Subcontracting to Time Lords?

Do the city leaders of paragon city subcontracts some of their construction to time lords? The reason I am asking this is because after three years of game play I have noticed that the inside of city hall is larger than the outside. I know this, because I took the time to step it off with my character. Why would I do something so boring? Because I work in construction and these things bother me. They are a kind of a pebble in my shoe so to speak.

The biggest issue I have is the evil door of code violation.

I even created a photo bucket account to share this one. My SG mates can attest the vile I spew every time I see it. You do not put stairs under a door! RANT RANT RANT.

My hubby came home to this rant and decided to throw some fuel on the fire (He was giggling the whole time) by pointing out the train tunnels in Talos. What kind of roller coaster is going on in that hill to make that elevation drop? ::eye twitch::

I have also noticed the lack of wheel chair ramps anywhere! To get in to the hospital in atlas you have a five foot high set of stairs; and that building has no emergency exits; and no windows! What are they doing in that building?!

I would like to praise the devs on some of their new maps. Making warehouse that look like a warehouse. What a novel concept! I look forward to some of the new designs.

So guys what are some of the crazy layouts you have seen?

All the buildings are bigger on the inside than the outside.

And have you seen some of the pipes coming out of the buildings in Cap au Diable? Do they hire Freakshow plumbers?

What is with the layouts of these office buildings? There's very little actual office to them. And who puts in a separate elevator to access each floor?

Someone has pointed out that Pocket D has a handicapped bathroom at the top of some stairs. Actually the way the game treats stairs they're more like ramps anyway; anything usable in Granite should be usable in a wheelchair, although the steep inclines and lack of handrails could be a problem. Maybe they just hand out Raptor packs to the handicapped so they don't have to go around installing wheelchair ramps.

City Hall was built during a buyer's market on extradimensional space.

Maybe you haven't noticed but City of Heroes is a super hero game. The world has advanced cybernetic prosthetics available to everyone. Wheelchairs are a thing of the past. Antiques that are no longer needed in the modern world, and since wheelchairs are a thing of the past so are wheelchair ramps.

They don't need emergency exits in the building. City of heroes has an advanced emergency teleport system that can easily evacuate everyone inside the building to the next nearest emergency facility.

City of Heroes is frequently under attack by Super Powered Villains, Invading Aliens, Hordes of Undead, Snow Monsters, and various Giant Monsters which cause untold billions in property damage. As such all medical facilities are required by city ordinance not to have windows because people can be badly hurt by shards of flying glass and whatever else could possibly come crashing thru a window.

And exactly where would you put the stairs? Above the door? I can tell you that that won't work. Stairs always go under the door. How else would people get into their basements, off their front and back porches etc. Out of their second or third floor apartments when their door is on the outside of the building?

Then why are there handicapped bathrooms?

According to Roy Cooling's arc, civilians don't have access to it. You have to become a hero or turn to a life of crime to get emergency teleported.

That's... LOGIC! EVERYONE knows that logic never works in an internet discussion... or even a real life discussion :P

A holdover from earlier times. They're built now more out of tradition.

Building code violations huh? Never really occured to me before now because y'know, it's a game. But now I'm going to be looking for them... Damnit!

she meant directly under stairs. You know, to avoid it kind of being like opening some doors in the Winchester Mansion that leading out into open air and people falling down them? Usually they install a landing.

What aboutthe fact that despite having trucks and autos:

- None stop at traffic lights
- They never actually park
- There is no refilling station (gas station for those that do not understand and for our EU bretheren a Petrol station)

And you have bus stops, but no busses?

And you have ATMs that do not allow you to use them. (Must be out of network)

And payphones that will not let you actually call your contact yet you do not call the contact on a cell when you are calling to get a new mission. (At least give us a link to the cellphone emote when calling like you do with the PPD Radio or make us visit a payphone)

And last but not least...

Emergency Vehicles? Where are they? We got police that have to walk everywhere and firemen that have to stand around and count on the good nature of heroes to put out the fires.

/em facepalm

Oh, yeah, there is no facepalm emote.

This one's easy.

Two words: Mayhem Missions. I've punched so many police cars and vans into ashes that my hands permanently smell like flashing lights.

Or maybe that's the ozone created by Electric Melee.

Yes there is. You just haven't unlocked it yet.

Not necessarily. Even if advanced cybernetic prosthesis are available, you can't force them on someone. Some people might refuse because of personal reasons. Others may refuse because of religious reasons. So yes, there still could be people in wheelchairs.

In Paragon City? Don't be absurd. Hoverchairs! That's the ticket.

The Cultural Direction & Education Center in Imperial City has no bathroom for men that I've been able to find, just multiple ones for women.

This one is just plain mean:

Yes, the only way up or down is that narrow staircase.

I just had the COOLEST mental image of those stairs transforming into ramps when it 'sensed' a wheelchair incoming.

The warehouses in Nova Praetoria where the door is a located under the road, by the river and looks like a maintenance access door. How do they load the trucks? There's no additional access anywhere?

I hate Skyway City for numerous reasons but they're all compounded by the fact that the skyways are pointless. Ignoring the "barely any cars" thing, if you follow them from end to end, they start as a two land road, open into a six lane road and then revert back into a two lane road with no other entrance/exit ramps or anything to justify their existence.

And, to be fair, I used to make the "How large is the budget for giant granite statues" joke but then RWZ came out with the ruined statues. Seeing that they're steel frames with a concrete shell over them and not solid stone made me feel a little better

Those are for villains. Their handicap is being evil.

Oh please the civilians in this game don't use hospitals. They are invulnerable and shove heros and villains around like they aren't even there.

Those aren't really civilians. They are clearly Incarnates in civilian dress. They'd had their Omega Slot for years.

There's only one fireman in all of Paragon.

And none in the Rogue Isles, which is why Mercy Island is always on fire. Although how anyone could drive a fire truck on those roads is beyond me.
