Store down needs to be fixed.

With the store down, I was unable to roll any new characters on my server of choice, effectively nullifying the head start portion of of preordering GR for me.

Thanks.

Exactly, any post from a red name as to when the store would be back up would be appreciated. And we're also suppose to be able to buy the support pack for the alpha and omega auras, as well as the stances today. I'm not seeing them in the playNC store either.

Should be back now, I've just bought the US Complete Collection and applied it. You may need to hard-refresh the page (shift+F5) to avoid loading older versions of the page.

Same here. I just got back from Gamestop, applied my code, and now can't play new characters on my server of choice. I deleted a name place holder, and now the slot is unavailable, I'm assuming because of the store being down. So I not only don't have my two new slots, but I don't have the two slots I have been saving.

Some kind of official word on this would be nice. I set aside the whole day for this, and it's going to waste.

It's like 7am over there. Let them at least have their coffee :/

This problem has been going on since yesterday. I filed a support ticket and was told they are aware of the problem and are working on it.

But I am terribly frustrated at being unable to make a Praetorian on Justice.

. . . Although completing the CoP was a very nice consolation prize.

What they really need to do is fix slots so they work like booster packs -- once you've bought them, the information about them is stored in the GAME ACCOUNT, so the connection to the store doesn't matter.

This is not rocket science. It's a well-understood technology, so well-understood that in fact the same dev team has been able to make it work -- go into the costume creator, and you'll discover that you have the pieces from any booster packs you've gotten even while the store is down!

Heck with their coffee. Get the store working NAOH!

I'm partially kidding of course, they can get the store working in 10 seconds from now and it'll be good.

Ok, 15 seconds. I'm not totually heartless.

Agreed. Store is a big deal for many players, especially those over their initial twelve slots on a server (to include my wife). Hoping that store stability gets settled and rectified soon. I won't need it personally until tonight, but many players are currently stuck with slots they cannot use and name placeholders that have been deleted for characters that cannot be created due to those stuck slots (meaning that camped name is now up for grabs by anyone).

Well, one would think that having the online store open on the day their new product releases would be a good thing so that people can, you know, buy it?

The difference is that costume packs work on a hidden badge system. You buy the pack, a hidden badge is applied to your characters, and that tracks what you've got access to. It's an account-wide badge, like Veteran powers, so it applies to new characters as well.

Slots, on the other hand, are managed before you load into the game... before badges come into play, so I wouldn't be TOO surprised that the "costume tech" can't be applied directly.

Someone probably was a little squeamish with tampering with something as critical as the account management server tech, so instead applied this to the store db. Maybe it was more malleable-- MMO's use a lot of 3rd party middleware: some permit modification, some don't (if you want additional support)... and it could be a matter of finding exactly WHERE to shoehorn the info.

And it applies before the character is created, because it's there on the login screen creation. So by the time you get to pushing that button, they know which addon packs you have. You haven't logged in, you haven't talked to a game server. The store is down. They know what addon packs you have.

I would.

Long story short: The reason you get paid money as a software developer is to figure out how to fix problems. This is the sort of bug which ought to be fixed even if it implies a significant database migration, because it is a constantly recurring barrier to user access to purchased content. Seriously, I've been playing this game for a month, and I've seen at least five or ten times when people started having this problem. Right now, it's happening at a time when many thousands of players have just gotten their first chance at access to new content that would justify character creation... and they can't create characters. Oh, that's BRILLIANT.

Not entirely disagreeing with you, but as a software developer and system integrator, I know some of the limits these guys are working under. You can't just swap out or upgrade a live system without substantial preparation, so you have to weigh THOSE costs against the potential losses in revenue from a less robust system.

Personally, looking at their store... is that written in perl? I hope their webserver has some sort of backend connection, because I can just see how a perl-based web api would have issues scaling with these kinds of loads.

This is certainly a 'Wake them up to fix it' issue, given that it's hitting right at the time when they are going to seriously need it. They were talking up the server transfers, and the new pack has the extra slots, all of which are down. I know I can't make any new Praetorians on any of the servers I actually play on, and given the rampant altitis here, that probably goes for a lot of folks.

Grrr... Arg....

I wholeheartedly agree. Being unable to make a Praetorian character on my preferred server, upon which I have lavished numerous extra slots, is quite a problem.

I wouldn't be surprised if they consider extending the 'free transfers' and so on due to this.

Not that it helps me any, as my laptop died again and I'm unable to play at all.

Ditto.

Oddly, last night I had some inconsistent hits where I DID seem to hit the store after logging in. Now, I can't reproduce it.

Hmm... I'm also getting a lot of "that account is already logged in" messages, even after long waits. Wonder if something's latching onto the existing login state and not freeing it or its connections....

The store is up (or at least it let me purchase the Collections pack). Are people still unable to access their purchased slots?

Chalk me up as another PO'd old timer. I cleared a slot to make a new Praetorian character and now, since this slot is beyond my original 12, can't. I'm attempting to reroll a blaster of mine as a dom and now might just lose the name (and it's a good one I've had for some time).

I LOVE GR, but this is nonsense. At least communicate with us about this gang. And "ZOMG These threads are everywhere" doesn't count as communication.

I've been getting these for weeks.
