What made you choose your handle?
I'm just highly unimaginitive.
Actually, it dates back to high school. My bus used to drop us off at about 6:50, and class didn't start until 8:00, so my friends and I would hang out in the cafeteria and draw. One day we decided we'd all draw the most useless superhero we could think of. I drew myself in the clothes I happened to be wearing that day (a grey teeshirt and jeans) and added "-Man" to the end of my name. My friends, for some unknown reason, actually thought it was kind of cool.
A short while later, during another pre-class drawing session, we invented our own pretend clothing line for characters to wear known as "Stuff, Inc." Ever seen Chad in game? Wondered what the S on his shirt stood for? Now you know.
Main Hero: Chad Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1396 Badges
Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges

I got a copy of the trial on disk, installed, and logged on the first time with grand designs to take on the name of one of my favorite characters from when I played the old Marvel Superheroes RPG.
The name was, of course, taken.
I tried a second name I liked from playing that game. It was also taken.
In a huff, I re-rolled into an ice/ice blaster... grabbed a thesaurus and, no, 'Chill' was not available as a name. I really wanted to play, so changed the 'i' to 'y'. I have never looked back.
Ven-ra was a a fabricated name i started about 10 years ago. The idea was I wanted the name to resemble a mixture of a demon who had found his way to an angel. It is a name that i often use for any characters. He is a vigilante of sorts and was meant as a dual pistol character, but being as when I started him they were not a part of the game I used claws. When I first purchased CoV some 3 or 4 years ago I started him with the wolverine claws. When I restarted (forgetting all my account info, which is why my handle is now Ven-ra1) I chose claws again, since dual pistols were still not available, and chose the flat blades this time around. Which seems a better fit for the character. Sorry beginning to ramble......
Welcome Ven-ra to the forums!
I was on another forum and we were having a Kim Possible kick. I thought about it, Kim Possible, Ron Stoppable, what is there about my real name that I could use? Rick Tacular!
the LtCol I work for ordered me to us this handle.
205723: A Different DESTINY
When Soldiers of Arachnos got their names added to the Destiny List, Longbow managed to get a copy of the list and began rounding villains up. But one name on the list shocked them...
This was my first MMO and I had no idea what to name my first toon. I wanted something unique, not often thought of, ethereal, and Star Wars related.
I thought of those really cool, long, tall creatures at the cloning facility on the rain planet. When the creature met Obi Wan at the door she (he?) introduced her (him) self and it sounded like Lanna Su. The real name never mattered enough to me to look it up. Lanna is one of my faorite characters to play and I like the sound of it.
I feel like Lanna suits me and people seem to know me that way. I wouldn't change it.
Genius may have its limitations, but stupidity is not thus handicapped.
<- My first character was a kin/rad defender. True story.
Make a man a fire and keep him warm for the day, SET a man on fire and keep him warm for the rest of his life.
Incarnates: K'lir(Fire/Dark Corr):Hot-House Flower(Plant/Fire Dom):Kinrad X(Kin/Rad Def):Itsy-Bitsy Spider(Crab):Two Ton Tony(Mace/WP Broot):Teeny Weeny Widow(Fortunata/Widow) : Zeroth Law (Ice/Fire Tank)
That's brilliant, I never even noticed.
Although, chocobos started going "kweh" after FFVIII I thought, (FFVII they "warked"). Do they still "wark" in XI? |
Maybe I'll make a character named Opukweh to be the evil Praetorian version or something =P

Dusty Trophies
hello
I always used the name Baroness Hotbox in every MMO played, named after the old GI JOE Baroness character. I've always had a thing for chicks in black cat suits, like Emma Peel from the old Avengers, the Baroness etc.
In SWG, I got another player REALLY mad at me so they reported the name, and a GM came on, who was friends with the offended player, and made me change it. I came up with a new one on the spot- Inveigle or Inviegle, which means to tempt or lie with words, which I thought was appropriate.
It's stuck with me since 2004.
How do you change your handle? I'm trying to change my forum handle to ArachnosWoman because my new Global is @Arachnos Woman!
I've already forgotten about most of you
I'd created a superhero way back when I was 14 called Maestro.
Had little to do with music though, rather he forced his own evolution and in doing so became Master of this reality. Able to bend reality to his will
I used Maestro in many games from then on.
So natually, when I picked up this gem and finally decided on Energy/Energy Blaster I rolled him up and typed in the name...
Name invalid? I just figured someone else already had the name (I took full pleasure in handing the AV Maestro his pink slip as soon as I found him. Teach you to take my name!)
Anyways, I was really into Roman culture at that time so one of the 1st names that came to mind was Sytavian. Though I didn't like the way Maestro Sytavian flowed.
So Mavius (May-V-Us) was born!
These days, I go by Mavius in most every game I play.
Maestro Mavius - Infinity
Capt. Biohazrd - PCSAR
Talsor Tech - Talsorian Guard
Keep Calm & Chive On!
I thought I had already posted in there.
Mental Giant was my first toon name, and I usually use that as my handle for an MMO.
Agua Man lvl 48 Water/Electric Blaster
"To die hating NCSoft for shutting down City of Heroes, that was Freedom."
P.P.S. Since I'm bored now, the names of the people who posted above me, translated.

PS Inquisitor was the character name I reserved back as part of the pre-order dealie. As to why I picked it then and use it as my @name: It's just cool. And unexpected.

@Inquisitor
Holy necropost.
Back when I was playing EQ, I decided that I'd roll a character for RP purposes, but could not think of a name, so I spent about 5 minutes with the (terrible) Random name generator until a long, convoluted name caught my eye. I shortened it, added an 'n', and Lenilya was born.
Kept it as a character and/or global in every game since.

My local renaissance festival happens between April and May.
(around the time CoH was released)
A common sign in most of the shops used to be -
"Master Charge and Lady Visa Accepted"
When CoH came out my first roll was an Energy/Energy blaster.
First thing I thought of for a name was Master Charge.
I made a 2nd Energy/Energy blaster that I ended up playing a lot
more and Master Charge fell by the wayside.
He became the most deleted and rerolled hero in my stable.
Still there . . . just waiting for me. (weeps softly)
