i20 black screen

Thanks to Cuppa for clearing up the Plist thing, and to plainguy - I feel ya.

Thanks everyone, but this round I have to give a lot of credit to Paragon QA and NCSoft Support for figuring out that the older client (3069) didn't have the black screen problem with ATI video that the newer one (4462) does.

Paragon took a huge risk making the Mac version available. At the time they didn't know much about Macs. And the software they chose to make it work, Transgaming's Cider, is one of the most complicated pieces of technology out there.

I like to think the reason why they took that risk is because there are active player community members like us to help them out. Otherwise they probably wouldn't have taken the chance.

So you know I pretty much told support flat out I wasn't going to help unless compensated prior to posting my last post.

They replied back with a link to the test mac client. They also mentioned they are looking into compensation. So I would expect something for everyone eventually.

Further if you didn't guess by now they monitor IP addresses so they knew the moment I logged in with the test client and sent me an email. Just something to be aware of for future reference and keep in the back of your mind.

The only thing they sent me is the link to the mac us test client. So nothing else I can pass along to you beyond that if your still stuck.

Just would hate that your still down. I know if I was still down by today I was gonna go back to MoM ( see what I did there ). I'm just looking to pass sometime and have a bit of fun. I don't care what game I am really playing.

Test Client works, after a 13 hour download, little delay with a black screen not bad though maybe 10 seconds.

So I guess we just use the test client for now on or is this going to be fixed with the updated client? Another thing, why wasn't the new client tested along with the game content? Would have saved a lot of trouble and frustration.

This is the last MMO for me, after Asherons Call, Everquest, SWG, LoTR, WoW this has to be the most fun to play and the people that play the game are MUCH cooler than those of the other MMO's. So work out those Mac kinks and keep a customer. Thanks for everyones help and posts, helped a IMac newbie out.

Is anyone here still NOT able to play after downloading the older Test client?

Also I'd like to say to nobody in particular - a friend of mine works in support in the game industry (not for NCSoft, though). The NC Support people work long hours for not much pay, they deal with irate customers all day, when they have about as much say in what the developers and executives decide as we do. Please, give them a break.

I hate to d/l the test client again but I can play on my old PC with lowest graphics settings and this will suffice until a fix has been completed

I am not doing the Test Client trick. Instead, I am just waiting out the 3 hour Black screen. If my client crashes, I either wait another 3 hours or get up and do something else.

While not the most ideal, it will sufice until an update happens. I personally don't like having to "rollback" in order to play. Sounds stupid, but I'm just a "always move forward" kinda guy I guess.

I do hope they have a fix soon.

I downloaded test client, it took a couple of hours on my computer and i had to reset everything but so far its working with some annoyances. Blue hand cursor
doesnt show up, click and drag is a little wonky but its stable for the most part. I have played consistently for about 6 hours no problems.

The test server updater works fine for the US servers.

For some reason it doesn't work at all for the EU servers.

My account, of course, is now on the EU servers. Typical.
