Need good news for once
Going Rogue has been some of the most fun I've ever had in the game. Ever. Across 3.5 years. It's reset my interest in the franchise, and other veteran reviews seem to match mine.
And to be perfectly technical, there's not one bad review of it...

i just saved a bundle on my car insurance.
honestly, every issue has people unsatisfied, its human nature, in beta it was worse. the live reaction has been remarkably refreshing. i have been here since 04, it is EVERY issue. And honestly, not all of them are trolls, everyone wants something, if you didnt get anything with the issue, maybe you have some spleen to vent, so long as they stay constructive, its a free forum, they go jerk, i go jerk, but so far the positive has been palpable, and the red and yellow servers..those are music to all our ears. just one thing to know, the beta community helped a lot here, and the dev community was very receptive, without those two this would not be as it is, i haven't been a part of other game's beta testing communities(and not necessarily me, i had a lot of work the past few months), so i don't have a real yardstick, but the devs listened, often over the din of a blind guardian concert, and I think that really showed their commitment to making the game that we want, they listened well.
* While playing Texas Hold 'Em recently I was dealt a Jack of Diamonds and a King of Spades... they were off-suit so after the hand played out I refered to my hand as "Jack-King off" .... I given my chips and asked to leave...
* Emperor Cole has come up with the perfect plan for keeping his rule intact... every super powered being who reaches 20th level gets shipped off-planet.
* They introduced a "Girlfriend from Hell" with Going Rogue... except she doesn't look a thing like my ex... the friends she hangs around with are dead ringers for my ex's best friends tho'...
* Hey... considering how many bugs there were in it when Closed Beta first started the fact that it's running at all is good news!
* At last I can go into Atlas Park and not hear a thousand annoying and juvenile broadcast conversations... Hmmm... Is there a way people can be locked in Nova Praetoria?
* We finally got those full servers so many people have been asking for! And the Queue waiting message will teach people how to count backwards at the same time!
* Good news? Issue 19 has been upgraded to Soon(tm).
My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw

The weekend is coming. News doesn't get any better than that, does it?

I am turning off XP so I can do ALL of the contacts in Nova. That's how bought in I am.
Oh and emailing SO's from Yin's grocery to my Praetorian absolutely ROCKS!!!
Never was immersed into the story as good as I am now... The descisions you can make are awesome!!!
For the first time it actually feels like I am a villain... (if you dont believe me ask the guy with two broken hands)
And yes... I will show my history to show how much I like this game...

Maybe everyone's not die hard CoX junkies that care to have 50 level 50s... The power sets are not that diversified that I can keep my interest in leveling too many of the same arch. Kudos to those who can.
Maybe some of us were expecting more to do for our level 50s. THAT'S how a game keeps going and keeps people's interest. Leveling is transient. Being 50 is not. This is a them-park game without any new cool rides coming in. Would be different if this was a sandbox, but it's not.
Last night my DP Blaster hit 50 at the end of my first hero morality mission. I used my 50 merits to do two random recipe pulls. It gave me the recipes I needed to complete not one, but two IO sets. What a culmination!
I immediately logged out to go buy a lottery ticket
That's funny. Because i level a character to 50 ... and i can't wait to level up another!
What sets this game aside from others, in my opinion is that you can differ your characters very well from any of your own or other people's. Sure, there are so-called 'win' builds, but i think any build can be 'win .. provided it's used correctly.
Infact, it's probably the one thing which keeps me playing CoX. Certain other fantasy-based MMO's don't offer as much variety, it's basically "You're an orc, with a bow. Just like that guy. And that guy. Oh and that guy over there. Have you met Jim? He's just like you
Whilst in CoX, i haven't seen any duplicates of my characters. Ever. But maybe that's my enjoyment because i enjoy making concepts for characters.
My philosophy is, if you're bored of something, don't do it. So, for example, if you're bored of your level 50's because 'supposedly' there's nothing to do and you can't be bothered to roll alts ... there's always other things to do.
Edit: Also, for good news, i spent an hour or more making my first Praetorian. Normally, i have the idea ready and i go and make it. But i had too many ideas. And then the Alpha and Omega pieces came along :P
I was doing some playthroughs of City of Heroes. Now they will serve as memories of a better time ...
How about I reaffirm my love for this game by showing a history of serial codes I've applied to my account over the years (minus the actual codes)?

2010-08-18: 9,849
2010-08-19: 9,465
Here's a chart, just because I like them. It shows the number of visitors on a seven-day sliding window:

Keep in mind that August isn't done yet; I'd bet a large sum of money that it will break all records I've been keeping since the start of 2009. I have a feeling that that uptick at the end is going to stay that high at least through the weekend. And that doesn't even account for the fact that for a few hours the other night, the whole server was toast due to the load and no one was able to access the sites.
Or how about this. The past four days hold the first, second, third, and fourth spots on the all-time high number of visitors. The number five spot? June 30, 2009, the day after Issue 15: Anniversary hit the live servers. We had 7,299 visitors that day. Ponder that a second. The average number of visitors for the past three days is blowing away the previous high number of visitors by almost 28%. Page loads reflect similar numbers.
Even more generally, I really like how since December, the number of visitors has been climbing steadily, not declining. In spite of all of the DOOOM!-crying that has been going on, the game is not dying. Yes, it has a "down" cycle around the end of 2009, just like it's had before and probably will again. But Going Rogue really has re-energized everyone, and it sounds like they've got more plans in store to keep those numbers up. Maybe not as high as they are right this second, but high enough that I'm not too worried about the people who keep coming here hoping to pee on our parade.
I'm sure that some would argue that there's little or no direct correlation between Paragon Wiki visitors and subscribers, that the game is still going to hell in a handbasket. I contend that those people are, for whatever reason, deluding themselves, that the game is actually quite popular, that the reality of the situation isn't as bad as some people think it is, and that all in all, the game is going in a good direction, not bad.
That's good, as in, "Good news, indeed."
And just in case someone thinks I'm fudging the chart by using a sliding window trendline instead of the absolute number of visitors, Here's that chart. I was just trying to keep it from looking like a polygraph readout. Notice that the numbers for the past few days literally go off the chart. IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
What on earth is up with all these people doing negative posts now GR hits...im all for one people sharing their honest views, but they range from....oh as i cant get a 50 in praetoria im leaving or i dont say gr is here...oh special merits take how long- F63K that then etc etc...and the worst ones....Im not even PLAYING pratoria till X thing is out or done etc..

Since the preview, billed as a preview, didn't have new content, but instead gave us bonuses for the level 50 content already in the game, they screamed "DONT WANT!".
Since they learned that the Incarnate Slots weren't enabled when you exemplared to make them even more overpowered while exemplaring, they screamed "DONT WANT!".
Now that they learned (just now?) that GR doesn't have new level 50 content they are screaming "DONT WANT!" to Praetoria, and to the whole game in general.
The Devs buckled to them with regard to the Alpha Slot. Obviously, the Devs are not going to do the same with Praetoria, so, the current hold-my-breath outcries will get nowhere.
Keep an eye out for when the Incarnate Slots are actually introduced with new content, they'll still be screaming "DONT WANT!" because it will not be applied to exemplaring. Their non-constructive criticisms will need to be met with equal amounts of shouting them down lest they convince the Devs to do something stupid again.

People of paragon..and Villains a far..lend me your support.
A terrible thing has cometh to these lands and sadly has casted a depressing aura onto this fine fourm.
GR hits us like a train @1000MPH...and hit us successfully..All shout out for joy like some guy officially telling us that chocolate is the cure for common cold.
....
But some trolls have entered our lands and decided to attack us.
ok enough with the story like drama....

I love reading these forums in and out of the game, but these posts while truely small in numbers is depressing (not rl depressing but enough thinking is it even worth reading a post), and has lead me to post some, not always nice posts..nothing truely direct and sometimes been more advice but sounded bad...and i dont want to continue this..and while u say u dont have to..or doont then..sometimes ( and u knoe this) some threads just shout out to be neg'd on.
People just dont seem to either understand the reasoning behind GR- including why only lvls 1-20 were brought out first..that or they havent reading the fourms/notes about GR (and some say they cant be borthered to and still complain).
So while i think this is my first official OP rant in the 4+yrs ive been here...i give it to you.. the best MMO community in the world...
GIVE ME SOME GOOD NEWS FOR ONCE...anyting will do nicely
