I still have some lag issues and a lot longer mission load times than before I downloaded GR, but if you are going to tell me to upgrade my comp, my comp has been upgraded 3 or 4 times since I bought my original CoH, and I'm no longer in a financial situation to casually upgrade it.
I can empathize with your financial situation, however because one either chooses not to or is unable to experience content doesn't make the content not so.

With this character I accidentally picked to not go into the tutorial, because this is my norm when I play a hero character. This was my second character because I'd built an Elc Dom which I deleted right after the rescue mission, because the sound of that set was getting on my nerves. This meant that I'd already been through the tutorial, so I decided to go with it.

In the rescue the cops mission I found all three Lt's and the Sergeant before I reached the middle of the mission map. As a potential resistance I felt it was bad to kill resistance fighters that I did not need to. In the last mission as a potential but not yet resistance fighter I felt it was stupid to kill cops I did not need to. Note, this is a RPMMOG and it's just as valid for me to RP my characters as it is for you to not do so. I completed this mission at lvl 3, almost lvl 4, but I did not know that this was my last mission from this contact.
And actions have consequences, this was yours. You chose to RP a certain way, nothing wrong with that at all. However, because of that choice you are unable to continue along the contact chain. Could there be more content? Should there be? Yes, always, more content is a good thing. Is the current level of content a flaw or a problem? I don't think it is.

I was unaware a new player could purchase CoH and CoV separately still, so I went to the NCsoft Store and you sure can. But why in a hells would a new player do so, when for the same price you get two worlds to play in (Architect or GvE ), and some nifty extras. As for a new world, to a new player who purchases the Architect or GvE for 20 bucks less than GR, CoH and CoV are new worlds.
I feel you've missed my point, let me clarify. You brought up that the lack of new ATs was a disappointment to you. I gave that a remedy to this is that praetoria gives unrestricted access to all legacy ATs. Perhaps the failing to convey this was mine.

    Quote:
Something else, the things I listed that are missing from GR I feel are good things, that a new player should be able to enjoy from 1 to 20. I think it was wrong to not include them in GR, and in my opinion unprofessional not to include them.
I disagree that it was 'wrong' and I certainly disagree that it was unprofessional.

    Quote:
Note, "I feel", "I think", "my opinion", as well as "I'm unimpressed", are emotional responses that I own. The things I listed are facts of GR, how I interpret them are emotional though. ViralShard you spent a lot of time telling me why my emotional responses to GR are not valid, because they do not jive with yours, but you did not list any facts about GR that I had not already listed. Your emotional responses to GR are not valid to me in this context, because you did not shell out 30 bucks for my GR, I did.
    Emphasis mine.
A couple of your 'facts' actually aren't.

    "Mostly just a repainted world."
This is wrong. Praetoria features 4 new zones, 6 if you count the 3 instances of the underground as one, which I do. These zones were built from the ground up heavily influenced by the inclusion of Ultra Mode. Much development time went into designing and building a world we have never seen before. They were not revamps of exsisting zones or reskins. Implementing the reflection tech into the sky scrappers of Steel Canyon, that would be a repainted world. The Hollows or Fautline revamp, I present those as examples of a repainted world. The only way I could see Praetoria as a repainted world is in the most literal sense possible: It's part of the game and it looks different too.

    "No novel power sets."
    nov·el
    /ˈnɒvəl/ [nov-uhl]
    –adjective
of a new kind; different from anything seen or known before: a novel idea.

Those four powersets are new they each introduce a new mechanic of some sort we didn't have access to. I've never seen or known them before so I will claim that they are novel.

"The small number of missions that allow you to complete all of the contacts missions and not being at level to pass on to next contact (Completed all of the starter missions at level 3.)."
I feel this is subjective as my personal experience was that the contacts were leveled perfectly

I have more that I see as either wrong or subjective opinions but I just wanted to get the point across that not all of what you said was fact.

Now, your emotional responses are you own, I do not have the prerogative nor ability to tell someone how they should feel. You are disappointed or unimpressed and that it is fine; clearly we disagree and I doubt I can change that feeling. However, I do take issue with what you proclaim as fact as most are subjective and fed by anecdotale observation and others are mistaken. Some of your points I even concede to and agree with but I feel you are unfairly misrepresenting the content of the expansion.

Yes, it's an entirely new starter experince not just a revamp of current lowbie content, (which I would also love to see) but a new world we can explore.

    Quote:
    Mostly just a repainted world.
I'm confused by this. What to you would qualify as a new world then? By that reasoning I could argue that any new zone at all is just a repaint of what we already have. So what needs to be done to make it "new" then? We just got beautifully crafted new zones that made full use of and were designed with Ultra Mode in mind, a new mechanic just recently released. This gives an updated feel to CoXs graphics, I feel that qualifies as a new world.

    Quote:
    No new AT's.
A new player starting a hero has access to 5 ATs. A new player starting a villain has access to 5 ATs. A new player starting a praetorian has access to all 10 ATs, the freedom to experience what both sides have to offer in an entirely new world.

    Quote:
    No novel power sets.
Again, confused. What to you would qualify as a novel powerset then? By novel I'm going to assume you mean something of a new kind never seen before. In that case we got 4 new powersets, yes two were released early for pre-purchase but they were all part of GR.

One of those was Dual Pistols which introduced beautiful animatons a new mechanic to the player, the ability to swap damage type and secondary effects of all powers; I'd call that new and never seen before.

Another Demon Summoning, introduced a new type of MM henchman where each pet has its own unique theme and attacks. Along with this the attacks featured entirely new and very well done animations. I'd say that's novel.

The third, Kinetic Melee gave every attack the ability to reduce a target's damage and Power Siphon giving the ability to drain enemy damage and give it to yourself. Something else I'd say is new to players.

Electric control I'd say was the least novel of them all but still introduced a large -END component to a control set.

These four new powersets are spread out across all ATs. Meaning every single AT aside form epics got a new powerset to play with.

    Quote:
    No mission adjustment.
I'll concede to this one, that is a bit annoying.

    Quote:
    No access to the AE.
And I'm thankful, I much prefer to enjoy my new experience without being bombarded with farm and PL requests.

    Quote:
    No access to SG/VGs.

    No Paper/Radio missions.

No Mayhem missions (Thus no temp travel powers.).
I will admit an ability to create SGs would be nice. However, there is no need for Paper/Radio and by extension Mayhem/Safeguard missions. Those serve to introduce you to new conatacts through your broker something that is not needed as Scott and Marchand server that role.

    Quote:
Clutsy contact mechanics, which includes having to double pop them
Again I concede that this is a bit confusing at first

    Quote:
The small number of missions that allow you to complete all of the contacts missions and not being at level to pass on to next contact (Completed all of the starter missions at level 3.).
At the risk of sounding disingenuous I find this an immpressive feat as by completeing missions by defeating anything in my path and not making an effort to completely clear a map, I found my self at level 4 by the end of mission two.

    Quote:
Being level restricted from new contacts with no obvious recourse but to grind out xp.
The obvious recourse includes completing missions for the other side in effort to switch or just to do undercover work; the choice is yours.

    Quote:
No means to pass back and forth between the GR world and the CoH and CoV worlds, thus post 20 blue/red not able exempt down to experience the GR world. This is actually a big deal, it means that GR is just a fancy 1-20 tutorial.
If by "fancy 1-20 tutorial" you mean an entire new lowbie experience then yes. And also, yes no primals may enter nor praetorians who have left, this is by design. The devs have stated their reasoing and I can see and agree with their views of not wanting to ruin immersion or interrupt the experience with level 50 primals. They also stated their intent to add onto praetoria and include access to primals at a later date, some speculation pointing to as early as Issue 19 for this happening.

    Quote:
I had already been playing CoH so CoV was not a standalone game, but an expansion for me (Despite how it was marketed.), and I would bet this was so for a high percentage of those who purchased CoV, when it was released.
Your experince with a previous title does not change what CoV was. It was a stand alone that included interaction with CoH and had the option of paying only one subscription fee for two games. Eventually the games were combined giving full access to those only owning one side.

    Quote:
For my bucks I got a 1-50 world that was very graphically different than the hero world
Praetoria is very literally graphically different.

    Quote:
got one AT that was totally unlike any hero AT (MM). I got two AT's that you thought were similar to what appeared to be their closest counter part until you started to play them (Dom, Stalker). All of the ATs had an inherent that was an intrical part of their AT, and changed the flavor of the AT's in comparison to their counter part. I got multiple new power sets, not just for the MM, Dom, and Stalker, but for the Corrupter as well (Can't remember if there were new sets created for Brute, or just a mix of Tank and Scrapper sets. ).
And now you can experince ALL legacy ATs in one new world along with multiple new powersets that every AT gets to use.

    Quote:
Paper and Mayhem missions were introduced with CoV, including temp travel powers
No need as of yet for that mechanic in praetoria and travel powers are not as neccessary as missions have been more streamlined to take place in the same area.

    Quote:
got a world that played very differently than it's counterpart, so there was some major learning curve going on.
Praetoria plays very different from either, there you have missions that offer morality choice and a chance to choose your own path, you can even kill off contacts removing them from you game.

    Quote:
What have I gotten from GR. I've gotten another 1-20 world that’s very restricted, not really novel, and actually feels like it has stepped back a few CoHv years. I got a few more costume parts. I got side switching at the 20+ game with the mechanics and missions that go along with that. I got 4 new power sets, none of them requiring much of a learning curve (Not saying I don’t like some of them, just that they are not novel.). Global email and joined markets might be because of GR, but they are not purchased with GR. Neither is CoP.
There's that word again 'novel' I'm not sure what you think novel content is. And stepped back from Heroes or Villians? The writing and missions are far superior than anything we've had before, not having to run around all the way across a zone or even across multiple zones is a major step forward to the annoyance of previous content. And no powerset requires any significant learning curce to grasp, certainly some of the first powersets were less complecated to, say, kinetic melee.

    Quote:
So how about you proponents of GR list what I might have missed that GR gives me for my 30 bucks, because I'm not seeing it. It had better be a big list to match what CoV gave me for my 35 bucks.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Going_Rogue - Here that includes a feature list

Well to be fair I've only seen four movies this year and this one makes the top. I'm not the most demanding movie goer in the world just a rather simple fellow and this was a fun, humorous, and overall awesome experience so that's good enough for me.
  6. In any case, I personally enjoyed scott pilgrim immensely. I found the quirky humor very welcome and I thought the casting was perfect.

Yes I know Cera is the epitome of everything that's wrong in the world....

and yes, I know I suck for not hating him....

and yes, Im sure it's wonderful to be you....

but honestly I felt he and the rest of the cast did a perfect job and I can't see anyone else fitting that role now. The begining was wonderful and filled with humor and many other 'gamer' type jokes that *I* found funny and then it all gets amped up to 11 with the over the top fighting in the second half. Now I haven't read the comic so perhaps I'm just an ignorant commoner and am missing some large glaring flaw but ya know what? I don't care, this was by far my pick for greatest movie of the year.
  7. Pre-order or Pre-purchase? There is a difference but I'm going to assume you're talking about the latter. In that case no, to my knowledge buying the $6.99 Item pack will not come with the free month only the Alpha and Omega costumes and the stances. As to why, the reason is because by pre-purchasing you got the base GR game for cheaper as well as early access to both the demon summoning and dual pistol power sets. That was the trade off and yes all of this was made very clear when the offer was first created.

Now, if you went to a store and pre-ordered the complete collection, which is the only physical box that was offered, then you should already have 30 days free along with everything in $6.99 pack being offered.

This post has some of the artwork but two of those appear to be negatives. Apparently the artwork is done but the inspirations use current Tier 3 art as placeholders.
  9. If your looking for TFs and teaming in general you might want to consider the higher population servers, in which case you'd be looking for Virtue and Freedom. Although finding teams to do task forces on any server isn't very difficult, try finding and joining your servers global chat channels.

Sounds about right, I couldn't find much else about them aside from some artwork.
  11. Are they actually in the game yet? I was under the impression that they could be found in the games files but weren't currently released.
  12. You can always apply a credit card and then just cancel it afterwards, you would still keep the free month
  13. Ya know, I spend all my time lurking on these boards never really posting mostly just observing and taking in the news. But now, I find I need to contribute a bit to the topic at hand. No, not Going Rogue and its morally grey content or thought provoking material, but rather a poster. Golden Girl, I find her(his? probably her) ways strange and cruel and I believe I finally figured her(him?) out.

See, I have a theory here, a theory that reads that the obtuse facade that Golden Girl puts up is just that; a facade, an illusion that beguiles her true face. This illusion serves to ensure her victory in discussions such as this by blindsiding everyone else with nonsensical single sentences. Pathetic one liners and nauseating faces that serve to both pad her post count and infuriate the opposition.

It's not that she can't form a concise argument, no I believe she is perfectly capable of that; rather it's that she's afraid to. Her fragile and precious ego must not be broken and if somehow anyone were to prove her 'wrong' or have the audacity to express and opinion different than her own then that carfeully built world filled with self rightousness and white knight justice would be broken.

So, what to do to prove how Golden Girl is right and you're wrong? Simple: Drop any semblence of civilized discussion, resort to childish slurs and namecalling along the likes of 'facist' and 'stormtrooper,' throw in some of those lovely winky oneliners that dodge the question and repeat what's already been annoyingly established, and to top it all off do it with this cheery innocent childlike tone.

The result? Victory, at least to her. Those that recognize the kraken attacking their beloved ship will likely abandon it in a desperate attempt to swim to safety. The rest are stubborn, they will continue to fight and attack it with their scabbards and paddles, engaging in a sad back and forth seemingly endless tirade of shame and nonsense that spirals into a whirlpool, a dark cold pit where ambitions and dreams go to die.

Of course they manage to escape this dark abyss under the realization that there is no reasoning with the mighty Golden Kraken and desparetly flee for their lives with thier sanity (hopefully) entact. Untill all that remains is the Golden Kraken alone and unoppsoed and that obviously translates to victory.

So here we are; everyone has been chased away, the world is safe from the evils of opinions not her own, and the moral fiber of the world is safe and sound and colored in Gold. Of course I have no idea how she justifies her actions and the notions that she's right and we're wrong and how we should all just shut up and get behind her. Insane Troll Logic probably
  14. Keep in mind, you only have access to the Tiki Room if you have the Good Versus Evil edition of the game or the GvE item pack.
  15. It seems that the system, at times, 'forgets' you have the epic's unlocked. Try logging into that level 36 Villain and logging back out, that should remind it and you should have access to the epics
