This doesn't look like a tin golem at all.

EDIT: Ah, I see in the letter above that he *is* in fact a robot.

Just not my aesthetic preference, those legs.

Good costumes are such a subjective thing. Ask anyone who holds or participates in a costume contest. What is cool, awesome and perfectly appropriate to one person completely sucks for another person. Everyone can't be satisfied.

Same I saw the feet and thought to myself "well he clearly aint seen the new GR items".

But it does look like a robot. Tin Mage describes himself as a robotic entity, after all.

Costumes are totally subjective, I agree. I'd just do something along these lines - this is quick and dirty work, I'd probably spend a lot more time on an actual contest like trying different shoulders, gloves, feet, etc. But it'd sure be fun! I've always thought that it's good practice to showcase new costumes/armor/etc. in various games on NPCs that players would get exposure to so that they would WANT those costume bits even more if they didn't already have them. A mini marketing approach via in game interactions. The below has GR, Magic and Wedding pack stuff (depending on which costume).

These are awesome, GQ! Sort of a riverboat gambler kind of look. Tin Mage would approve, I think.

I still like the robotic legs tho, it gives him that unmistakable classic robot look. I see that from across the room, and I know that's a robot.

That's the main reason for them, I think - because with the way he's dressed, he's not showing much "skin", so without the legs, it's hard to tell at first if is he's a robot or not.

I do believe that aura is the 'Storm' aura that for a while was only available to VEATs during the same time period that Firefly and Snow were unlocked on live.

Hopefully this doesn't mean that the Storm aura is now an NPC only effect...that would sucketh majorly but the Storm aura wasn't mentioned in the 'lookie new auras in issue 19' post so it seems likely.

Edit: Also he really does showcase how damn awful the monstrous robotic legs look...they just don't go well with the rest of the outfit.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks his appearance needs work. When I first saw it, I thought I was looking at a player created character, not a Dev created one.

It's not far off hitting the Random button on the costume creator IMHO.

I don't think that's the sotrm aura - it was way bigger and looked like a cloud - this one looks more like floating runes.

Yeah, even with that quick spin of the design I took I realized that. Not much real estate to convey robot. =/ To help get that point across I'd probably try a version of tucked in pants and use Clockwork feet. I don't think it'd look as gentlemanly as normal slacks but I think it'd look better than robot feet (all IMO of course!).

No. More. Co-op zones. Especially with GR, where every zone can technically be co-op if you decide to switch over. Villains need to do more villainous things, not be "dark heroes" that aid the blueside heroes any time there's a big crisis.

Also, yeah, not diggin' this guy's feet, either. But I've never liked those legs to begin with. They just don't mesh well with anything, to be honest.

Off topic but i feel like CoV are no longer the villains of the game. Even arachnos no longer poses any serious threat to paragon city anymore when you think about it. They need to really kick off another invasion into paragon! Last time there was an ounce of threat from arachnos was the faultline revamp i think [cimorora arc doesnt count].

With the coming storm, ouroboros, praetorian invasion and the CoP being now open, it does feel that arachnos/villain players are the sidekick villains of the game. The ones you have to beat to get to the main threat.

Yeah, I like his look too.

Concerning the Shadow Shard, I'd love to see Villains granted full access to it in some way. So far they only get instanced maps of it, and it's always the same area.

Without a revamp, would there be any technical point apart from having a zone to explore?

Well, if you missed out on that Technician Naylor story arc for whatever reason and still want to unlock the Rularuu weapons, access to the Shadow Shard would be a boon.

Robots are not my forte when it comes to designing costumes, but since I suggested it I thought it only right that I put my efforts out there too. My apologies if these images are too big.

Possibly not...

(for those not familiar with the terrifyingly unintelligible regional accents and dialects of England, treasure your ignorance. And please note, I'm just talking about England here, let alone Wales, Scotland and Norn Iron...)

IMPO devs, it's time to create a new co-op zone or re-purpose another existing zone into a co-op zone.
I think this stuff is here because it's Vangaurd related - Earth Defence from something not earth based.

Hmm, didn't a lot of people create Tin Mage inspired characters when we first learn about him? I know I did.

The Gentleman robot look isn't bad but I agree that I don't like the feet. Probably would be easier to pull of a robot look without the robot beard but I'm sure there are fans it.

Kind of interesting he wears a tophat too, go with that. My variant, Iron Mage, wears a red renegade hat and looks quite fetching in it as well but is suppose to have a similar style to the original. Mercury Mage is just completely different as he's pretty much just living metal (*one* of my characters had to take advantage of the new Ultra Mode reflections on the metallic skin option >_>).

For some reason, I think Tin Mage needs a magic scrying glowie monocle
