I've come into a little bit of money from graduation, enough to upgrade one component of my computer. Question is, what should I upgrade?
The motherboard? I have a little Foxconn motherboard that's been very good to me. The problem is that it can't recognize the full 4 GB of RAM I bought for it, nor will it ever. Now, 3.12 GB RAM doesn't seem to be holding me back any, but I paid for 4, darn it! :kaola:
Or, should I upgrade the Video Card? Currently I have a GeForce GTS 450, and while I can ratchet up the graphics options in my game to max with little difficulty, I know that a burlier video card will help when things get really busy on the screen.
Or should I get an SSD? This one is likely the least likely to upgrade since I do have a second HD for my games and it's pretty spry. But still, an SSD. They're coool...
So, there are the options I'm considering. Thanks for your opinion! -
No, it's not the particle count (which I do have to minimum). It's the lighting effects, such as the sonic bubbles and stuff like that. There seems to be no way to change that, they're at full no matter what, and in a trial it's literally blinding.
-
I am on a little laptop with a little video chip and I am getting blinded and killed by other people's lighting effects (sonic bubbles being the biggest PITA). I know and use the FX suppression for my own characters, but is there a command to suppress other's FX so I can see what's going on and take that stress off of my lappy? Thanks! =)

Quote:This worked! I just have to remember to hold the Shift+G down for a full second to get it to work.Well, you can "kind of" bind to one keypress.
/bind shift+g "+down$$powexectoggleon super jump$$powexectoggleon super speed"
Assuming neither toggle is active, pressing shift+g will activate super speed. Releasing shift+g will then toggle on super jump.
Just don't press/release TOO fast, or only super speed will activate.
Also, if you're flying for some reason, you'll descend while using this bind.
(Thank You)^100!! =D -
I apologize if this question has been asked and answered already. I looked but couldn't find an answer, but I admit my search-fu can be weak.
I have Super Speed and Super Jump. I happily use both but I want to make a bind that will activate them together. I use Shift+G for my travel powers, and have tried
/bind shift+g "powexec_name super jump$$powexec_name super speed"
but it just plain doesn't work. It will fire off Super Jump, but not Super Speed.
Now, as I understand it, this is because the bind fires off both commands simultaneously, and since the game can't do that, it only fires off the first command.
Is there a way I can get both of these commands on one keybind? There is no "pause" that I know of or have been told of.
Thanks for the help! =) -
I hope I'm posting in the right area. Since I'm looking to get the Monkeywrencher badge (eventually) I figured this was as good a place as any.
Every time I try to get 2 hercs to merge they just won't. I beat both of them down to Near-Death but they won't have anything to do with each other. This is has been going on for me since i18/GR. If I'm in a mish and they're right next to each other when I encounter them, they won't merge. If I'm hunting and I pull two together, they won't merge. No matter what the situation, they just won't merge. Has anyone else encountered this? Thanks. =) -
I was on another forum and we were having a Kim Possible kick. I thought about it, Kim Possible, Ron Stoppable, what is there about my real name that I could use? Rick Tacular!

I have the don't show powers option to enabled but I still see my powers when I'm close and all and I know that there is a command like /CloseFXDist 30 (where 30 is the dist) because I know that the game assumes that "close" is "first person perspective" and I apologize for this post b/c my 3 yo is climbing me like a jungle gym and my wife is pestering me to fax some paperwork so thanks for the help and have a nice day! =D

No, I tried my hand at customization, and then later accidentally deleted the Chat tab that was on the bottom of the Chat Window, then tried to recreate it and although it's functional, I'd just like to reset everything to it's default setting. The suggestions you sent didn't work. I guess because I didn't actually *save* a default...but I *can* load another toon I *didn't* screw up, save that one as Default, and then load it! Thanks guys! =D
(yes, why read the entirety of the post above me before coming to that conclusion. I'm off to get my morning coffee. Thanks again) -
Is there? I've made an unholy mess of mine, and have tried to recreate the default with no luck. Is there a quick and easy way to reset the Chat window to it's default settings? Thanks. =)
-
I hope this hasn't been asked yet. I've looked and found nothing to answer my question, but I hope I'm not repeating anything.
I have an SS/WP Brute that is as close to what I want for my main, but I don't like that, as a "Villain", he has to use Patron Powers. When I migrate to being a Hero will I be able to access the Ancillary Powers? If I am at a high enough level when I've had to take a Patron Power, will we be given respecs when we go fully from Villain to Hero (and vise versa)?
Or will our prayers to the Devs finally be answered and we get SS for Scrappers? ;-) -
So, in anticipation of Going Rogue's new graphic updates, I am upgrading my video card. Now, rationally I know that 1 gb is not significantly better, generally speaking, than having 512 on a card, other than to have More Power™ (insert Tim Allen's More Power grunt/laugh here). Still, I'd like to know. What's the max texture size in CoX? I think I may have perhaps read somewhere something about more vram being necessary for higher AA settings (currently mine is a x8, and if I use Tweak CoH to bump it to x16 it chugs). So, thoughts? Opinions? Pie? :-)

Yeah, Windowed Mode doesn't help. Oh well, looks like I'm S.O.L., I suppose. =\

Is there a way to get a Yahoo widget to be in front of the game? I have a clock that I want to use so I can see the time, but even after setting it to stay on top of other windows, it won't stay on top of the game. Any suggestions, ideas, etc.? Are there CoX specific widgets for the game? Thanks. =)

re: SS for Scrappers:
Please?
Pretty please?
Pretty please with sugar on top? And whipped cream, and a cherry??
(Please)^100?
Thank you.
(P.S.: How would one double-stack Rage? The only way I could imagine would be at the higher levels, where one would actually need something like that (say, to fight AVs and such).) -
SS for Scrappers. It's only fair if the other melee ATs get it (except for stalkers because, they're stalkers).
-
Thanks for the feedback. It really isn't about Tank v. Brute, but which would be more satisfying as a damage dealer. I have to tell you, I hate Fury. Forever to build up, instantly cools, but oh well.
I'll tell you what though, if the devs ever make SS a Scrapper set, they'll have me for life (Guys? You reading this?).
-
I want to play an SS/Inv (or SS/WP) Scrapper, but since they don't exist (yet?), I have a choice between the two ATs that do have SS. So, do I go with a Tank who's already a hero or a Brute who I can import from Red Side when Going Rogue releases?
Thanks! -
I am playing a Brute and have Hasten and Rage. I have Hasten set to auto-fire with the Ctrl+Click method, but is there a way to auto-fire Rage, too? I'm frequently forgetting about it, and just want both to fire off automatically so I can concentrate on beating up my targets. Thanks!

Hm. Omega Drivers, huh? Well, I'm not having any problems, and I'm getting reasonably good framerates with the suggestions posted. Should I apply these Omega Drivers, give that you don't fix what's not broken?
P.S.: I have an 8600 GT. -

Calling it charity work makes it sound like it's going to a good cause. Frankly I see this more as thinly veiled greed. I'd have been much more willing to do something, if it hadn't seemed misleading in the first place.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hm, I guess the word "charity" does seem a little misleading, and I apologize for that. I didn't mean for charity like that, just being charitable.
As for being greedy, I didn't mean that, either. It's just that, insofar as talent goes, I have none, but still would love to see the art. That and I have less money than talent.
Well, after opening up this can of worms I'm going to go hide in a corner and hope this thread just fades into obscurity. I'm sorry, I never meant to offend. -
Yeah, that's kind of the thing. I failed to put it in the original post (bad Rick!), but I'm broke and don't have the money for art, but I *do* want it. Seems I'll just have to wait until I get that said cash in hand, huh?
Still, if anyone's out there (he said on bended knee)...
