what kind of logic is this
so they can do 1-14 content
might as well give it away

Logic is that they will have to buy GR and not a $0.99 copy of the previous games.

Edit: That is if they wish to keep that trial character.

What do you expect them to do? They spent the better part of a year creating this deep, beautiful and complex starting experience just to make trial accounts run sewer teams?

What kind of logic is that?

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

I can't imagine how hard Pratoria would be without vet powers

Also, Trials won't see how relatively bad the graphics are in the open-world areas that aren't in Praetoria. <_< AKA impenetrable fog of OMG I CAN'T SEE!

I really hate how many areas in the old world have the fog drawn in so close, even at 200%. The view you get in Praetoria and the Shadow Shard is incredible.

It's a business tactic. If new players like what they see in Praetoria, that's another new subscription, which is good news for both us and NCSoft.

If it works, I'm all for it!

Now, back to your game-playing, Citizen. Long live the Cockroach Empire!

Praetoria is (in theory) the best introduction to CoH/V in content terms. If trial players don't get access to it, it seems like a hugely wasted opportunity.

Then, however, to keep those trialists they've got convince them they need to pay more for GoRo than they see CoH/V currently selling for. It's a challenge.

Anyone started a trial account to test this out?

Yep. Just did and it does indeed make you create your first character in Praetoria.

And as I said, that forces you to buy GR if you wish to upgrade that account. Can't go cheap and by AE edition.

I disagree. It denies you 6 levels of content as well as many social functions. That, and you lose your character after 14 days of an MMO.

No, no this is great logic and had a strong hand in my partner go from "Learning about Marcian's interest" to "I must own this game for myself NAO!"

Her copy of the Going Rogue: Complete Edition is en route.

i can. In beta i made a point of only using non-combat vet powers. It was... rough at times.

Pretty darn easy, given that I've been playing through it on a brand-new account.

Glad they went this path since it is the best new player experience on offer in CoH/V.

I believe it's "attracting new customers and staying in business" logic.
