Yeah, I'm having this issue too. It then goes on to tell me that it's either my firewall/networks fault or to check the server status page.
I can log into CoH fine, and I'd tried turning off my firewall, so I'm thinking it's not me.
Kinda glad to know I'm not alone. -
Thank you SO much for this Ruff Tuff N Buff. You are now officially my hero!
-
As I recall, we will be getting the ability ro buy 2 more costume slots with paragon points.
-
I've had this issue too. I've also had to roll back SEVERAL generations from 11.6 to 11.5, and all the way now to 11.3, so yeah. SO FAR 11.3 seems stable.
I've always been an NVIDIA guy before but I thought I'd try ATI this time out. I was a bit reluctant for this very reason, but I'd heard that ATI had gotten better. Incidentally I've been having similar crash issues in Fallout: NV on these new drivers. I'm curious to see if 11.3 is stable for that too.
Guess I shoulda listened to my first impulse.
(Windows 7 Pro, i7-2600k, 8GB RAM, Radeon HD 6950) -
As one of those viewers, I can tell you, I'm here looking for the same thing you are. I just rolled a Fire/Dark and am looking for ideas.
Sadly, as you're further along in your build than I am, I've no worthwhile advice, so... -
OK, thanks to some really good in-game advice my build is currently as follows. Any other suggestions?
This gets my Ranged Defense up to 31.9% (WOW!), my other positional defenses around 16% and my Smash/Lethal resist up to 26.4%. I've also only got a 20.01 second delay on Hasten. Not bad at all. With the Aplah Damage Enhamcement this is looking pretty good.

Hey all. I've got an old lvl 50 AR/Em Blaster that I've finally decided to update to i-19 and slot up. I've put this build together so far (it's my first really setted out build), and was looking for some feedback from you build gurus.
My goal is to up my defense and recharge without driving myself into the poorhouse. Basically I want durability and recharge. Damage is nice too, but if the recharge in the build is high enough damage'll be what I focus my Alpha Slot on.
I realize flight isn't' the most profitable travel power I could go with slotting wise, but I like it too much to skip. I'd happily ditch hover though if it'd help.

I think THIS: ftp://ftp.coh.com/movies/coh_720x405.wmv) was my first awareness of COH. I fell in love instantly.
I followed the development of CoH starting during it's Alpha stage. Followed the development as it went from Alpha to Beta. Remember sadly the change from the free power selection to Archetypes (a decision now vindicated as we see that other game failing).
Started playing during the pre-order phase of beta. I'd played MMO's before, but my first 5 minutes in CoH were a revelation. The graphics, the movement, the way the powers worked, it was amazing. Played for a good long while. Took a break or two (the most notable being when CoV launched and Regen got it's IH non-toggle nerf. Like many I raged against ED, but in the end came to love the new system. I came back for i11 (Dual Blades!) and haven't left since.
I'm just about to receive my 60 month vet badge.
It's been a rocky road, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love this game.
Oh, and a tip of the hat to Boxhead (Boxhed?) A few of you might remember who I mean.
**Edit** I notice, with some amusement, that I've got the earliest Join Date so far in this thread.

I've got a crazy suggestion. I've had almost this exact same problem happen twice. Once back when my PC was young and once more recently. BOTH times it's had to do with the power switch.
1st time the motherboard end of the power switch leads weren't seated just right. Every so often the connection would short and the computer would reboot it's self. Sometimes it would do this over and over (I eventually realized the cycle between reboots was roughly 8 seconds, or just long enough for a hard reboot by holding in the power switch). I tapped the plug firmly onto it's prongs on the board and all was well for years.
2nd time was more recently. Long story short the actual case switch had gone bad (9yr old case) and was shorting its self.
To summarize, play around with the power switch and where it plugs into the motherboard. It's a long shot, but a new case/switch is a hell of a lot cheaper than a motherboard. -
Quote:Ah, my bad. Someone was showing me the party emotes and added the throwconfetti in there for some odd reason.Actually, the recycled one is the present opening from the Winter Event... so basically a 4(?) year old emote.
Ashes to ashes,
Pheonyx
Anyway, my point still stands. Boo. -
More customer feedback here!
Chalk me up as another uninterested customer. I've bough every pack/edition (Except the Deluxe DVD), they've released so far. This one I'm passing on. 8 emotes for $8? No thanks.
Really it's 7 new emotes and one recycled one (throwconfetti/throwsnow/throwrice/throwrosepedals/throwwhateverpartystuffitis)
I know this has been beaten to death at this point, but I'm a believer in customer feedback, so there's my 2 cents. Nothing new just another voice added to the cacophony. -
Quote:I'll throw down too.How about I reaffirm my love for this game by showing a history of serial codes I've applied to my account over the years (minus the actual codes)?

Let me just say. Thanks Paragon. I haven't had this much fun since CoH yr 1 -
Didn't Babs or Posi, at one point, say something like;
"We can either spend time and resources revamping the old content or building new content, so we choose to add new content instead."
If that still holds, then I wouldn't hold my breath. Personally as much as I'd like the old zones spruced up I'd much rather they flesh out Praetoria. -
Lets see, in my day...
- Katana was a carbon copy of Broadsword.
- You couldn't skip the tutorial.
- when the first couple of people on the server hit 14 and could fly we all stopped and watched in awe.
- Debt was a SERIOUS problem that you tried like hell to avoid.
- There was none of this combining of inspirations crap.
- There WAS no pocket D, and most of the RP'ing happened out in the open or in the park in southern Galaxy.
- You couldn't be a real villain, but there were SG's made up of villain wannabes
- There was no Hollows. Just Kings or Perez.
- Street sweeping in Boomtown was a great way to get from lvl 11 to lvl 14 for your travel power.
- We still thought Statesman was a pretty OK guy.
- And Regen scrappers were GODS. -
-
Chalk me up as another PO'd old timer. I cleared a slot to make a new Praetorian character and now, since this slot is beyond my original 12, can't. I'm attempting to reroll a blaster of mine as a dom and now might just lose the name (and it's a good one I've had for some time).
I LOVE GR, but this is nonsense. At least communicate with us about this gang. And "ZOMG These threads are everywhere" doesn't count as communication. -
Yeah, I've been through zone crashes before. I've never had it take so long to come back up though. Usually by the time I've logged in another character the zone is back up.
It all worked out though. I've been around a loooong time and never had it happen just like that before. Just seemed a bit anomalous.
No harm no foul. -
Welp. Another 10 minutes of load time and still no Steel Canyon. The load line is now about two inches long.
I had NO trouble logging either character in, originally. I had NO trouble getting my second character to log in and load Atlas Park. WTH is up with Steel?
*Edit* Waited another five minutes before I gave up and closed the client. Rebooted it (again). Everything is fine. My first character loaded into Steel no trouble. Whatever was going on is over.
Nevermind... -
So I was playing CoX this morning running around Steel Canyon selling off some enhancements. After I finished I went North from Blyde Square to hit the Tram. Shortly after I set out my client froze up and mapservered me. I tried to log back into my character several times over the course of 10 or so minutes and was told that my character was still logging out. So I switched to another character and successfully logged into the game. Again trying to head to Talos I took the tram from Atlas to Steel.
I've now been waiting about 10 minutes for Steel to load. In that time the loading bar has moved only slightly. IT's filled just shy of past statesmans foot.
Whats up? Zone crash? Whats going on? I'm afraid to close the client for fear I'll get a second character stuck in Steel Canyon Limbo.
*edit* Nice typo in my subject line. :\ -
Count me as another person with this problem. Windows xp SP3, GeForce 7600 GS. I'd left the game back when STO launched, but returned for I17. Now I've got hideous chat lag and the same movement issue. If I depress a movement key for very long it seems to overwhelm the game with that command and I move in that direction (jumping included) for an extended period even after I release the key. CoH is also running at 100% on the CPU which I'm pretty sure it didn't used to do.
Interestingly the problem seems to come and go. I'll have it for a few minutes then it'll be ok for a few. Then it starts again. However the CPU still showes at 100% even during the ok times.
I"m beginning to regret returning. The game is unplayable for me. Hopefully they get this situation fixed PDQ or I might just have to un-return...
*Edit* Ok I've got MY solution. Interestingly my M$ keyboard driver included a runnning process called itype.exe the Intellitype driver app. Removing it seems to have cleared up my problem. -
*EDIT* My post is pointless as I apparently failed to read the entire OP. Just ignore me.
<slinks back into obscurity> -
Yeah Turbo Mode. Takes that 3.46Ghz OC up to something liek 3.6ish VERY nice.
I'm not starting out with a second GPU, no, but it's likely the first thing I'll do to upgrade. That and DX11 are the two reasons I'm inclined to go ATI. i COULD probably chase down a GTX 260 if I needed to, but what are the odds i'll find one 6-8 months from now? Pretty much nil.
Yeah, I think I'm pretty content with the specific combo I've got now.

Thank you all VERY much for your help. I really appreciate it! -
Cool. That's reassuring. Frankly the overclockability of that intel is also a big point of interest. In the past one of the primary reasons i HAVEN'T overclocked were my AMD CPU's. My Athlon xp 2700 runs HOT. Looking at them, the voltage used by the new Athlons suggests that they are going to be the same way. Real scorchers.
I remember a video on toms hardware from years ago where they ran a series of AMD and Intel CPU's without fans and heatsinks. the Intels all gradually slowed down and froze up. The AMD's *** quickly fried and one of them even lit on fire and burned a hole in the mobo.
The lesson of that has sort of stuck with me ever since. I suppose it's part of why I wanted to look at Intels this time.
I have read, however, that the i5 suffers a bit in SLI or X-fire modes as compared to the Phenom. Know anything about that?
*EDIT* HA! Found it! Ok it didn't catch fire, but they definitely sizzled... Funny how the memory over dramatizes... -
I suppose it's not very odd that the exact things that drew me to that board drew everyone else to it too, yeah.
Another question. Should i be paying more attention to AMD processors? i've disliked the last few I've had as they had exposed chips. No cover over the processor, but I understand that not to be the case anymore. And as always they seem to be running considerably less expensive. For roughly the price of my above i5 lynnfield one could pick (For example)
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 140W Quad-Core Processor
Am I better off sticking with Intel or should I give AMD another try. I saw on his $1200 build that father Xmas liked Intel better for that price point. is there a particular reason?
Is there any merit to the idea that, since ATI is owned my AMD, perhaps they'll play together better?
*EDIT* Hm looking at their respective Futuremark scores the Intel seems to rather blow away the AMD in some areas (gaming in particular). Guess that answers that question...
*MORE EDIT* Ok apparently the i5 is really good on overclocking Read Here. Interestingly enough with the very Mobo I'm hoping to get. They easily got it up to 3.46Ghz without even monkying with the voltage. Very nice. Perhaps I will dabble a bit with that, though i doubt I'll push anything that far.
