I can't seem to switch sides, am I the only one?

I've been trying for days to switch back to Hero on my Scrapper, and I've stalled at Rogue. No matter how many enemies I kill in Paragon City, in missions or on the street, I'm not getting any tip drops. My fame bubbles are empty, and I'm killing enemies over 20, and yet I have no tips. I even went back to the Rogue Isles, and I haven't secretly gotten any tips there, so what's the deal? Am I the only one, or is there no way to switch sides now?

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

The devs have turned off side-switching just for you. Because they hate you.

Find somewhere where there are a large number of spawns with gray conning bosses. Defeat the bosses and ignore the trash mobs. Boss rank enemies have a much higher chance of dropping tips than others.

But aren't tips supposed to drop from mobs approximately the same level as you?

No, they have to be at least level 20, but they can con deep grey to you.

No, they drop from any enemy of level 20 or higher. So smacking down grays still works, so long as their actual level is 20+.

I'm not sure why Vanden isn't getting tips, honestly. The behavior he's described should have gotten him plenty o' tips and put him well on the road back to blue.

umm.... bad luck, I guess. I soloed the Baby New Year mission on my tank, set to team size of 6, and had my 3 tips in one run.

Apparently it's a bug with Rogues at the moment. A friend in game has been having the same problem and he was told this in reply to his petition.

Oh, no. Devs hate Rogues more than villains.

I'm experiencing this on my rogue.

I've got to say, with stuff like this cropping up, I'm really looking forward to/hoping for a COH 2, so they can fit all this in ahead of time (and know what the code *does,* instead of "Er - guys, taunt didn't work the way we thought" and "why did that bug come back again?") instead of trying to retrofit these newer features and systems onto the existing game.

Even if they write entirely new code with all the existing and future systems in mind, with helpful comments on every section, there will *still* be "oops, changing that seems to have broken something in a completely unrelated place". It's unavoidable in a project of this size.

My Cold/Ice Defender is on her way back to hero (Scorpion Shield is love itself) and she hasn't had any problems getting tips. My standard killing bosses in Striga hasn't let me down yet.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

My Rogue went from 24 to 25 without a single tip. I figured it was just really bad luck, but this is some kind of known issue?

He's one tip and one alignment mission away from Vigilante, so it's particularly frustrating.

didn't have any issues switching from villain->rogue->hero over this last weekend, apart from one tip mission that I was unable to complete because it seems the last of the mob was nowhere on the map... abandoned it, did the other tip missions, re did it and all was golden.

Last couple of days I took my night widow from villian > Rogue > Hero with no problems at all. If there is a bug for Rogues getting tips its not impacting everyone yet.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to find someone else running tip missions and join them for theirs.

Yep it'll work until someone comes up with [cool new feature du jour] which they didn't account for.

Player: "I keep crashing when I use Taunt, why is that?"
Customer Support: "Are you using direct neural interfacing?"
Player: "Yes"
Customer Support: "It's a bug caused by using direct neural interfacing and Taunt, it turns out that since the Taunt effectiveness is based on volume yelling to loudly causes the Taunt magnitude to go out of range and crashes the game."

This. Bill's expecting a static product that works out the box but evolution dictates there will be some unforseen side effects.

Of course they could always roll back to I1

Issue 1 was full of bugs too.

But back the the OP, you can add my name to the list of Rogues unable to get tip missions. Full set of radio missions plus the safeguard earned me a pair of incarnate shards but no tips.

That's where your problem is - you're trying to become a hero by killing people, which won't work - you need to defeat them.

LoL.

I also have been having this problem. Since it's a bug, apparently, I'll just have to stop playing this character until I can switch again (I don't want to level any more before I can join my SG, in order to maximize prestige).

I'm having this problem on my Ice Dominator. Everything seemed to be working fine at first. I'm only two tips away from being able to do the Morality mission and become a hero, and the tip drops just stopped cold. It was really odd. I went from getting one tip every radio mission to absolutely nothing over the course of 2 hours. I even zoned back to the Rogue Isles and checked, but he has no villain tips that could be screwing up the count.

I'm hoping that since the bug seems so intermittent I'll be able to finish side switching him soon. Push comes to shove I can always have a friend run with me for his hero tips I guess. It's just kind of annoying.

As an update, it's been happening to my Scrapper (already a Hero) as well. 16 radio missions later, not a single tip.
