Update: the Public Test Server client works on my machine. There is a 4 second black screen between clicking 'I agree' and the CoH splash screen showing up.

I only took CoH through logging in a character, then exited as I had to leave for work.

I'm hoping the next thing I hear is that a mainstream patch for this problem is released!

Update: I sent in my System Profile report this morning, as requested by technical support. I just got a response requesting that I try the Mac Public Test Server client on my system. I will start downloading that client tonight after work and then give it a go tomorrow morning.

Ya know, I remain rather impressed by the high quality of technical support NCsoft provides. Just sayin'.

Me, too. MAC OS X 10.6.7 (10j869) Darwin 10.7.0 on an iMac 11,3 Intel core i3, ATI Radeon HD 5670 @ 2560x1440. All software current.

  5. Actually, for at least one of us, it goes beyond "not
    caring about PvP".

I've never tried PvP, and I doubt that I ever will. The
simple idea of PvP in CoH kind of creeps me out.

I prefer to work with Heroes, not beat up on them.

    Eh. Just my US$0.02.

  6. Astonishingly well done! Funny, yet informative.
    Thank you!

A secondary misconception of scrappers is
    that they're all "freaking psychotic."

Misconception? Nah. Dead on, I'd say.

Your post is especially poignant, CaptainAdept, as poor
Faelchu (see sig) has just met his first AV, and may have
to learn how to behave in polite company. Maybe not.
    We'll see.

I would like to suggest a footnote, though, if I may.
Regarding a feral scrapper's need to a target to call
their own: sometimes a feral scrapper will act out this
need in another manner. Instead of adopting a target to
call their very own, the feral scrapper will sometimes
adopt their team and woe betide the foolish baddie
who dares to attempt to harm the scrapper's adopted
team mates. Though in appearance this behavior appears
to be that of the civilized scrapper, its source
is different for the feral scrapper. The team needs
to be aware of this, as sometimes the feral scrapper's
attention snaps back and forth between a lone "real" target
and a lesser baddie damaging a team mate.

  7. Well said, Thermo!

Um, I am emp/rad, not emp/en. So we had 2 rad secondaries
    and 1 rad primary.

I'd like to add a couple comments to yours, if I may.

I think that the leadership displayed by Tazendra last
night was a major factor in our success, too. Kudoes
to Tazendra, I'd be happy to follow you anywhere.

I also think that the rad-heaviness of our team played
a interesting part. I was quite shocked at how fast
DE went down, and especially shocked at how fast Titan
went down. As you said, 1 ambrosia time... The combination
of our damage dealers and debuffing was irresistable.

An excellent team, and great fun. What more could anyone
    want?

  8. Just my US$0.02 on the post-I3 bosses.

My L34 bs/inv scrapper pre-I3 used to be able to solo most
bosses that conned orange. That seemed a touch too easy to
me, but hey. Who am I to complain about the XP gains that they
    gave me?

Now, post-I3, I can barely hold my own soloing against bosses conning
white. Yeow. Forget about soloing in missions that have a single boss,
    inspirations or not.

From my perspective, I would suggest that pre-I3 the bosses were a
touch too easy, post-I3 they are more than a touch too difficult.
Perhaps there is a happy medium in-between?

I'm not a power-gamer or even a particularly good gamer, really. I think
that you would call me an "enthusiastic" player, perhaps.

(this postscript added after finally reading Stateman's post on the invulnerability changes in the Dev Corner forum - Well, duh. Now I understand, I am seeing two effect combine: ++bosses, -inv. Eh. Back to teaming, I suppose. But you know? It was really nice to have the option to solo in order to clear mind from the effects of a really bad teaming...)
