The band's back from break, and they're going to play one or two more numbers before they kick us out. Don't miss the last dance.
We'll be here Friday, and there was chatter last night that some of us will be here Thursday, too. Heck, post here if you log in some other night, maybe you'll entice someone into joining you.
And if you've ever teamed with us, come say hi, and/or register at the website in my signature! -

Actually, they've stated more than once that it's a native port. Here's a link to a recent interview: http://www.tuaw.com/2012/10/31/lord-...-a-mac-client/.
Word is that the download is 16G! -
Wouldn't you know it, I finally hit tier 8 in the rewards program, so I can claim cool powers like /auctionhouse or /vault. Sigh. I'm probably better off taking Return to Battle at this point.
And speaking of the auction house, I managed to buy three Karma: Knockback recipes when I only needed one. So I put two of them (crafted) in the M&M base enhancement table (level 29 and 30, I think). Help yourself. -
This Friday, it's Halloween! Plus the middle respec is the WST. Last week, we still had two teams going part of the night!
Plus, if you're joining us in Rift on Sundays, Trion pulled our server out from under us (it's a "trial" server now). We moved to Laethys. See the other forums (in my sig) for details. -
If you want levels, this is the week! Double XP starts Thursday, and the WSTs are Silver Mantis/Penelope Yin. The latter in particular is short and sweet. Come join us Friday!
-
OK, our 4-week Champions test drive is done. Next up: Rift. Silkweb shard, Defiant faction. Meet in the tutorial, starting Oct. 21. Then for four weeks, Fridays will be CoH, Sundays in Rift. Hope to see you there!
-
This week's WST is 2 x Reichsman. How many people have 45+ characters they are still leveling? Plus, the summer event!
I'll be here this Friday, but next week, I'll be on vacation. -
...and the "which midnight" issue is further clarified. It'll be Friday, Nov. 30, our usual night. As an East coast early riser, I won't be there at the end, either, sigh.

There has been, to my knowledge, no change of plans. Friday: City of Heroes, Sunday: field trip.
On Sunday: meet at the beginning of the tutorial. I suggest we try to meet promptly than usual so we can all start together. -
Looks like we might adjust our field trip schedule. We are now tentatively thinking Fridays for CoH and Sundays for field trips. For you sports fans, that means home games on Fridays, away games on Sundays.
There's also been some other, associated discussion on the proposed course of our migration. Come to GuildPortal and make your voice heard.
I will try to keep this thread and the "Justice Superteamers" channel MOTC up-to-date with our plans. -
Hi folks,
Any of you who haven't joined us at the other site (see my sig), please come on over! We're currently planning our first field trip to another game. Please register so you can read the details in the members-only area.
Proposed plan is to spend upcoming Fridays sampling other games, and Sundays in CoH. Talk to us in-game tonight (Sunday) if you don't like that! -
OK, we've seen a lot of you over on the GuildPortal site, but not everyone (you know who you are). You should know that the Justice Superteamers Expeditionary Force is looking at maps, trying to find a land of milk and XPs to settle in. Like locusts. Or a plague of frogs. We'd like to have you in the discussion. Right now there's a kind of a poll going on, so if you don't want to register over there, somehow get your three choices for next potential watering hole to arafel, the designated Counter of Noses. PM him here or in game, or call him on his unlisted mobile if you happen to be his stalker (again, you know who you are). We don't actually have a plan yet, but if you check your contracts, I think you'll find that in most jurisdictions, you will be legally obligated to follow us wherever we choose. So you may as well get your say in.
Have I made myself perfectly clear? -
There's a few options listed in this thread (along with the non-native options).
Personally, I'll fiddle with Crossover and Wine a bit, but I won't install Windows. However, for pure native, I am waiting eagerly for the native LoTRO client that was announced (due this fall, allegedly). -
Every time I play a melee character in a team, I remember why I don't like playing melee characters in a team. I'm going to finish getting Thalatta (water/storm) and Hex Chill (ice/time) to 50, then we'll see. Maybe my Peacebringer after that. She's done a lot of leveling with you folks.
Maybe we should start chatting about future plans tonight? -
The discussion is slowly heating up on our other site (see my sig) regarding which game we might want to migrate to. Come on over and post what you think. It's early, and no one's expressing strong opinions yet. Plenty of opportunity to be a mindshare-leader. Or if you don't want to sign up for an account, you can still read the forums.

Excellent question, and one I've been pondering myself, as my regular CoH group is thinking of migrating together to another game (I'm the only Mac user in my group, alas). None of what I list below is meant to be comprehensive.
First off, here's a link to a long list of Mac MMOs, longer than you ever thought possible. Lots of them are low-end browser-based stuff, though.
Some of the games that have full Mac support today(-ish) are: WoW, Eve, CoH, Warhammer, Fallen Earth, Lord of the Rings (with next expansion, in a month or two, and said to be native, not a Cider port).
Some games can be played in a "Wine" wrapper. Crossover is one (commercial) example of that technology, and they keep an extensive list of what runs and doesn't. Of note: Star Trek Online, Guild Wars 1, Rift, Dungeons and Dragons online, Champions online.
Personal note: I play Star Trek Online using a wrapper freely available on their forums. Works fine, at modest graphics settings. I tried Guild Wars 1 with Crossover a few years ago, and it, too, ran fine (after the 2-week trial, I returned to CoH instead). I haven't tried the others.
Notable exceptions that don't currently work in wrappers: Star Wars TOR, Guild Wars 2; people are working hard on both. The Secret World currently seems marginal, from what I've read on Crossover's forums.
Upcoming games with promised Mac support: Elder Scrolls online (2013), and the Shadowrun MMO (probably much later, just getting started).
And don't count out browser games! They are getting far more impressive every day. I am intrigued by City of Steam. It's in alpha, but check out gameplay videos on YouTube; doesn't look like a browser game!
Hope that helps someone else who refuses to install Windows in any way. -
You've played a lot of games!
Interesting data point: I logged into my NCSoft account and found my billing date was yesterday (Sept. 2). No charge was made, and I'm still VIP. Here's hoping... -
And on the subject of other games...are there any games that are as alt-friendly as CoH? With such a variety of classes/powersets? Looking back, it seems like I made an average of about one new character a month that I kept and didn't delete (so about 36 over 36 months for me, which I know is fewer than a lot of people). And I've barely made a dent. Any other games that have even a fraction of that level of choice?
-
And if anyone ever doubted the power of Google...if you search for "Justice Superteamers", you will find both our forum threads and the new Guild Portal site.
-
It's not clear how much of our discussion will stay here or shift over there. I suspect it doesn't matter much as long as there is a "here".
Note that the forums on the Guild Portal site can be viewed without signing up, if you just want to see what's going on. Some discussion has begun on other MMOs we might migrate to, if we chose to do so. -
We should do a quick brainstorm tonight (Sunday) on 3rd party communication channels. I could see the official forums being shut down very quickly, if they don't want to pay people to moderate and don't want to leave them unmoderated.
To be honest, I expect the game to be shut down long before Nov. 30 as well. The statement NCSoft gave to IGN said "begin...sun setting process immediately". If we assume they are unconcerned with the reaction of either the CoH or the larger gaming community, as the timing and tenor of their original decision and announcement suggests, then I would guess they will pull the plug as soon as they can. Since turning off servers is trivial, that may be just the time it takes for them to terminate Paragon's financial and legal obligations (employee benefits, maybe refunds, whatever). -
I'm thinking about maybe a dark/dark controller. It would be a very comfortable toon to play.
I am also tempted to go back to my second character ever, a dark/fire scrapper. I am not good with melee to begin with, and that combination is (at least for me) not an easy one. But I keep trying. He never made it past level 30. I might transfer or clone him over to Justice.
