Why no free month for pre-orders?
"My inner mind has become a reality-cracking overgod. He torments me! Help!"
Basically, your choice was to get access to Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning early *OR* get the free month.

Pre-order or Pre-purchase? There is a difference but I'm going to assume you're talking about the latter. In that case no, to my knowledge buying the $6.99 Item pack will not come with the free month only the Alpha and Omega costumes and the stances. As to why, the reason is because by pre-purchasing you got the base GR game for cheaper as well as early access to both the demon summoning and dual pistol power sets. That was the trade off and yes all of this was made very clear when the offer was first created.
Now, if you went to a store and pre-ordered the complete collection, which is the only physical box that was offered, then you should already have 30 days free along with everything in $6.99 pack being offered.
Why are pre-ordered GR fans not able to get the free month? If you purchase the expanded complete GR edition at $6.99 do you get it then, considering it's on par with the regular $39.($35 preorder then $7 expansion) which comes with a free month?

You got Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning early. You got that instead of the free month.
The people that weren't playing with Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning 6 months ago? They go the free month when they bought the Complete Collection.
Seems pretty fair to me, you got some stuff earlier than other people, so you missed out on the free month. Can't have em both.

Makes sense, thanks for all the info guys
Also, every copy of CoH before came with a free month, right? So this... is essentially similar there. XD;

And for future reference, if you want to get cheap or even net negative cost game time, look into getting some of the other older boxed editions and applying their codes to your account. For example, it is not unheard of to get the GvE edition for like $10 or so (includes $15 worth of time, plus various in game items that sell separately for $10). Mac edition gives another month of game time plus everything from the Valkyrie pack (which woulda been another separate $10 purchase), and AE gives yet another month of time plus your choice of either the magic or cyborg booster pack (not martial arts, mutant, or science though.)
So if you have not applied any of those codes to your account yet, those are worth looking into. Come to think of it, those all seem to be net negative cost.
My favorite way to get free time is the refer a friend option. =) 4 months so far. Do you r part, sell your soul to NC Soft and convince everyone and their mother to try CoH so you can get free game time!

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

Savvy shoppers can buy copies even cheaper than that by checking out what's available on Amazon. I've picked up copies as gifts for as low as $5. (S&H included), of course I am careful to check the description to make sure it says something about the factory seal being intact.
