Discussion: Animal Pack In Game Giveaway!

Looks like 1 shot of codes for each location, so last ones will be forums...

"we will also be giving away Animal Pack codes (10 European AND 10 North American codes each time) on Twitter between 10:00 a.m. PST (6:00 p.m. GMT) and 12:00 p.m. PST (8:00 p.m. GMT), on Facebook between 12:00 p.m. PST (8:00 p.m. GMT) and 2:00 p.m. PST (10:00 p.m. GMT), and on the Forums"

I will say I preferred the older style of this...

20 individual codes posted to each feed,
10 NA and 10 EU per feed: Forums, Twitter and Facebook.
But with the twist of instead of being upside down or whatever,
The codes were missing 1 or 2 characters a time.

That adds an element of skill and guesswork to the codes giving players a chance to randomly hit a valid code.
Meanwhile you may be delayed on the next code... (Unless you read the post saying it was claimed.)

Hint: If I was looking for a code from FB or the forums, then maybe that suggests the answer you seek? Hmm?

I typed in the first EU one I saw, which was backwards and upside down. I have no problem reading that way, which I guess is an advantage in these things.

I had two browser windows open; one had the CoH Facebook page open and on auto refresh in Opera, and one auto refreshing the redeem code page. Soon as I saw it was up I clicked the link, typed in the first thing I saw and got it.

So, apologies to those who didn't get one, but I've missed out on plenty of these things before, I was damn sure not gonna miss out on this one.

Oh good, the forums are back up earlier than they said. I was worried that the entire time the codes were suppose to be posted would be during the down time.

Did they visit Pocket D 2 on any server? We heard reports that they did on Liberty, but they did NOT on Pinnacle.

Why are the Devs only visiting Pocket D 1 on every server? They Visited 2, 3, and 4 on freedon and virtue!

Well, due to the sudden maintenance, it looks like the forum codes aren't up yet. So if you missed out during the Party, you can still try here.

Really disappointed that this is random. I thought it was gonna be a costume contest like past giveaways.

They woulda been there all night trying to judge that.

It was definitely better to do it randomly. It was a giveaway, not a contest.

I'll just buy it on the 23rd it looks like.

I think they might visit most instances of Pocket D on Virtue, as it's their last stop for the evening, and it's the unoffical furry capital of the multiverse - so people who haven't had a chance to get the codes yet should probably think about making an avatar on Virtue right now, and then try and get in early to the D.

We can't make it like a contest unfortunately. At least everybody has a chance when it's random

Also Beastyle and I make every effort to visit all instances but the schedule is tight to make sure our codes are all distributed on time before the next server. The Animal Pack giveaway has certainly attracted the most people so far though, it was crazy having all servers with at least 2 instances of Pocket D!! You peeps are a wild bunch

The Party Pack giveaway was a competition, and it didn't take "all night". Avatea went around looking at costumes and picked 3 she liked. Pretty simple.

EDIT: Was I mistaken about how the last one worked? Or did marketing have a fit and say no more costume contests?

First of all, Avatea, thank you very much for going to all instances of a server even if you didn't have anything to offer. That kind of dedication to your customer base is highly appreciated, even when there's no real good news to offer.

The dilemma: Based on population of all the servers, even showing up *twenty* minutes early relegated my characters to instance 2, 3, or 4. I'm *certain* I speak for others who don't have the luxury of camping out on City Of all day that this is not very equitable or accessible to the bulk of the player-base.

While it is true, it rewards the most obsessed/dedicated/work-at-home/game-at-work types for having access, it also *punishes* individuals who weren't so lucky to have that option.

This will probably lead to feelings of ill-will--I don't have them, I was lucky enough to get into a couple of instances where the packs were being handed out--but what about the person just getting home now, attempting to log into Virtue... and they're in PD5?

This sort of approach will probably be reviewed for effect after the event, one can only hope the lessons learned from it will be applied to future such events.

That all being said, thank you for your time on this, it must be very hard to do all of this work.
