decide where to allocate resources so any base upgrade (whether an issue release OR a Expansion Pack) will have to bring in revenue EITHER in the form of an influx of gamers or the price of a booster pack that MANY (not just the builders) would want.

We all have issues. Yours, perhaps, an inability to overcome irrelevant commentary.

I was asked a question and I answered.

Base booster pack huh...
Let's see...
People bought the emote booster pack so I'm pretty sure they would buy this was well.
I know I would, I have spent a number of hours working on the sg base and for me it's been a fun way to be creative sort a break from the grind... I have seen a number of bases that are cool and some others... not so much, but it is what it is... as far as seeing this come to be? Not likley, at the Boston meet and greet I asked posi about any plans for bases and unless I misread his responce, the look I got was simular to telling someone they take their own sister to the prom as their date... O_o

I'd have to say bases are at the bottom of the to do list, just under pvp....

As others have mentioned depends on what it offers .. $10 for a decent one with lots of goodies

Quote:
3. What themed Base Expansion Packs would you like to see?
COT pack with lots of the stuff we see in their bases including wall designs etc

Service Pack to include things like remote access to WW/BM, Remote access to Tailors, Reward Merits Vendor and Possibly even a Drill Instructor (TRAINER) like the one in the Vanguard base.. turn base into a one stop shop for all you needs.

Science Pack with wall, floor, ceiling and furniture option like we see during in game missions to Labs or Praetorian facilities

Cave Pack allowing us to turn our base into something similar to the Crucible in Cap Au Diable

Quote:
4. How many items should a Base Expansion Pack contain?
?? Not sure but enough to actually make the allow the entire base to have a similar theme without every room being exactly alike

Heh, irrelevant commentary? Your issue with the question has nothing to do with the question. You seem to have the same issue.

As for me, no, wouldn't buy it. Memphis Bill already covered my reasons. The "work-arounds" later stated would cost more in development than the pack itself, I think.

Still, i20 itself doesn't have anything to do with the OP's question, directly. It's an arbitrary point on which some folks have hung a reason to say "No" to the question.

That being said, yes. I have given up ever seeing any further base development.

I MIGHT buy a 10 dollar pack if it had anything I thought I could use. As it stands, i stopped constructing my base a while ago and have barely touched it since. Heck, being able to get anywhere FROM anywhere has even made teleport pads irrelevant. The only thing i use my solo SG for is extra storage =/
