Marketing Steps Up - City of Heroes Toys!
Lol. I saw those when I was in California last year.
Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.
Maybe I have a bad case of 'deja vu', but I recall seeing a post about those action figures earlier this year (can't find the exact post, my search-fu is weak )

Just in time for Christmas, City of Heroes TOYS!
Lets put aside all the vitriol for the Marketing Department and celebrate their latest accomplishment, the City of Heroes Action Figures! This pack celebrates City of Heroes' ability to mimic trademark characters such as, but not entirely for copyright reasons, Power Rangers, Spiderman, Batman and more! ((I was recently and completely against my will in a seedy flea market in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and stumbled upon this. Of all the logos for petty unlicensed toy manufacturers to use they found OUR'S, really?! Too funny not to share, Merry Christmas!)) |
You win at the internet. Forever.
I am sad, the images don't work now.
Wonder how much lead paint is in those suckers, lol.
Hate to use bad words like 'Warcraft'. But it would be nice if CoX ever managed to market this game like they manage their merchandice. Statesman figurines, collector cards, w/e. Then have it all available online. |
I think City of is something that would do better with things like posters, t-shirts, and little key finders that make the glowie hum (as per-a steelclaw suggestion. Or was it Moo?).
On second thought though: maybe Gundam-esque model kits of various robots from in-game might be cool, but it might become a bit mis-leading as to what this game's about.

GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

If they don't come equipped with the "FREEM" sound effect, I don't want them.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
Alright, who wants to make a Virtue SG of these guys? I got dibs on the blue one.
Currently on Virtue:
Jinrazuo - Crab Spider
RWZ All-Pylon Solo Run
These guys actually remind me of Synapse/Neuron and their Marvel vs Capcom-esque alternate colors.

So is there a company I can order these from or is the entire country of China responsible for making them?

I think CoH's own DrainBamage does pretty good work.
So what is Marketing's response to you saying that about a piece of work that violates at least three if not four companies trademarks?
|
I got an admission out of NCsoft staff and have quoted them as saying that; "merchandise for CoH should have been implemented 2 years ago" - and that was way back at the beginning of September 2007 after the Birmingham Comic-Con.
In short I'll be very surprised / borderline outright shocked If we ever got anything out of NCsoft for City of Heroes. I'm not convinced they think there is enough demand to expand on the limited selection in the shop, and re: merchandise, well that is a goldmine... but its a bone I've given up on chasing for a long time.
Marketing believes direct advertising via the web and keeping close-ties with MMO sites pays better dividends on a cost-basis for the franchise.
You missed the point.
I was referring to the fact that the item violates trademarks of these companies :
NCSoft (That's the CoH logo, looks like to me. Font an all)
Marvel (Two difference Spiderman images)
DC (Batman)
And most likely Saban - those look like actual power rangers in the background, not just Sentai-like-heroes.

It's difficult to comprehend the lack of integrity and craftsmanship.
I deal with it pretty constantly where I am, heh.
