However... instead... I shall say Mzalungollerfex!!

You're an odd lil' monkey.

Have you been de-evolved by secondary mutation?

This is not a garage sale, folks. The price will not change. You either like the contents enough to fork over the cash, or you don't. If you're quibbling over the price, you like the contents, so just buy it already. If you don't like the contents, why argue over the price? You're not buying it anyway.

It's amazing how something simple can be made into something so complicated.

The threshold for failure/success for a pack is probably a lot lower than the naysayers think, as well. I doubt they had to sell very many Party Packs to break even, and the same applies to this one.
It's called giving feedback. 'Tis what the thread is for.

And you have to draw the line somewhere. Would you buy if it was $12? it's only $2 more. Or 14? only 2 more than 12. or 16? You get my drift.

Compared by what was in the previous packs, $10 seems a lot for this one imo. $8 would've made more sense. If I didn't already see some great uses for some of the auras, I would've skipped it. And $2 really isn't enough to start a whole principles thing over. Well not more than I'm doing with this post anyway

Damn you devs, for making awesome stuff.

I thought the devs had more respect for their customers than that. No company stays in business if they slip little "jokes" into their customer's products. How would you like it if you bought a car that the paint washed off of the first time you washed it just because the manufacturer thought it would be funny?

Boycotting the Origins Pack.

There will always be outliers. The reality is the vast bulk of the playerbase wouldn't miss ten bucks if it fell out of their wallet at the bar (or the mall, for our younger players =P).
No, honey, I read your post just fine. You're very judgemental to people who say 10 bucks means a lot to them. I commented on many of the 'points' your post had within; most of them pretty laughable for my situation and possible the situations of others. You don't know us or what our 'stories' are so to speak.

Hell, even those people who say 10 bucks is a spit in the wind for, say that its overpriced. IMO, I think the pack should be 5 bucks. I also think, IMO, that we should be getting some of this stuff within issue updates or perhaps they could have put them in with GR since that cost 45 bucks on its own.

You don't have to like my opinion, but I am very free to give it. Think I'm full of it? Put me on ignore.

While I can afford the game, I just don't like the idea of so much stuff being seperate from the game. At the moment, I have no means to pay for anything electronically either, so I have to wait. I had to 'upgrade' my bank account a few days ago so this will change.

But to me, its inconvenient.

People are going to be like 'Oh cool I want that' ... 'no you can't have that unless you pay extra! ' ... 'oh ok, what about this?' ... 'No you have to buy something' ....

Sure some people say 'well its better than having to wait until you're a 12/24/48 month veteran, but how about just keeping more stuff standard.

That said, I don't mind some of the boosters I've seen in the past. Through sheer chance I managed to get the cyborg(though repurchasing MA edition) magic/ninja/valkyrie packs.

I think its just my sentiment towards the last 2 or 3 that we've had, they've just been 'meh' to me.
I just hope this isn't the way to the future unless CoH become free to play and rely off micro transactions.

Looks alright.

One question though, will there be combat versions of the auras? I figure there will be, but.. I had to ask anyways.

I'm tempted to buy two copies of this origin pack, just to annoy "Heroid" by undermining his boycott. If you don't want to be a Rikti Monkey in combat, don't click the button mid fight...

Anyways, onto positives, I really like the look of this pack, nothing my mains can really use, but some of my lesser played alts will love some of the new pieces on offer here!

Can we get that impervium texture for other body parts though? :P

Your confusion knows no bounds, sis.

I say "yeah some people are on the fringe and might have a problem", you say "I AM ON THE FRINGE AND HAVE A PROBLEM!111" like I hadn't already addressed the existence of a small minority

Yeah, there are a few people who, due to whatever odd circumstances, manage to play a video game with a recurring monthly cost while otherwise barely scraping by.

Hooray, it's nice to have you aboard!

You're not the audience for booster packs.
Ten bucks still isn't a meaningful sum to the vast majority of players.
Oh well!

No I'm not.
I'm saying YOU'RE NOT THE AUDIENCE FOR THIS PRODUCT.
And also that ten bucks DOESN'T mean a lot to the people who are the audience, i/e the bulk of the playerbase.

Am I castigating you for your situation? No. I place the same moral value on cash or the lack thereof IRL as I do in game, which is to say none at all.

The reality for the vast majority of people who play this game is that ten bucks is a minor expense quickly forgotten. And we're the audience for these boosters.

And I don't need to.
I can generalize, which I have- "a minority can't afford boosters easily- they are not the audience for the product".
that covers as much of your "story" as necessary for the sake of the argument. I don't need an encyclopedic knowledge of your history to make a broad point, I'm not your biographer,

You're very confused and defensive and have some issues with reading comprehension, but that doesn't qualify for my /ignore HOF. Only the true giants gain access to that exclusive club.

You can keep responding to me all you like, my dear little goat. But since I can't see your posts...kinda a bit moot, don't ya think?

Oh, and I like in your profile how you state you hate poor people. Probably one of the reasons you're so nasty to people who say 10 bucks is just too much for them.

The truth doesn't care if you run from it, and few things are more amusing than someone who puts you on ignore but just can't resist peeking at your posts.

I agree, $10 is nothing. Just over half an hour spent at the job.

I still think the pack's overpriced.

And that's a totally valid opinion.

I like two of the auras and would use them on a few of my toons. That's enough plus-side for me to buy this pack without any qualms about its value.

This is a better product than the Party Pack - more content, a more popular type of content, and, as far as I can tell, all new material. The lack of a booster power is no deal-breaker for me because the only really valuable one so far has been Ninja Run - and that one was so valuable that it should really have been offered to everyone to avoid imbalance.

So, GJ devs and marketing. Base items pack, please?

edit: OMG I think that I just agreed with Nethergoat111!!!

Hey Noble Savage, if you're still reading, will any of these auras trail physics particles? Thinking about the leaves aura in particular.

Also just realized, upon looking at them a second time, that the leaves being birch leaf shaped (as opposed to the maple leaves that already drop from trees in the game), they may be abstract enough to pass as flower petals if recolored.

If this is a combat aura, I think I just found a new favorite for one of my stalker.

Think about it... flower petals blowing through the air just before the strike. A nice bit of melodrama methinks!

I believe they all will include the combat option!

And... you need super slo-mo to go with that excellent idea!

Wait, wait... What about self destruct and mission teleporter? Those are both hugely useful!

What sets are you using?
(Obviously Dual Pistols is the secondary, so really i'm asking what primary and pools you're using.)

Dark/Pistols, with Flight (so far). Magic origin.

(actually, I should have said alpha. If you look at the first dual pistols footage, in Praetoria, there are sometimes doves. They took those out, though. )

I think the doves were just for the teaser video shown at one of the cons. I doubt if they built an actual effect in game for them. I'd bet it was added in post just for the video.

To be honest, the Origin pack seems interesting, but I am inclined to agree that it is hard to justify its cost compared to other booster packs which have been out far longer still have appeal. I think the origin pack needs more jazz than what is currently being offered, and be brought up to the level of other booster packs IMVHO.

Just my two cents.

there's not too much to really add accept maybe a temp power of some sort, it already comes with 15 auras/capes, even more if you want to count the combat ready versions of each aura.
