  1. My most recent memory is the Really Hard Way badge - I was in the group on Union which successfully completed it the first time on live, and quite possibly the first group throughout all the servers (as no other group had mentioned completing it yet). That was really nail-biting, fighting Emperor Cole at full power. :3

    D:

Took a bit of a break only to come back when the worse news to hit City of Heroes comes. D:

Still, at least it's not shutting down immediately, so we can at least say our goodbyes to our superhero selves (all 50+ alts of them!).

    Even so, it's been a hell of a ride, hasn't it? :3

So yeah, Joe Average Rikti Drone could do it, and Henchmen can do it, so I'm going to write this down as a 100% certainty that Lore pets can do it even without testing it... so long as you're a Mastermind.
You learn something new every day
  4. Totally disappointed that pets, which already do an awkward job of attempting to survive in Incarnate content, don't benefit from Ultimate.

You mentioned Masterminds can give an Ultimate to a henchmen, but Lore pets couldn't be given them. What if the player is a Mastermind, who can pass normal inspirations to anything which appears in their pet list?

Oh, if any devs are reading, you should rework Ultimates so if given to a henchmen by a Mastermind, it works as a 40ft unique PBAoE buff, so it can affect all henchmen pets at the same time.

This is true for me as well. Barring the possible exception of Phantasy Star Online (seriously, it had a word select so you could communicate with people across the globe even if you can't speak their language and vice versa), City of Heroes basically has the best ingame community player base out of all online games I've played so far. Out-of-game is pretty much the same. You don't get rampant trolling or people talking smack to each other on the official forums either. It's like everyone knows how to moderate themselves, unlike a certain game's forum (*cough D3 cough*) where even the forum considers themselves to be one of the most unfriendly player bases in existence... and the game hasn't even been out that long...

I'm sure if people ask on their relevant server forums for channels to join, they'll find a giant number of people to play with, even if they don't talk to them much. :3

    Soloing a GM

My Fire/Shield Scrapper soloed a Winter Lord during the event (found one outside in Kings Row). I used Cimeroran Lore Pets at the same time though, haha. Took me about 17 minutes (had to wait for Lore to recharge while preventing GM from regen HP). XD

I would summarise tactics for this one as:

-As much -res as you can get
-As much +dmg as you can get (and to a lesser extent recharge buffs too)
    -Not too much smash/lethal dmg
    -4 or 5 Ultimates
    -Don't die
-And most importantly, a league leader who know what they are doing and a league that can follow the plan
Don't forget everyone has to MOVE when the air crackles. Even the main Tanker (if there is one) has to move (preferably on ground so Tyrant doesn't take to the air).

Also, if gunning for the RHW, Lore Pets will help due to their damage when Tyrant's regen starts boosting at low HP - in many ways, they can output as much or more DPS than player characters can.

I find it's always better to play with friends rather than random strangers so mistakes are more forgivable, but I realize it's not always possible.

I am a little curious, in any failed stuff I've done, I've never had people ripping out the person who failed. People just hold it on, go "oh well", and go on to complete it if it was a Mo run, or reform the league or team for another go if there's enough time. But then, this is when people vaguely know each other due to being in the same channels (of almost full channels, it's unlikely you will know EVERYONE well). Is the things you mention when the team consists of absolute strangers?
  9. Grats from Union server. Looks like we're not the only ones who can complete it the Really Hard Way anymore.

What a stupid bug, to cap the lvl shift at 16 and have pets count. Shame on you devs!!
The devs plan to patch that in the future into a mapwide zone power with 255 targets since sphere powers apparently have 16 target cap, even if this one is 5000ft. Just... dunno when they plan to do it, haha. Buy some Ultimate inspirations with Astral merits!

I think the best way is to make the platform Ms. Liberty stand on into a rectangle, and have BaBs stand next to her on it. That way, you have two heroes introducing new players to the game, and you get to pick whichever one you want to level up at. Liberty will also still be at the prime location for any mission stuff where you need to speak to her as well.

Good catch, I've seen his Olympian Guards just dying for no reason while fighting, but didn't know what was causing it and assumed it was maybe a timer thing. :3

That's exactly my view too. Also, ID gives good resistance to his "punching the ground" attack which can kill squishies pretty quickly.
His 'Punching the ground' attack is Hammer of Justice, which you may recognize from Statesman's attack, only it has longer range and he can use it in midair. :3

The general tactic we seem to have worked out for the last phase is:

    1. After nuke hits, everyone is gathered together. Stay together so the people with heals or rebirths can heal you. Buffs may or may not happen at this point, if they don't, they'll be activated around Tyrant
    2. Regardless of what AT you are, go into melee range against Tyrant (if he's not making the air crackle). This is so buffs and heals can reach you easily.
    3. Every so often, a group of Olympian Guards will be spawned to attack the league. Unlike normal EB Olympian Guards, these are boss-class, but they can fly and still pack a hefty punch. Since everyone is together next to Tyrant, AoEs and PBAoEs are usually enough to take them out before they start hurting the league too much.
    4. Tyrant's Beam Sweep attack is autohit, but is a cone in front of him. Since everyone is together, people can usually survive it and get healed and continue attacking.
    5. Tyrant's Hammer of Justice is a 60ft PBAoE which can be used in midair and deals quite a bit of damage. There's no message for it, so don't bother attempting to fly out of range if everyone is fighting him in melee range. Buffs and heals will hopefully keep you alive, and if you fall, hopefully someone has a resurrection power to use.
    5. As soon as Tyrant makes the air crackle (big message) every 35 seconds, everyone without exception must move. Not only is this to avoid the initial PBAoE from Tyrant's Zeus' Lightning Bolt, but also to spread out the Flow Lightning which will spawn at player locations away from Tyrant. Since people should be moving, at most, they'll take around 1-2 ticks of damage and survive it. If everything went as planned, no Flow Lightning should be around Tyrant, and so everyone immediately goes back to smack him. This is also a good time to save range judgement and normal range attacks for attacking Tyrant at range when nobody should be in melee. Flying is fine here as long as you flew away from him (and other players). Pets appear to be immune to Flow Lightning, but not to the initial PBAoE, but leave them to attack anyway.
    6. Go back to step 2. :3

The bit about Tyrant having extra regeneration if people go hospital, we're not too sure of that and testing it. But regardless, if you go hospital, you'll have to help the doctor break the portal open which takes time, and means you do 0 DPS against Tyrant. So if you fall, try to wait a little if your league has Barriers with rez or rez powers that you know of.

As mentioned, Ultimate inspirations will help a bit due to Tyrant's level shifts. You can buy them from Ouroboros from the astral vendor for 2 astrals. Lore pets will also help when Tyrant hits 30% health, make sure you're under the influence of an ultimate inspiration before using Lore.

    Regarding incarnate powers:
Destiny: We had a mix of Barrier, Rebirth and Ageless which seems to work well.
Interface: Since Reactive is still the most common one, we had people switching to Degenerative (not sure if that's really effective or not) and some such as Diamagnetic to help against his regen.
Lore: A lot of people were busting out Longbow pets for the Cataphract boss with it's insane -regen power, but don't try to make one before the league starts if it won't give you a level shift, which is more important. :3 Cimerorans obviously deal the best damage, but they might find it hard to hit Tyrant due to the number of people in melee range. People were also bringing out Warworks, Robotic Drones and other pets which can do -regen, so that's something to consider.
Hybrid: I don't know enough about this yet, I don't think many people on the league really took this into account, haha. The Support and Assault ones should probably be the best ones to use at the 30% health mark.

Be that as it may, it doesn't really excuse your league leader to take it out on our league leader since we specifically waited until your league set off before we started looking for people to come on ours.

But let's not bring this up in a congratulatory thread because I believe Union might be the first to have got this badge... unless another server got it earlier?
  15. Don't mind the sour grapes, kis. Your lovely inmates know what happened and stand by you as always. :3

Stupid shiny badge, it's so bright...

Look at the player titles. I didn't switch mine in time, but we all got it. Ultimate inspiration and lore pets along with lots of debuff help a lot.
  17. Isn't her pet somewhat similar to the Awakened Seers powers in First Ward?
  18. Ideon

    I won't forget!

How much of the old content is Statesman removed from? Is he even removed from Maria's original arc, A Hero's Hero? Because that would be just weird. Removing him from A Hero's Epic is fine since that's her current arc, but her old arc is way before the death of States.
  19. Crey:
    Boss: Scorpinoid Deathstalker
    Lieutenant: Crey Tank
    Buff/Heal: Medic Scientist

    Paragon Protectors:
    Boss: Paragon Protector Elite
    Lieutenant: Paragon Protector (Blaster)
    Buff/Heal: Paragon Protector (Defender)

    :3
  20. One answer is that a lot of people will refuse to check their temporary powers to drag out specific powers. Either they didn't see the message showing they got a temp, they didn't have any spaces open in their main three power trays, or they just can't be bothered to do it.

I was once in a trial where we only had three people who had acids despite us clearing out the labs. Why was this? Because people somehow forgot how to check their temporary powers despite being level 50s. So because of this, the enemies started swarming us and we almost wiped.

Nowadays, I play in leagues where for the most part, I know almost everyone on it, so we don't get those kind of problems anymore, but in PuGs, passing them all to one person is a viable tactic I can see happening to prevent these kind of problems.

I did some quick attacks on the test server, and got the feeling that the ATO proc seemed to fire more often in Energy Torrent (a cone) than in Explosive Blast (a TAoE). Of course there's the possibility that I just had strange luck with the dice, so I'd like to know your opinion:

Do you think there's a significant reason to slot the ATO set into a cone rather than into an TAoE power, or does it come down to personal preference?

I want to use my freespec on one of my blasters before we get the new one tomorrow, so I need to decide whether to put the Blaster's Wrath set into a cone attack or into a TAoE attack. (I can't put it into a single-target attack because those slots are needed for other set bonuses.)

(Two days ago I posted this question in an older thread in which the PPM procs were discussed, but received no responses at all. I assume that my message wasn't read because people assumed it was just an answer to that thread. I apologize for the double posting.)

Thank you for your thoughts on this,

    10joy
From what clues the devs gave us, the proc takes into account the maximum number of targets the cone or AoE can hit. Cones generally have a smaller max target than AoEs.
  22. It might be based on something like how close to death you are before it attempts to heal you.

... or, the usual pet AI bugs have also done something to the radial lore pets. :3
  23. Bear in mind Darkness Mastery powers can't be changed from their default 'dark' colours, just like all epic and patron powers. So don't pick Darkness Mastery and then complain you can't turn them green, haha.

You might want to make a new thread for it rather than occupy the Scrapper's Rikti Pylon thread, haha.

Will be looking forward to the results, at any rate. I'm guessing Cimerorans will still remain first, but will Warworks and Phantoms retain second and third place?

    Missable Powers

A lot of people skip godmode powers when they start softcapping, and certain ones which drop health at the end due to thinking it's too big of a risk to use, such as Electric Armor or Invulnerability.

A lot of Scrappers and Brutes will only pick one of the first two primary powers once they can establish a decent attack chain.
