Glad someone mentioned Homestuck. It's predecessor, Problem Sleuth, is also well worth reading.

Nobody's mentioned Schlock Mercenary yet? Shame on you lot!

Explosm.net is great. It's run by 3 or 4 different people and gets updated daily, so it has thousands of strips already to read.

Hero by Night, an excellent super-hero web comic. unfortunately the writer stopped writing it quite a while ago.

I'm not very webcomic savvy, but there is one that I found and eventually just started reading it from the beginning. Its on www.questionablecontent.net and goes back a few years, with them posting a new comic every Monday through Friday. I like this one a lot because it has a lot of sarcasm in it...plus a crazy little robot.

Well, I did mention PS, too.

But yeah, Homestuck is by far the best webcomic on the internet at the moment. It has a deep plot that can get very dramatic without sacrificing the comedy. Something badass happens every few comics (the rate increases constantly, with more and more happening, to the point where there are often long strings of pages that are just way awesome). Plus, the pages that have sound to them are always epic win (and there are a lot of them).

Read Homestuck. All of you. Right now.

Hmm. Sifting through my bookmarks, listing only stuff no one's mentioned yet:

Gunnerkrigg Court (http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/) - Antimony Carver sees dead people, but she's still not that weird compared to the rest of her boarding school. Sizeable archive. Continuous story, start from the beginning with the knowledge that Antimony's head shape rapidly becomes less peculiarly ovoid.

Bad Machinery and its predecessor, Scary Go Round (http://www.scarygoround.com/) - Slices of life in smallish-town England, if it involved zombies, mad science, time travel, devil bears, inept mayors, jam, magic pencils, and cursed sports magnates. Gargantuan archive. Discrete but related stories, starting from the beginning helpful but not necessary. No knowledge of SGR technically needed for Bad Machinery.

Hark, a Vagrant (http://harkavagrant.com/) - Mostly warped looks at historical figures and literature. Decent archive. No continuing story.

Digger (http://www.diggercomic.com/) - A story about a wombat, a talking statue, a crazy girl, a hyena whose name has been eaten, and a shadow that may or may not be a demon. Sizeable archive. Continuous story, start from the beginning.

Hanna Is Not a Boy's Name (http://hanna.aftertorque.com/) - In addition to having a girl's name, Hanna Falk Cross is of dubious value as a paranormal investigator. Small archive. Continuous story, start from the beginning.

Fey Winds (http://kitsune.rydia.net/index.html) - Would be a pompous high fantasy potboiler epic if not for a complete inability to take itself seriously. Decent archive. Continuous story, start from the beginning.

Love Something Positive.

Bear Nuts. Extremely cute, very funny, very well drawn. Favorite bear is either Tanked or Evil.

The Zombie Hunters. Probably NSFW as it deals with violence and such in a post-apocalyptic zombie world.

Punch n Pie. Continuation of the author's previous comic (kinda), Queen of Wands. Quite funny.

Or pull a stunt like RPG World did, with the author just deciding he didn't want to do it anymore right when the story was hitting it's climax.

I'll suggest a few:
70-Seas
Buck Godot - Zap Gun for Hire
DMFA
Girl Genius
Keychain of Creation

Buck Godot and Girl Genius are both Phil Folio comics.

Buck Godot is rather short and ended a long time ago (it's a print comic that is available online for free now) but the epic arc that it ended with is well worth the read. That arc starts here.

Used to like Megatokyo until it started getting too serious and relationshipy. Pretty much happened when the guy Largo is based on left it, I believe. I still kind of liked it, but I'm not all that keen on a straight relationship tale. That stuff was okay when it was still mixed in with a lot of humor and game references. I still have a "Does anyone here speak l33t? t-shirt, heh. That and the rent your own Godzilla bits were my favorites, I think.

Someone already gave a shout out for XKCD, and I have to agree. Quite excellent... think this one still my favorite.

I also enjoy PHD, aka "Pretty Heavy and Deep," a reference to the other way of translating "BS, MS, and PhD." Been going for about 13 years now, so you can skip around a bit and see if you like what's still going on. Focuses some on teaching and grad school, but there is plenty of other humor... like what to do when you're short of money and hungry: simple! Find a place with free food on a table and pretend you belong!

Guide: Tanking, Wall of Fire Style (Updated for I19!), and the Four Rules of Tanking
Story Arc:
Belated Justice, #88003
Synopsis: Explore the fine line between justice and vengeance as you help a hero of Talos Island bring his friend's murderer to justice.
Grey Pilgrim: Fire/Fire Tanker (50), Victory

Plus it's had a lot of schedule slips lately. That combined with the increasing twistiness of the plot and I really don't know what the hell is going on anymore.

Ugh, yeah, I hated that too. And speaking of "RPG World", that reminded me of another comic I used to read, which I also highly recomend: Mark Shallow's "Adventurers!". "Adventurers!" was (And I use was because he finished it) a comic that poked fun at console RPG conventions (Much like "RPG World"). I'd recomend that anyone who reads it starts here.

An example of the comic (And yes, the art does get better):

Mark also does another Webcomic, "Anti-Hero for Hire", which he is still producing.

There's a schedule to Megatokyo anymore?

Coulda fooled me...

Aw, man! It does my heart extra-good to see some of my favorite not-very-well-known comics mentioned. ( Hanna Is Not A Boy's Name, Antihero for Hire, Buck Godot, Keychain of Creation )

But yes, YAY COMICS!
Looks like I'll be catching up on The Zombie Hunters from wherever it was last I read through it, and reading through Fey Winds, and for some reason I never did read through Bob and George (probably the extreeeeemely slow start) but I'd better do that too...

And I suppose I aughta throw a suggestion out there too, instead of just eating everyone else's! Nobody Scores is one of those not-well-known ones. Episodic in that each comic is out of the continuity of the others.. and yet there's not the sense of stagnation that you normally get from "wacky antics" that have no real repercussions. And let me tell you, I hate wacky repercussionless antics that sitcoms have trained writers to write. This comic is awesome, and you should feel awesome.

I’m still ticked off over Tribes: The Dog Years.

Once IDW offered to publish the comic as a graphic novel, the creator immediately cancelled the webcomic & closed the forums.

If you want to know how it ends, you’ll have to shell out $16.95 to find out…I’ll pass.

I won't link it as it's about as NSFW as you can get, but if you're not offended by sexual pervsions, then Sexy Losers is great.

I tend to not read webcomics with a story for long stretches at a time, as I prefer to read a bunch in one sitting to reading one whenver the author breaks it out. Figured that out when I read through the first few hundred Megatokyo strips and had to wait for him to make more. Heh.

Forgot to note the two webcomics that use well-known movies to poke fun at tabletop roleplaying games. First one I read (and maybe of the bunch) was DM of the Rings, which obviously used the LOTR movies and told a complete story. It's done now, so read through and enjoy it all.

Then a group of guys started doing the same with the Star Wars movies. I enjoyed DM of the Rings more, but this is still pretty good. I know some here know about this, but I thought I would throw it out there. I summon bigger fish!
