The 2010 Winter Event is nearly upon us and will bring new presents and dangers to Paragon City, the Rogue Isles and Praetoria. You will be able to stop Lady Winter's plot to freeze the world, visit the Ski Chalet and race to win prizes. Unlock Snow Flake Emotes, Winter-themed costume pieces and earn special badges.

Starts: 9:00 a.m. PDT - 12:00 p.m. EDT - 5:00 p.m. GMT - 18:00 Central European Time, Friday, December 17, 2010
Ends: 11:59 p.m. PDT - 2:59 a.m. EDT - 7:59 a.m. GMT - 8:59 Central European Time, Sunday, January 2, 2011

We'll announce more details on the 2010 Winter Event next week so keep your eyes peeled!

Wish it was longer and didn't end at jan 2nd. As i'll be gone most of the x-mas and will be home when it ends.
Oh well, i should get some skiing done between 17th and 20th anyway.

Week longer would be nice tho!

Once more we must beat the crap outta mutated reindeer and snow monsters to rescue the ugly baby.

Cancel the kitchen scraps for widows and lepers, no more merciful beheadings and call off christmas!

Everyone know the Tank Archetype get the most drops of all the types. This is because of their "Death Dealing" powers. I call it the front line bonus...but you'll never read this in the wiki - "Rx10"

Was just thinking this. I've been devoid of CoH for a little while because I've been working away, and my last deadline is the seventeenth. Should be a nice way to chill that evening. Pun most unintended.

It is shorter by 2 weeks. Last year's event was close to a month. Maybe they're managing player densities for events this year. But like the shortened halloween event felt somewhat pressuring, i might not be as into this one as well, especially with the holiday stuff i need to do.

Oh well.

I'm still not jaded about this event. Maybe because it was running when I first started playing, or maybe because I have only been playing for 3 years.

This'll be my fourth Winter Event, but I still very much look forward to it, and probably would even if there was nothing new added, which there has been each year.

I only wish it ran longer than 16 days.

I love this event. One of my fav things in all of heroes.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

I think they're still looking for a balance between too short and too long. They probably feel that a month is too long and players will get bored of the event. I think it's a no win situation because there will always be some players who want it to go on longer, and some who want it to just end already.

Three weekends is just about right for me. I would probably be burned out on it by then and start ignoring it. But any shorter and it doesn't seem worth the effort to have an event at all. So I think this is about perfect.

Yeah, that's part of why i think they're trying to manage player density.

Though for those wanting to end the event to end sooner, that can be a player-controlled task by stopping to participate.

Last 2 weeks of December has end of quarter/year rush on top of the holiday tasks. Last year was actually perfect for me. I was able to do RL responsibilities then the first 2 weeks of January i got into the winter event.

My RL stuff is not the devs concern, but still hoping they change their mind.

The Lady Winter mission seems to be intended to be a credible alternative repeatable mission with the same reward table; and what we've seen of it so far looks pretty good. Depending on exact build and/or small team, some people may find either Lady Winter or Snaptooth more problematic; but in the worst case you're no worse off than before, and for the majority of characters there will be some much-needed variety.

A very long time ago a few pals came over and we were all -extremely- drunk, one of them brought in this old baby doll head he found on the side of the street, we somehow got the crazy idea to stick that baby head on the end of a super soaker, so it looked like it spit... Which is what we have called that "baby" new year ever since we saw it.

I love the winter event and liked the month-long event last year. Every character I had got lots of candy canes for a change. Two weeks with 3 weekends sounds fine though even if I'll be out of town for two of those weekends.

I know last year the "end it already" crowd started a week after it started and got very loud by the time it was over. The devs really can't win on this one.
