I wonder when we'll get some more I:19 - Alpha Strike news

I've been playing with builds for most of my characters, shocked at how awesome inherent Stamina will be. Then I remembered what is really supposed to be the point of Issue 19 - THE ALPHA SLOT.

Then I start salivating over a return of perma-Hasten, 800%+ regen, etc. and I'm wondering what those sneaky devs are up to.

Anybody else wondering what's up?

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

lol yeah. They could just put that on test right now. What could possibly go wrong?

I hear ya. I could spend the next month just redoing builds. Then they can release the rest of the issue. Pretty Please?

Well, there's no chance of getting it out before Halloween, which probably means they'll use that late November window we had with i8, i11, and i13. That probably means a Closed Beta/feature list before the end of the month, but I wouldn't expect anything new and concrete until early November at this point.

I imagine we'll be hearing something this Saturday.

i'd like to know as well. since we are having the double secret probation beta going on for i20 and it was implied that there would be a beta for i19, i dunno, might be some time. some degree of the pressure on coh and co was alleviated today(nudge nudge) but yeah, i'm kind of holding of doing some repecs myself till i19 hits, and am chomping at the proverbial bit.

im also going to pretend i remembered the weekend thing as well, you all buy that, right?

But once they do give you that, would you respect them in the morning?

As has been said, Paragon Studios have a presence at the New York Comic Con this weekend, and there will be the meet and greet and party afterwards. We're likely, hopefully, going to get:

Details about Issue 19
Details about the new booster pack (Two were mentioned for August in the Razer GR Launch Q&A, the first being the... urgh, Party Pack)
And maybe some future teasing.

Going Rogue beta testers had the opportunity to try out the alpha slot of the Incarnate system, but it was pulled from Going Rogue to be reworked. There are a few bits in the game that offer glimpses of what will probably be in the system, but the current design will have ten Incarnate levels that add various abilities and bonuses to characters as well as content designed to challenge characters with Incarnate abilities.

At least ten, with the potential for more if it works out well enough.

i'm always fuzzy about what can be said from beta pre nda drop. figured that was the most "to the point" answer.

Unless it's radically changed from what was in GR beta, the alpha slot didn't feel like any kind of alternative leveling system to me whatsoever.

It felt more like an expanded Inventions system.

Blazara Aura LVL 50 Fire/Psi Dom (with 125% recharge)
Flameboxer Aura LVL 50 SS/Fire Brute
Ice 'Em Aura LVL 50 Ice Tank
Darq Widow Fortune LVL 50 Fortunata (200% rech/Night Widow 192.5% rech)--thanks issue 19!

Alternate ADVANCEMENT system is a better term.

By unlocking the new slot and equipping it, your character advances much as it would by leveling, but by selecting what to equip into the slot, you have opportunities to personalize the character or choose where the advancement will be.

By tying it in to the crafting mechanics, they break the process of getting and slotting that power into more incremental steps. (getting the unlock, getting the loot drops, getting the RIGHT loot drop for what you want to slot, etc.) That way, one slot unlock won't be "done and forgotten" in the first week of a new issue's release.

Shouldn't that have been our first clue that the Death Star was actually fully operational? I mean, geez, it sounds like a trap!

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

What I didn't get from Beta was if there would be more powers or would our powers be somehow expanded in look and feel?

Yes.

Joking aside, the different slots do different things. Alpha was like a free global enhancement; some later slots added powers, some others added effects like -regen to existing power. No idea if they will launch in that state. What I saw on test for a short time was VERY overpowering.

Besides the Alpha, the first four slots shown were all things most players would like:

-An extreme AoE attack
-A team buff
-Utility/damage bonus for your attacks
-Pet summons

It seems to me the obvious bases have been covered. It makes me wonder what the last four (Omega Slot excluded) will be.
