    Good news all..

...you do realize that they would have had to provide refunds regardless of the situation, yes?

Not to say to drop hope, just don't go thinking 'There's no way we can fail now!'

This to me feels like a rip-off. Like "Thanks for the money, enjoy your non-existent game! No refunds!"
I'll say it again, eight years is a phenomenally long time for an MMO to be around. To expect any game in this genre to be around forever is plain naivete.

What does realizing that MMOs aren't going to last forever have to do with self-respect?

...sounds a little pridefully condescending, too.

Then go find an MMO run by a small and family oriented business, you're not likely to find one.

As I've said in other posts, don't trust corporations, plain and simple.

NCSoft didn't handle this well, we can all agree on that

But I'm not gonna sit here and cover up my eyes to the truth, this is an old MMO, even by MMO standards, 8 years is a phenomenally long run for one. These kinds of games, more than any other, do not last forever. To even think otherwise is naivety.

Boycotting them after what they did to me and my community in Earth and Beyond DID hurt their sales, we know this now, but only because we weren't the only game community doing the boycotting--EA made many enemies of MANY customers of MANY shutdown studios within just a few short years, something NCSoft seems poised to do. I wish those studios under NCSoft well, but I cannot in good conscience support a business who treats its customers and studios (especially a darling of the industry like Paragon Studios) poorly. No industry veteran would tell you that NCSoft did right by them, or by us.
Well, good for you. EA is still a big corporation and you shouldn't trust them as far as you can throw them. Look at what's happened with Bioware after it's been acquired by EA.

Caveat emptor. Let the buyer beware, the phrase isn't in Latin because it's new.

Edit: Now, I'm not saying don't boycott. Go ahead, vote with your wallet, you should. But don't go around shouting it, how many times do you see entire groups of people going around saying they'll boycott this game or another? They never go through with it, not enough of them, anyway. So the threat is kinda empty nowadays.

As for this situation right here, people boycotting a company in a region that said company doesn't sell much of anything in anyway isn't the most effective tactic at hurting their bottom line. Not to say you should go out and buy their stuff, just don't go around touting how this is gonna do so much damage to their profits... when it kinda isn't so much.

They let the game go on eight years. Eight.

That's an enormously long time for an MMO.

Personally, I got my money's worth. I've played the game since CoV came out, and, yeah, I'm gonna miss it. But I'm not gonna dwell on the loss, and I'll move on.

I pre-ordered GW2. Fantastic game, I've already spent some money on gems, because it's a good game.

If you think NCSoft was hosting this game purely out of the goodness of their heart, or that any corporation does anything purely out of the goodness of their heart, something's wrong with you.

    Edit: And...

Trying an American boycott of a company that gets 95% of it's profits from Asia, even more now with the closure of CoH, isn't really gonna do anything.

You shouldn't specifically trust any company, to be honest. That doesn't mean you shouldn't buy anything from any company, though. Eight years is a very good and long run for an MMO.

And you know what? It still doesn't matter. They didn't have to pay to play the game. That's what Free to Play means.

Okay, now this is getting old. Blame who you want. The game's going down anyway, you can either whine and moan, or enjoy what time you have left, your choice.

    Whiny excuses don't fly.
"What!? People not spending money on a free video game!? Those monsters!"

I've been a VIP and spent alot on this game, but I don't begrudge anyone else who played for free. I'm glad they everyone who played got to enjoy the game while it lasted.

To implode in a blamefest right now is pretty much the worst thing you could do, instead of spending the last few months of the game remembering the fun times you had you just get pissed.

    TW/DA Build Help

So, I went over a few TW/DA builds and I think I managed to scrap together a workable one. I'll be using Energy Mastery until I can get incarnated out and solve my end problems, after which I'll probably find another one to switch to. But so far it's looking good, it's got S/L maxed without using Defensive Sweep, and it's got E/N at around 34%.

Any tips on how I can make it better, or which APP/PPP I should switch to?

I was kinda hoping for a more Trap Control/Munitions Assault from the power set bit.

I mean, Munitions Assault itself is low hanging fruit.

Take the Wolf Spider attack set, remove Wide Area Web Grenade and Venom Grenade, and add in Build Up/Aim and Sniper Rifle (since I think alot of them have snipes). Boom, assault set.

Trap Control woulda been more difficult, but I think the crowd coulda done it.
  22. ...did anyone read this at all?

I also made a build with Mace Mastery instead of Ice Mastery, to use until APP/PPPs get customization... so it'll be awhile.

Again, any suggestions, if anyone reads this, would be appreciated.

  23. Hi, I'm working on a Dominator build. I've got barely softcapped S/L defense as well as enough recharge for Permadom and Permahasten, but I think it could be done better... hopefully without so many purples.

    Any suggestions/tips?
