This is amazing work altogether. Kudos!

Titan Sentinel uses a lot of Windows-specific system calls, so I'm not surprised that it may not work on... well, not-Windows. Even if GetDC() did the trick, I'd honestly be surprised if ReadProcessMemory() works.

This is CIT's fault. When character updates are sent, there are no fields for updating power pool selections. When CIT's upgrades are put in place, however, it will definitely be supported.

Character information is known by the client at all times. That's how it knows what to show when you open the Enhancements screen. Working backwards from there eventually got the information extracted by the tracker.

Is the "need to run as administrator" thing something that could ever conceivably be fixed? I spent a couple of hours figuring out how to get CoH and the CoH updater to run without admin privs. I'm trying to be good and do all gaming completely in the sandbox.

I love it!

Quick question though: Glycerine minimized as an icon in the taskbar, but Titan Sentinel just sits there as a minimized program. Any chance there's a way to get it to just minimize to an icon? I basically never closed Glycerine since I was always forgetting to open it.

Guy already said it's planned for version 1.0.

Expectations met and wildly exceeded, awesome job gang! In particular I'm in joy-shock of the demise of settitle binds.

Wow, okay, you can tell which is more important for me right at the moment....

I saw it mentioning badges and being part of Titan, and I stopped reading. I was too excited about the build export.

ONE CLICK for badges??

Wow!

Out of curiosity, what features were supposed to be part of the City Vault that aren't supported by Titan Sentinel?

It's been quite a while since City Vault was declared dead, and even longer since i read about the intended features.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

upon use of this program i have officially just uninstalled glycerine completely, and will be using this to upload badges to CIT (i still use herostats for other purposes and to upload to badgehunter lol)

this is just seriously epic

especially the export to mids, because i have several lvl 50 toons in which i was in process of slotting or slotted before i used mids and i didnt want to go through all the hassle to move them into mids, but this just makes it all so much better

We've already discussed this and figured out how to get the program to trigger the UAC instead of requiring users to do the right-click-run-as-administrator thing. Hopefully that will make it in by the next minor version release. It will definitely need to be run with elevated privileges, though, since it reads the client process to get your character information--something forbidden to apps without elevation, since it could be a security risk if it were a malicious app.

Only thing I can think of is the ability to look at other players builds.

Can you please either post a message on our support forum or PM me or GuyPerfect with the error, maybe even a screenshot, you're receiving? We're logging tech support issues like this to be investigated and hopefully quickly fixed.

I don't track badges, but I find this immensely useful for exporting builds if I intended to alter a minor detail. Good work guys.

Important Update

If the program's working for you, you won't need this, but a problem was uncovered last night that prevented it from operating for a few people. It kept detecting their character as being logged out, which in turn prevented their character from being detected.

Major props to Starlight for poking at his computer for me to help get this solved.

Since I'm releasing a critical update anyway, I took the time to fix the TO export issue, which turns out was a problem for DOs as well. Both have been tested and verified as working.

Version 0.9.1 is available at the download page: http://cit.cohtitan.com/sentinel/

I've been back and forth over whether to PM you with this or ask you in this thread. My question deals more with the Info Tracker system as a whole than with just the Sentinel, but the two are so closely tied together it seems appropriate to ask here.

Ok. I am on City Info Tracker and have Titan Sentinel updating my characters for me. Now what?

That sounds silly to ask. But really, what can I do with this? What do people normally do with this site? What utility do these tools provide?

Please understand I'm not trying to belittle what you've accomplished. I understand enough programming to know what a feat Titan Sentinel is. Basically I just want you to "sell" it to me. Right now I only see CIT as a way to show off my badges, but I get the feeling there's much more to it than that.

Again, I know how much work had to go into this. What I see is phenomenal, but I know that there's more utility to it that I must be missing.

i use CIT for kind of offline character management since CIT displays how far a toon is through lvling (for non 50s), and it displays how much inf each toon has

like if i needed money on a specific toon and i dont know how much my other toons have on them at the time, i can just log the CIT and it would show what my other tooons have inf wise so i can swap right to them instead of taking the 1-2 min it requires to change toons and slowly check toons 1 by 1

thats just an example of how i use it, but to each their own, im sure there are other ways that people use it as well

It's a niche, to be honest. These are some of the bigger reasons people use City Info Tracker:
  • They can keep a log of all their characters for themselves and others to see.
  • They can keep track of their badges and compare with other badge-collecting users (the site features "leaderboards" and the like).
  • They can display to the forums about their online status via dynamic singature and avatar images.
Titan Sentinel specifically also allows players to document their character builds in a quick and easy way, which turns out to be WAY more well-received than I'd expected.

Maybe it's not for you, and that's fine. I'm not too big into tracking myself, to be honest, but I do like seeing how many badges I have compared to other players (I like badges).

At the end of the day, what matters most is if you have fun. There's been a lot of focus on Paragon Wiki and Mids' Hero Designer, but tracking kinda took a back seat for a few years. This is a way to help the tracking scene have more fun.

Don't grow discouraged, though! This isn't all there is, not by a long shot. Titan Network has some other projects in the works that will hopefully strike gold in other niches when they're ready, just like this one has.

I think it really differs from person to person, and if you're looking for more then it may not be of any use to you.

I use it as a badge checklist for my badger, as I'm always losing track of what I've already got, what I still need to get, and the 'Low Hanging Fruit' is one of my favourite aspects: a list of badges that I haven't earned yet, with the 'easiest', most common ones at the top.

I also use it as a method of 'filing' my characters, but that's just a personal thing. Since a young age I've always had a thing for sorting things out and taking a note of information in tables, charts, and that kind of thing, so having it done for me is somewhat satisfying.
