Discussion: Changes to this week's Weekly Strike Target

We've identified an issue where players are not receiving a Notice of the Well upon completion of the current Weekly Strike Targets, "The Rule of Three" and "The Beast Beneath the Mountain". To avoid any further confusion, we will be disabling these Weekly Strike Targets during a special maintenance tomorrow morning, (Wed 4/13). During this maintenance we will be enabling "Clamor and Destruction", obtained from Sister Psyche in Independence Port (Hero), and "Pirates of the Sky" (Villain), obtained either from Silver Mantis in Sharkhead Isle or from your Supergroup or Villaingroup base's mission computer or Oracle.

Players who have already completed the current Weekly Strike Target tasks will have their reward status reset for the week, allowing them to properly receive their Notice of the Well reward upon completion of the updated Weekly Strike Target.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. Thanks for your patience.

I don't get it. Wouldn't it be easier to fix them to work properly?

Sorry to see this change, but I understand why it had to happen. Tough week for you guys!

From a production PoV, they can flip the WTF to tasks that are 'known' to work while development works on a long-term solution.

It's sensible triage that doesn't require a hotfix.

Well, they have to identify the code that is causing problem, fix the code, submit the fixed code for internal testing, and then apply the fix to the live servers. This can take a while. Especially since the Devs obviously thought the new WTFs would work properly just like the previous ones did. Since they didn't there must be something unexpected that cropped up, so it's unlikely that they instantly knew what needs to be fixed.

i'm pretty sure that if it was just a missing comma or something that they would've just implemented a hotfix and carried on as normal. i expect that this announcement means that the programmers are combing through the code trying to figure out why it isn't working properly, or possibly they've already found the issue and are trying to figure out a solution to get it to work.

Either that or they're refusing to fix it just to spite us.

(i find that last one extremely unlikely.)

Oh I understand the fix but it suppose to be a weekly TF not a weekend TF.
Also I know lots of people that did the advertised TFs didn't receive their notice and support is not being helpful...

What about those that did them this morning. How hard would it be to give them their notice... But nope they just did a TF to do a TF and have to wait for Thursday

I hope Posi at least gets the WST again soon. I like seeing these shift around and hate to see Sister Psyche back again so soon (and the ITF, for that matter).

Implementing something that would identify everyone who already completed one this morning, while ideal, would require development time. Something we're extremely tight on at the moment.

I'm fairly certain we'll be working on rectifying this issue soon. No timeline at the moment, but we now know it exists.

Does this "reset" also include progress towards the assist badges? Or does it just reset whether or not you can earn the Notice?

I'll get someone to respond here to this question, if I can.

I did the WST this morning (Tues) and I did not get a Notice (I did Tarikoos or whatever breakfast cereal he's named after). Not getting the Notice is annoying, but hardly game breaking for me. My beer shall remain tear free.

I'll get another one later. It's not like I haven't been getting them every week or something.

Credit towards the assist badges is never reset by the WST changes. Once you've gotten "credit" it stays with you.

What will reset is the fact that you've done your first WST already for the reward period. After this change is made the very next time you run the WST you will get the double merits and XP or a Notice if eligible, but not credit towards the assist. Any credit you earned previously is still yours to keep.

4/13/2011 is Wednesday, not Thursday. Zwillinger/Avatea, which is correct, the day or the date?

Is there a reason why you want to do Sister Psyche as the WTF (that's Weekly Task Force, kids...) rather than say ... Synapse?

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

Because Synapse is /awful/ and Psyche is only slightly awful... in comparison.

I suspect that right this moment, they want to do Sissy/Mantis because they know that they work.

Are they planning on awarding the notice of the well to those that completed the TF or are we just stuck using more of our time doing another TF?

I think you'll need to give us a detailed rundown of exactly what the developer time is being spent on, otherwise we might not believe you

Conversion tables for all the new currencies they'll be implementing with the next batch of Incarnate slots. They want to find the nexus of maximum time spent and maximum tears shed in frustration.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

Does this mean that if I did the original WST and DID get the NOTW (or double Merits) if that same toon runs the new WST will it get another NOTW (or double Merits)?
