The Mag Trial and The Hospital

So i've been running the Maggie trial now on a few servers and a few things always seem to pop up in every league that i would just like to address.

GOING TO THE HOSPITAL DOESNT INCREASE HIS REGEN!

People are only assuming this because of his high regen that without a constant stream of damage being done to him, that it looks like his health is just shooting right back up.
Have been on one too many trials now where i see players [non leaders who are speaking over the leader] slowing down the progress of a trial by saying that people shouldnt go to the hospital because of the regen.

The ONLY time a league should avoid the hospital is if you have a few players who can rez [including destiny rez] so you are keeping up the DPS on a constant basis.

*sigh*

Rant over! Back to whatever you was doing!

I concur with this post. I have spent quite a few hours this past weekend researching Tyrant's powers. His regen is a function of his HP only. When his HP are below 50%, his regen rate goes up linearly the closer he gets to zero HP.

The "Favor" bar is just a graphical representation of this effect.

Edit: Damz, that avatar is bizarrely hypnotic.

I think part of the problem lies in the fact that the Wiki said this just a few days ago:

"Once Tyrant is below 50% health, a bar appears showing his "Favor of the Well", a number which directly affects his regeneration. If defeated players retreat to the hospital when Tyrant is below 50% health, it increases his Favor, granting him a regeneration buff."

It was recently changed to this:

"Once Tyrant is below 50% health, a bar appears showing his "Favor of the Well", a number which directly affects his regeneration. Favor of the Well will increase by two points for every % of his MaxHP that Tyrant drops below 50. Similarly, Favor of the Well decreases by two points for every %MaxHP that Tyrant regenerates."

And looks like it was just changed again to mention something about Olympian Guards. At this point I believe most of it is speculation and theory.

The article in Massively seems to suggest he gets some sort of buff from people going to the "astral limbo". However, I think it's too soon to say conclusively what effect this has.

People are confusing lore with mechanics.

The lore says that people dying are empowering him.

The way that is handled mechanically is a barrier in the "hospital" or "limbo" that keeps you from attacking him AND his Favor of the Well power which increases his regen the lower his HP gets.

So the more people die, the less people hit him. The less people hit him, the more time his regen has to fill up his HP bar.

My suggestion on everything EXCEPT the MoM trial is, if you die, wait a few seconds for a rez and/or vengeance then if you can safely self-rez do so. Otherwise go to the hospital and get back ASAP.

What I don't care for is this:

Why isn't there a Combat Medic in the DreamSpace hospital that sells inspirations like all of the other iTrials?

Just annoying

Anti-zerging. I imagine the devs don't want people going to the hospital, loading up on reds to cap damage and not caring whether they live or die.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

He only uses that on his own Olympians. It doesn't affect players at all. And it doesn't heal him, despite both the icon and the short help info it displays.

I'ld say its mostly to do with the fact that its the one trial where constant damage is needed, having players be away from the battle to stock up on inspirations would take away far too much valuable time imo.

Good catch, I've seen his Olympian Guards just dying for no reason while fighting, but didn't know what was causing it and assumed it was maybe a timer thing. :3

Official word on some things players have noted and some they've speculated on.

1.) Your deaths have no effect on Tyrant at all. He has no mechanics that trigger on player death

2.) There is currently a bug where only 16 players/pets will receive the level shift from destroying Light of the Well. We’ll be fixing this in an upcoming patch as quickly as possible – I checked the fix in as soon as the issue was discovered.

3.) Tyrant does not have a self heal. He does have a self-buff power which consumes his Olympian Guards, killing them, and providing him with bonus ToHit and Smashing Damage for each guard consumed in this way. This has a visual effect which looks a bit like a heal, but is meant instead to connote “Powering up off dark energy”.

4.) There is no direct negative effect to “Being in the hospital”. I have seen several people postulate that Tyrant heals or grows in power when people are in the hospital, but the only effect hosping has on him is that you’re dead and not DPSing, and therefore his regeneration is healing him better.

I hope this information helps you, and good luck in your endeavours to bring Tyrant down!
