  1. I've recreated a character that I made as a Stone Armor/Super Strength combo. Any suggestions on a build for this combo in light of the new/altered IOs out there now?

I probably want to go Stone/SS/Energy for the upper levels.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and input.
  2. The Union Supreme general theme is one of Modern Age heroism with Silver Age sensibility in the vein of Kurt Busiek's Astro City.

    The Basics:
    Group Name: Union Supreme
    Roleplay? Yes
    Recruiting? Yes
    Contacts: @davpa
    The History:

The Union Supreme's origins came about during a crisis.

In January, 2009, the United Nations held a confidential meeting in Martin Hall at Astoria Plaza. The Plaza had been mostly abandoned for years, overrun by criminals and the Banished Pantheon. A security team secured the Hall, but failed to detect the sub-basements where the Council-under the command of Archon Rossi-were manufacturing an anti-alien weapon.

By the time of the meeting, the weapon was nearly ready for deployment. Rossi sent Council troops, both human and robotic-but none tainted by the Nictus-to take over the building and take the UN representatives hostage. The attack did not go undetected.

The City Council and the Mayor authorized a small strike team let by the hero Solairis to rescue the hostages and stop whatever plans the Council hoped to advance. In addition, while the Plaza was cordoned off, a number of other heroes breached the cordon in a variety of ways to assist in whatever way they could.

In the end, Archon Rossi and his troops were defeated in a battle royale.
As the crisis developed, a briefing at the Department of Defense given by Lieutenant Colonel Nathan Fuller (ret.) encouraged the formation of a "Union Supreme" headed up by Solairis, and urged that this Union work under the auspices of the United Nations. Due to the fact that this group would be operating on United States territory for its home base, Fuller felt that the approval of the Joint Chiefs was necessary in order for a Union to become reality.

Shining Centurion spoke with Solairis after the hostages were freed, and the Council routed; Solairis, and close associates of his, spoke with others who were present at the incident.

On January 11, 2009, Solairis, Gods Speed, Liberty Rose, the Egalitarian, Shining Centurion, Shadespawn, Steel Brigade, Sonic Zoom, and the Emerald-Sentinel would be officially presented to Paragon City as the Union Supreme. Others would join soon after.

    The Basics

The Union Supreme is going through a bit of a relaunch. Many of the founding members have moved on. While we are not discarding the past, and will make a reference here and there, it is a time of renewal of the group. So if you were looking to establish a story then the Union could be a place for you.

    Looking for new Members:

We accept all origins/ATs. We are a moderate to heavy RP group. We like to think of ourselves as a fun group that has a good "family" core of players that are always looking out for each other. We play Red and Blue side together and support each other with story ideas, RP interaction, and just a good laugh or two.

As for what we do as a group, we do a variety of events. We run Task Forces, Tips, and Missions as well as create our own in AE. Any mission we do is always in an RP context. We do not follow traditional IC vs OOC format, but rather we follow Continuity vs Non-Continuity in regards to missions.

For more information, you can check out our page on Virtueverse or our website over on Guildportal.

Questions can be sent to @davpa. Also feel free to drop a line to us on our forums.
  3. can we unsticky this old thread and sticky the new one?
  4. Name: Union Supreme

Currently Recruiting: Always interested in new heroic RPers

RP Level: RP-focused, 95% IC spatial, OOC channel provided for group

PvP Level: none group sponsored, left for individual taste

Theme/Concept: The Union Supreme general theme is one of Modern Age heroism with Silver Age sensibility in the vein of Kurt Busiek's Astro City.

Activity: Our main RP night is Tuesday starting at 9pm EST. We have East and West Coast players, so the 9pm is splitting the difference.

Requirements for Membership: out-of-game communication on guild forums (see web-site).

Leadership: Doctor Spectro is the current chairman of the Union

    In-Game Contact(s): @davpa

Out-of-Game Contact(s): You can also get in touch with our officers from our website on the Roster page.

    URL: http://unionsupreme.guildportal.com

Coalition(s): a few support guild coalitions, but no major groups

Other Details: We like to think of ourselves as a fun group that has a good "family" core of players that are always looking out for each other.

  5. Not sure why this hasn't been updated, so here we go. Heroes show us where you are. (Template copied from Grae_Knight's layout for Feb. '08 - June '08)

    Name: SG Name

Currently Recruiting: You are / are not accepting new members; not recruiting new members but looking for other players/SGs interested in RP; not looking for anyone new in any way but wanting to let others know you exist, etc.

RP Level: RP-friendly, RP-intensive, RP-lite, nonRP, /sg IC, 100% IC spatial, etc., what degree of immersion do you expect or require?

PvP Level: Casual, hard-core, arena, zone, etc..

Theme/Concept: Briefly describe your SG's theme and/or concept (Longbow or other NPC-oriented group, Single Origin, Single Archetype, etc.) or general raison d'ĂȘtre

Activity: How many unique members do you have, what times (of which time zones) are your members active, which days of the week do you see the most log on - when is your "prime time" (so to speak)

Requirements for Membership: Must be at least level #, out-of-game communication on guild forums (please also list URL forums if different from website), no alts in other SGs, no villains on Virtue, daily log-in, etc.

    Leadership: Character name(s)

    In-Game Contact(s): @Global for in-game contact(s)

Out-of-Game Contact(s): CoH's Virtue Forum handle(s) for PMs or email address(es) for those interested to seek more information when not logged in

    URL: The group's website

Coalition(s): If you wish to reveal them here, you might also describe the nature of it: alliance, RP adversarial, functional, alt overflow, etc., or whether it is an IC or OOC associate.

Other Details: Feel free to add any other important information like base setup, frequency of TF/SF scheduling, prestige generation expectations / goals, or anything else of general but significant appeal.
  6. *****
    Name: Entropy Legion

Currently Recruiting: Always looking for people to join the Legion that is looking for RP.

RP Level: RP-friendly; RP-intensive, 95% IC spatial with an OOC Channel for the group. Willing to take risks with characters and not just play "I'm EVIL!!" characters, but more of losers.

PvP Level: Casual to none, but not discouraged

Theme/Concept: Entropy Legion is a silver-age style group of villains bent on the usual "conquer the world" or "the greatest heist" concept. We are a lot like the Legion of Doom, in where one member will come up with a Plot (created in AE) and the rest of the Legion will then help that Plot in order to have the Legion be victorious.

Of course, being the people that villains usually are, we mess up and are a bit screwed up. We are enjoying the RP of what it would be like if severely quirky and dysfunctional people were stuck in a room together.

Activity: We have scheduled nights that run on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, but there is usually a few Legion people online at any point.

Requirements for Membership: out-of-game communication on guild forums (see below).

Leadership: The Entropy Legion is a group of equals and will follow anyone with the stones to come up with a plan. ((player @davpa is the leader of the group, but ICly other characters "out rank" or dominate over other characters. ICly, different players will "lead" the Legion at different times.))

In-Game Contact(s): @davpa can be considered the main contact

Out-of-Game Contact(s): You can also get in touch with our officers and Henchmen from our website on the Roster page.

    URL: http:entropylegion.guildportal.com

Coalition(s): we have a few coalitions, but we stay pretty much self-contained. But always looking to add friends to the Rogue Isles.

Other Details: We like to think of ourselves as a fun group that has a good "family" core of players that are always looking out for each other. We play Red and Blue side together and support each other with story ideas, RP interaction, and just a good laugh or two.

Currently, our RP has been taking our members into interesting areas. The Legion is in league with an NPC group called the Union of Dire Ambition, which acts as an umbrella organization. We've had to fight not only Heroes and Praetorians, but other extra dimensional threats as well as rival villainous gangs.

As for what we do as a group, we do a variety of events. We run Strike Forces, Tips, and Missions as well as create our own in AE. Any mission we do is always in an RP context. We do not follow traditional IC vs OOC format, but rather we follow Continuity vs Non-Continuity in regards to missions. We recently had a "Secret Origins Festival" where members created AE missions that focused on their character's past in some aspect. Next story arc approaching is:

Well, it would work if it didn't force me to subscribe in order to download. I hate these download service sites, so I refuse to subscribe. I've just been updating my Mid's by the method mentioned above with the Plist editing.

The wineskin did print until about a week or week-and-half ago. There was a few security updates from Apple and after that the program crashes when you try to print.

At least that seems to be the case for me. Those Apple updates are the only thing I can attribute to the change, as it was the only change to my computer in at least a month or more (outside of deleting user created files and such). If memory serves one of the updates was very specific to Java. Could that cause some issues with accessing the printer settings and causing a crash?
  9. Wow, thanks for the change. That was quite fast. I'll have to use "for the love of Statesman's grave" line more often.

For the love of Statesman's grave, can we get....
  10. can we, for the love of Statesman's grave, please have something other than The Crystal of Serafina (Ice Mistral SF) as a villain WST? The month of April it the WST twice. NOW it is the WST twice for May! What the hell? You guys did the same thing in December 2011 and January 2012 when Ice Mistral was on twice each of those months.

How about Mortimer Kal? How about Barracuda? How about ANYTHING but Ice Mistral's!!!

I know there is not as many Strike Forces as there are Task Forces, but we have enough not to run Ice Mistral constantly. Give The Beast Beneath the Mountains (Virgil Tarikoss SF) and Pirates of the Skies (Silver Mantis SF) were last used as WST in August 2011. What about them once in a while?
  11. ever since my Mac did the Java update, a few days ago, I have not been able to print from the Mid's Wineskin Wrapper build. It crashes every time. I tried using my Time Machine back up to see if it was just the update I did for the new Mid's, but it crashes too.

Anyone else having this issue? It seems to be the only thing affected in the program is the ability to print.
  12. Any news on fixing the bug in the wrapper? Just don't want to see this just fall off of a cliff.
  13. Davpa_CoX

    Virtue PvP?

Well, that is why Virtue is the unofficial RP server, because PvP is not the focus. There are plenty of other servers that have strong PvP activities going on. If you want PvP go to Freedom, Victory, Justice, or Champion. If you want to RP go to Virtue or Union. If you want to run around pantsless and do "Speedo Hami Raids" go to Triumph.

For those that whine "But I want to PvP on Virtue", get over it. There are at least 4 servers that have strong PvP communities. Go there. Why try squeezing a blood out of a stone? Let one server be for those that have no interest in PvP.
  14. While not to the extent of what you describe, I've had something similar happen once or twice. For me, when you sit in the Market too long it causes the client to crash. Very rarely it takes down the whole system, which is a whole other tread to ***** about. Anyways, a few times it caused this loop where the Market screen was automatically open when the character launched and if I didn't close it right away it would cause another crash.

Once I had to just do a repair of the program through the NC Launcher and then relaunch the character again. When the Market screen popped up I just closed it as fast as I could.

I hope you get it worked out, that must be very frustrating. The Market is buggy for sure, but not to be able to use it like how you describe is just plain awful. My suggestion? Open contents of the package and save any Logs and Screenshots you wish to keep and then trash the CoH client. Download a new one and hope for the best. It sounds like something didn't update properly and now you are in this horrible loop. That is my $0.02.
  15. I've never seen the demotion feature work. I have a few officers that have well exceeded their drop time and they are still in the ranks. I don't want to kick them because they are important in the history of the group, but I want them to demote down the ranks. I wish they would actually get that feature to work.
  16. I don't mean to shanghai your thread...but I'm shanghaiing your thread...

I too have a Grav/Time controller that I'd like some feedback on. Since the tweak to Gravity I've changed things up a bit. Now my attack chain typically goes: Wormhole > Grav Distortion > Lift > Propel. I throw around a thick layer of Distortion Field, Crushing Field, Time's Juncture, Time Crawl, and Farsight. Of course I have my Singularity out to draw fire and to do all the wonderful things that Singularity does.

Since the tweak, and gaining my Singularity, I've been able to solo without too much problems, as long as I take my time and pick off my mobs smaller chunks at a time. Thank goodness for Wormhole.

    Feedback welcomed.

  18. So, Gravity has now been tweaked. How is everyone feeling about the changes? Impact certainly gives some good punch to what was very weak damaging Primary power.

What changes have you made now because of the changes to Lift, Propel, Wormhole, Singularity, and Dimension Shift? What about the additions of the AT IO's? How has Will of the Controller changed your build formula?

As for tactics, I've found that I've altered what I normally did with my Grav/Time 'troller, which was mostly getting sent to the hospital. Now that Wormhole does not cause aggro or reveal your location, I use it a lot to pick apart mobs and work on softening them up. Most of the time, this is my tactics:

I throw around Gravity Distortion Field, Time Stop, and Farsight whenever I need. With all the stun from the Wormhole and the Distortion Field, I usually have a lot of time to zap my foes. With a few Time Stops thrown around, I keep damage suffered to myself to a minimum.

So any changes to your tactics with the changes in Gravity?
  19. The Claw/Super Reflexes type of Stalker seems to be not a popular one, or one that is keeping quiet (darn Stalkers). Any suggestions on a all purpose build for a Claw/SR?

Actually, my totals are still shy of the Incarnate soft-cap, so this is not exactly overboard. But I get what you are saying about the Energy issue.

Again, this was a build someone did for me and I went with it, as I'm still learning effective Build....building. My assumption, the set bonus for KC in the recharge dept was the goal of this builder, as well as giving another melee tool. I tend to use Boxing as my in-between attack chains, but it certainly looks like I can sacrifice that set for somewhere else.

    Always tinkering with these things.
  21. Just wanted some constructive suggestions from the "Tanker Tibunal" on this build. This was suggested to me by someone else and I've been working with it. Things seem fine, I just wanted other opinions. My problem is that I am on a Mac and I can't run Mids.

Outside of a Psionic whammy, this character just takes a beating without flinching, so I've been very happy. But as they say, there is always room for improvement.

And yes, there is no ranged power outside of Hurl. I wanted it that way. This character is always in a group who is heavy with range. I wanted to concentrate on "local" as that fits my theme of the character too.

  22. Just wanted to see some feedback from the "Corruptor Court" out there on this build. My big problem is I am on a Mac and I can't run Mid's to view this myself in the number crunching ways. But I will say that I am having fun with this build, so I know it is far from broken or anything. Mostly I'm just looking for some constructive suggestions.

Now, let me also tell you my "play style" for this character: I tend to be a more support character. I'll sit at range and blast with volleys of Neutron Bombs and my debuffer powers. At times I'll run into a crowd with my Choking Cloud to help a team member that might be struggling. A few Irradiates and a few hits of Radiant Aura and then I pull back and throw more Neutrino Bolts/X-Ray Beams/Neutron Bombs around.

I love breaking defenses. Radiation Infection, Lingering Radiation, and Neutron Bombs get thrown around like it is going out of style. Cosmic Burst is my go to weapon to finish off things.

Even though I have Spiritual Core Alpha listed, I tend to use Cardiac Core 90% of the time. I'm still debating on what feels better for me. I had an instance where I ran out of "juice" when I was using the Spiritual and that just scared the bejezzus out of me. I might need someone to tell me not to be dumb and go with Spiritual on this build!

    Here is the build:

  23. Just rolled a Brute Titan Weapons/Energy Aura. I could use some suggestions as I rarely play Brute and never did Energy Aura before. Since Titan is new, I'm a bit in the dark.
  24. Thanks for the great feedback guys, I really appreciate it.

In defense of the original build, that was created by someone else when I was asking for suggestions on a complete support build. My initial intention was to be pure support, hence the lack of damage. For whatever reason that got in my head, I didn't take this character into my group to do what it was he we built for. And to prove my boneheadedness, I kept the same build as I continued to solo him.

So these suggestions to make him solo-able has been very helpful. I've taken Laevateinn's build and made one tweak. I followed Local Man's suggestion about using Propel. Instead of Hasten I took Propel. So far, it has worked out nicely. I don't find the recharge time without Hasten is terrible at all, so I think it is a good compromise.

So I'm going to use Laevateinn's slightly tweaked build for my solo version and then go back to my original, non-Teleport build, as a pure group support character. I'm going to see how that plays out.

If anyone has any other suggestions, please say so.
  25. Despite a lot of negative things I have read on the forums about Gravity, I have decided to go with as my first Controller a Gravity/Time. This is due mostly to conceptual reasons, as I'm more of an RPer than a Min/Max player. While I don't Min/Max I don't want to build completely stupid (i.e. unplayable) characters.

So here is the build I am working on, which is a slight adaption of a suggested Grav/Time.

The original suggestion was to have Leadership instead of Teleport for the power pools. I changed it to Teleport for a few reasons:
    1. This is a space/time manipulator! I have to have some teleport powers! Duh! This is more my RP thematic logic kicking in.
    2. So far, I have been soloing this character, so I thought Teleport Foe would be a good choice to pick apart larger mobs so I would not get squished.
    3. When I have teamed, everyone else had Leadership toggled so it felt redundant.

I understand I'm giving up Defense by not taking Leadership > Maneuvers, but I hope that is minimized by being able to pull one or two mob members at a time.

Currently, he is level 25. Solo is not easy, that is for sure. I recently worked on a 4 person team of Mortimer Kal SF and he worked very nicely there. I'm seeing where the Grav/Time works well in small-ish groups.

Do you think Dimension Shift, despite all its problems, might be a good thing to consider as a solo player? DS part of a mob and deal with other sections. Conceptually, that seems to have merit. What do you think?

What are other people's opinions on what I'm trying to do here with a Gravity/Time?
