I'm having the same issue. I opened a ticket with support.
My fear is that it may be related to this thread, regarding driver issues on for PC video cards.

They at least have the recourse of downloading & installing the latest drivers.
I just opened a ticket with support, too, and I encourage everyone seeing the problem to do so. Speaking as a software person, it's important to get as many reports as possible, because you never know which one will have the key piece of information that lets you crack the problem.

I'm on an ATI Radeon HD2600 and it is working for me. Which is nice. I will have to test later to see if I still get the talk to an NPC and hang crash.
Have any of you tried using safe mode?

Safe mode didn't help. I'm on an ATI Radeon HD 5750.
Come to think of it, I saw the same thing happen (or not happen, such as it is) when trying to run the issue 20 beta. I always assumed something was wrong with the download, and I didn't care to repeat it. Now I'm wondering if it's an issue that could have been avoided, had I done the troubleshooting then.

I clicked the "Safe Mode" box on the EULA screen and still no luck.
If this is a video card, that'd be really disappointing. I can't change the video card on my laptop... And I *just* spent $30 for Going Rogue, too

Having this same issue. Sent ticket.
Same issue on an imac straight after patching to i20. My pc runs fine, my mac is borked!
Annoying after the farce that was thursdays maintainance mistake!

Also, are you all using Macs with ATI video? I didn't have any black-screen problem, but I have an nvidia-based Mac.

Yup, I'm using ATI Radeon HD 5750 and drivers have been updated already. I've updated to the most current launcher available from the account downloader.

Hi Cuppa. I'm running the latest build, and I have a Radeon 5670.
Me, too. MAC OS X 10.6.7 (10j869) Darwin 10.7.0 on an iMac 11,3 Intel core i3, ATI Radeon HD 5670 @ 2560x1440. All software current.

Yep, I'm on a new iMac with the ATI Rad HD 5670 as well. OS and drivers are as up to date as they can be, I even trshed the old client and downloaded a new one. Still get the black screen.
Exact same issue here. New iMac - OS 10.6.6 - Radeon HD 5670
and today is my day off... my one day of the week I get to play CoH :'(
After updating, clicking "Next" and "I agree", I get a black screen. Another user also reported the same issue in the stickied Troubleshooting thread.
I trashed my preferences, started in safe mode, and verified files. No change. Anyone else seeing this, or have any insight?
(Late 2010 iMac, running 10.6.6)
