Cutscenes

Anyone know when cutscenes were introduced?

Anyone know if they ever play to make them skipable?

The first cutscenes I ever remember being in the game were in the release of CoV, so I kind of doubt they're currently planning on making them skippable.

They can't make them skippable, at least not the one's made the way all our's are. Every cutscene are actualy NPCs running a script that triggers when they're spawned (by players getting close enough or triggering an event). Since skipping them would mean people could move around and attack those NPCs, you'd be able to fight them when they can't fight back.

First one was Kalinda's snake mission with the cutscene.

Also : Issue arises if some but not all want to skip the Cutscene.

I thought the first was the tutorial with Jenkins and the longbow.

I just wish they'd disable chat binds. I find it to be childish and immature when people spam them during a cutscene.
For me it depends on the situation. When people hammer down F7 or something for no reason.. I agree with you... but the occasional "Can I be on camera too?" or "is this my good side" just breaks the monotony of the same old cutscene. Some people even have very clever binds that work with particular scenes. lol

Hi Guys,

guess I fall in the middle about chat over cutscenes.

On the first run of the content all I want is to enjoy the new stuff and see what the guy has to say (Just ran my Hero through the Barracuda SF for the first time - cracking cutscenes!). No intrusive comments from the players thank you.

But also after a zillion runs of for example, the ITF, anything to help lift the familiarity is okay.

The problem is remembering that my old familiar run is very possibly another teammates first run so see my early comment!

Cheers

The only cut scenes I really dislike are in the STF. The writing is ok, but their timing sucks. I used to run MoSTFs on an ill/sonic controller and EVERYTIME I went to buff *cutscene*. I wanted to kill Aeon on principle.

I agree the mindless bind hitting gets a bit wearing. It did spoil my first ever ITF a bit because almost al of the rest of the team was hitting them.

Like the person who had the "Good for you." bind for Rommi's speech "I AM NICTUS"? I agree.. the more clever ones break the monotony.

For some reason I totally forgot about that.

Regardless, both were in at launch.

Speaking of Romulus, I like how his cutscene was upgraded much later on to have a different angle so we could see the Nictus infusing itself into Rommy.

My personal favorite cutscene has to be Frostfire though:

Frostfire: "I was once like you, Hero."
Frostfire: "I too thought the world was simple."

Lead Brick: "Yeah... simple!"

Frostfire: "Shut up, you moron." *FREEZE RAY*

Lead Brick: *block of ice'd*

That taught me never to drink liquids while watching a cutscene for the first time.

Guild Wars solved that problem by not skipping the cutscene until all members of the party press the 'skip' button.

But if we could skip cutscenes, I wouldn't have my 'go get something to drink' break in the middle of the STF.
