GR Goat Market Report

Okay, I've sold out most of the stuff I laid away in preparation for Marketgeddon, and while I've made a TON of inf it didn't play out exactly as I anticipated.

My main expectation was that melee sets would be my big moneymakers. Alas, it seems that enough other people had the same idea that prices were relatively restrained. Aside from the usual big winners (Kinetic Combat, Touch of Death) returns on crafted stuff has been in the 1-4 million range, which in a world where I can almost randomly pick an 'okay' recipe that's cheap to make, craft up ten of them and sell them for a million or so each just isn't worth it.

The surprise hit of my selection of MA-generated treasure has been Red Fortune. I moved my entire supply for 5 million +, which added up quite nicely.

But my main earner, which was almost an afterthought, has been PvP recipes. But not for the reason I thought. I expected the devs to crack down on AFK farming, which they don't seem to have done, but regardless my PvP recipes have generated billions in pure profit.

Not knowing much about them I just poked around and took notes on the stuff that was undersupplied- I found a couple of things with 0 supply, threw up stacks of bids and collected my wins just before the merger. Following my Rule of Zero I listed them after the merger at a genuinely ridiculous markup over my buying price and the last one sold this AM.
I made such a pile I will have to claim it in stages, pausing to Gleemail big lumps to other characters so I can stay under the cap.

The price disparity between recipes and crafted IOs is still going strong. There's a particular Positron's Blast IO I've been picking up for 100k, investing a million or so in crafting and selling for 8-10 million. The recipes come in fast and furious, my main hangup has been getting enough rare salvage- I may have to run some MA missions and buy what I need with tickets.

Anyone else find that their expectations about the new issue were off the beam? Any other surprise earners out there?

Lets see......I made a few bets on things.

#1 I bought piles of the pet damage uniques (non-purple) on a blueside toon or 2 starting about 9 mos ago. Total recipes acquired (205). Avg purchase cost of 11k..........I've sold 20 so far at an average selling price of 36M. I will still be making 300M a week in profits off this in March but its nice enough.

#2 I thought non-highend Pool C/Ds would do well while highend pool C/Ds would crash. So I bought alot of odd ball stuff that help make sets and I figured would rise from 5M cost to 20M or so. They averaged out going up 50% so like NG I crafted them to get an acceptable return. I now have huge piles of IOs pouring out of my base....but I'm averaging the 15M per IO/recipe profit I wanted though for much more work.

#3 I thought rare salvage would spike as people had alot more recipes to craft. So far this hasn't happened at all. I probably have lost 100M in opportunity cost on the slots these rares are clogging up.

#4 I thought there would be a field-day on prices of some of the more useful low level temps and common IOs. But people are apparently too lazy to walk to the 1 market and 1 uni in Prae so this hasn't come about. On a positive side.....I have enough recovery serums and kin dampeners stored on one toon to cover level 1-20 for about 11 accounts in case I ever get ambitious to play more in the pre-stamina time.

I too have done very well with Red Fortunes (and have been for 2 issues now). I dont get why they've held up so well but maybe with both NG and me playing them maybe we're keeping the price propped up. Not like there is a clearly better defensive set that isn't stupid hard to acquire.

All told I've made about 3B since GR went live which is maybe 600M more than I'd have made in the same period pre-GR. Hard to say how things will play out as all the Prae folks get to 50 (casual players not hardcore folks) but I have plans for that too....along with guesses on what i19 will do too.

Be curious to see how Inherent Stamina at 1 or 2 (Castle didn't recall which) affects things.

Edit -forgot the or in there.

I think it will increase demand in Luck of the Gamblers, but it's anyone's guess how much. For example when I finally get around to IO'ing out my Spines/Fire I will at least consider taking the stealth pool for three LoTG Recharge I wouldn't have been able to slot previously.

I expect the main change will be a massively increased demand for level 15 common endurance mod IOs.

Didn't go crazy really, as i'm too lazy to properly marketeer at the moment, i have nothing to spend my current cash on, let alone earn more :P

Probably made 300-500mill a week recently from just 30mins to an hour of markeering on and off

I bought up some damage purples (Ragnarok, Armageddon, Apocalypse) in what was Redside and resold them for a tidy profit.

Also accumulated a bunch of Hamis and Synth-Hamis through countless LRSFs and sold those for a 35% markup from the previous price.

Outside of that, not much movement over here. I already have most of the stuff I need stored, so no big deal purchasing here. I will agree with Goat on the PvP recipe fluctuations...Panaceas seem sky high at the moment while even more 'common' stuff is a little more expensive.

Most of my schemes didn't pan out. Two out of six types of Hecatomb reached my "overprice" point. (The others may have, this weekend.) A very few of my "be the first/only one selling x" sales panned out (I sold a costume recipe for a million, but only one of the 40 I listed.) I found a few ridiculous inefficiencies in the new market. (I don't know if I could have found similar things in the old market... Regen Tissue +Regen, buy at 26M and sell at 90M?) So I probably made a little more than I would have if I'd just ignored the market merge, but mostly I clogged a lot of slots.

Where I did make a billion or more, that I otherwise wouldn't have, was by generating 60 or more Midlevel Crisis recipes. This is where the new market shines for profit- what's a L31 Oblit quad worth? Usually, people paid my guess. I ate a few market fees, but one big win pays for a lot of mistakes. And the supply was free, with doing the new content!

PvP recipes have earned me far more than I anticipated. I bough about 80 Panacea recipes on Redside in the months leading up to GR, roughly 15 of each recipe and 4 uniques. The End/Heal/Rech alone is netting about 500 million profit a sale, while the Heal is at nearly 700 million profit a sale.

The other PvP investments are also panning out well, but only Shield Wall has come anywhere near the Panacea bonanza.

I was pretty surprised about the salvage market being so stable.

What do Proc120s do in an auto power?

I was never big on the market really, but when I have some extra recipes I don't need I'll usually craft em' up and sell them for a moderate price.

What with this market merge I'm hoping to get a bit more involved in the market, in terms of both buying and selling. (I'll try not to get played like a sucker by you market masters though, I know your tricks!)

But with inherent stamina, things will be changing a bit it seems.

For all intents and purposes, they're permanent in an auto power.

They check every ten seconds. If not on, they turn on. If already on, they check again in ten seconds.

This is why the Healing Procs are much better in the power Health, instead of Dull Pain.

Oh, my! I didn't even realize that. I guess because I've been playing a lot of MMs who don't have health/stamina, so I never tried to put a proc in either. Do chance-for-X have a chance every 10 seconds, then, in an auto power? (e.g., performance shifter chance for +end)

Yes. Performance Shifter proc is generally put in Stamina(and any other auto endurance powers). The average gain is 0.2 end/sec.

I put out bids for hundreds of things for "pennies on the dollar" post merger. Only about 6 of them have bought any so far however all of them are selling for more now than pre-merger. Worst part is all are ones I actually wanted for my characters.

I thought the sudden increase in new characters being created would cause a spike in demand for the Halloween costumes pieces, but that didn't happen at all. There are just too many left over from previous years. I'm doing better with the pet recipes, but even those aren't doing as well as I had hoped, probably because it was such an obvious strategy.

I like the idea of market commandments engraved in stone. What else should be on there? Something about patience, certainly.

Fulmens' commandment If You Didn't Leave A Bid Up for 24 Hours You Didn't Actually Try To Buy Anything needs to be there.

Hmm, what else...

I think your rule #1 about if it is good and none for sale it is underpriced.
