Forget Spidey movie pix - here's New Venom

If that's supposed to be Venom, I have to say: What kinda bulls### is that?!??!

Otherwise: Maybe it is a single soldier from an army of Spiderman hunters? The costume itself is pretty okay... as long as it is not intended for use by any character that currently exists, that is.

Punisher Venom was in a "What If..." before.

I want the old Eddie Brock Venom back. I also hate how they completely vilified the symbiote.

Id love it IF IT WASN'T VENOM!

Venom is by far my favorite comic character of all time, but they have turned him to complete crap. The last good Venom ANYTHING was that self titled 18 issue run a few years ago.

Everything since then has just ruined him. SCREW YOU MARVEL!

Spidey does it all the time. Just usually letting go of another web, instead of firing a weapon behind him.

The artist is paying homage to the cover from ASM #300, done by Todd M.

This.

As a team of Spiderman hunters/whatevers? Not that bad.
As an individual? No.
As Venom? LOLNO.

And I don't even really like Venom.

That aside, the top half of the costume's not bad. It's taking the general design and armoring it up a little. The bottom half though is stupid.

Believe it or not, but McFarlane dolesn't pencil. Never really did. He drew everything straight from ink. Crazy, huh?

So he's a tracer, then?

No, he just draws in ink as any sane person would draw in pencil first. Apparently white out is his "eraser."

Odd thing is i thought more the stupidity of Deadpool crossed with the past coolness of venom. Still idiotic for sure, but just kinda funny how really i can see now the punisher aspect of your comment but i instantly jumped to the idea that everything marvel has to tie into deadpool somehow, and then if not wolverine.

Holy crap that's bad.

I am torn between wanting this title to die a quick and painful death, and wanting to buy every issue just to say I have them.

ok.. so DC is coming out with a fantastic game drawing new interresse to theior universe... and is still making movies just as good as Marvel is. DC at the moment has better stories and better art.

And Marvel is really really killing their whole universe. And I am a Marvel fan ownling complete series of old comics...

This Venom is the worst idea EVER!

- The Italian Job: The Godfather Returns #1151
Beginner - Encounter a renewed age for the Mook and the Family when Emile Marcone escapes from the Zig!
- Along Came a... Bug!? #528482
Average - A new race of aliens arrives on Earth. And Vanguard has you investigate them!
- The Court of the Blood Countess: The Rise of the Blood Countess #3805
Advanced - Go back in time and witness the birth of a vampire. Follow her to key moments in her life in order to stop her! A story of intrigue, drama and horror! Blood & Violence... not recommend to solo!

They are?

I thought all they had so far was Batman. I know Green Lantern's on the way, but I don't think we can count that as a win until it's released.

Or are we counting V and Watchmen. I suppose they were successful, though I'd rate 'em about on par with Incredible Hulk, which I think was Marvel's least successful flick.

Sadly, Brock/Venom is looong gone and barring lots of retconing and hand-waving of plot developments, not coming back.

Gargan/Venom joined the government run Thunderbolts. Gargan lost the symbiote for reasons I don't know offhand, leaving the military with the suit. The military decides to temporarily give the suit to a current Spider-Man supporting cast member and send him on covert missions with it. I'll give it a shot, but it my interest really depends on who gets the suit.

I forget his exact reasoning (which made sense when I read it like 10 years ago) but when he was drawing the book McFarlane intentionally put Spider-Man in as many limb breaking poses as he could.

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.

good luck D.B.B.

I would think it be to emphasize the extreme extent of his enhanced flexability

I'm pretty sure it says "Moore after MacFarlane" which means that the penciler of the picture, Tony Moore, is doing an homage to the MacFarlane drawn ASM 300 cover. Common industry practice to put in little notes like that.

Really false. One excellent movie in The Dark Knight, the end.

I honestly can't recall the last time I read a regular DC series book I liked. A couple of their one-offs have been quite good, but overall I find them uninteresting.

Based on appearances, maybe. I'll wait to see what they do with it. There have been plenty of other comics that seemed ridiculous on the face of it but turned out to be really good. I saw the previews and description for The 49ers and thought, "This is dumb - a whole world where everyone is a superhuman, even the janitor?" But it's terrific. X-23, the first successful clone of Wolverine... what an eye-rolling idea. But it is, hands down, the single best graphic novel I've read this decade.

So maybe this will be good, who knows?

In the most recent Spider-Man storyline, "Big Time" (which is superb, btw), Venom is captured and they rip the symbiote off of Gargan. Which almost kills him until a visitor steps in and offers a way to save him. Which is a nice tertiary storyline that's cooking along underneath the two main stories in the arc. Gargan will come back with a vengeance, I'm sure.

I'm thinking SHIELD will ultimately regret weaponizing the Venom symbiote, but if Dan Slott continues his excellent storytelling, it will be an extremely entertaining ride.

Some writer at some point said that people were kind of creeped out by how Spider-man moved, so McFarlane was running with that concept. Super-flexible and "double-jointed" and fast = weird-looking.
