English...

... et je parlez un peu de Francais

The best way I've found to learn a language is to immerse yourself in it. My French always improves each time I'm over there, but gets worse when I'm not using it every day.

German (native)
English (love it! My vocabulary is good but I don't get to speak as much as I'd like)
French (Acceptable vocabulary, so reading is mostly okay. Speaking or understanding depends on the situation)
Spanish (very basic vocabulary, no grammar at all)
Welsh (still working on pronounciation, no vocabulary)

I know a little sign language and can say 1 - 20 in French. :P

Swedish and English.

I can understand most of german, norwegeigian(how the f do you spell it?) and danish.

I'm also quite adept at cursing in finnish! Perkele!

I speak/read/write English (more or less), just about enough German to survive and some 6502 Assembler.

I used to be ok at comprehending French but that's a long time ago and I never could speak or write it past cursing la famille Bertillon (or whatever the accursed family was in the text book).

Do American/Canadian English and Australian/Kiwi English count as separate languages? I think I may have picked some of those up from British TV stations.

And that's the problem - the people I've met on several trips to Germany and Austria all wanted to get in some English practice so I never got to practice my rusty German.

Of course their English was far better than my German. It's quite humbling hearing a German apologise for their poor English language skills before delivering a lengthy talk about economics/politics/quantum mechanics/etc that most reasonably well educated Brits probably couldn't follow...

Languages! I like languages.
I am a native German speaker, use English frequently, have learned French and Latin in school (although I would have to freshen up some of my vocabulary to be able to engage in any serious conversation... not that I have met any native Latin speakers recently mind you).
On top of that I know bits and pieces of many other languages that might or might not be enough to save me from starvation or some similar fate in the appropriate country.

I did try to learn Italian a while ago but gave up.

Oh, yes and I'm quite proficient in gibberish especially when I get up in the morning.

English is my native language but half the time I can't speak that properly

I can swear in Welsh and know a few other words, Cwtch being my fav!

I've got a bit of French locked away in my head from my school days but to say it is sketchy is an understatement

I doubt it counts but I know a bit of medical terminology from my work :S

I'm very jealous of people who can speak multiple languages, I've just never had the ear/tongue for it

Everybody knows the strongest curse word of the world Its perkele and with hard R-letter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xuv9RVss_Y (clip from old movie Crazy Finland, dude says something like goddamnthatsurethingperkelegoddamnsurething...) Yeah I know we curse a lot and not use beeps or blurs on TV.

Perkele ancient name of pagan finnish god and means devil at present but original meaning is one of strongest ancient god of pagan age here. We had many gods at those times like Ukko the overgod. Actually word ukko means very old man. Nobody knows his real secret name but Perkele is one possibility.

English, and a little bit of Swedish from my time there, as well as some German words and phrases - I'd like to have learnt some Finnish too, because it sounds like something the lovechild of Legolas and Gimli would speak - it looks and sounds very awesome and fantasy-ish

Speaking of finnish, I had quite a fun time trying to explain my foreign colleagues the differences between some of the finnish words that sound and look similiar.

For example words such as;
muuta = other/else
muuttaa = to change
muta = mud
mutta = but
mutaa = mud (partitive form of the word, so technically not a different word)

Considering how much Latin goes into medical terminology, it should count.

I'm just waiting if someone says something at saami language.

There is very special area on most northern part of Europe called Lapland. That's northern part of Finland, Sweden, Norway and littlebit of Russia where lives saami people. They are like north american indians and they have own very special languages. Some of saami languages have already died and forgotten but there's still people who speak some saami languages as natives.

Traditionally they were nomads who lives with herding reindeers but they have internets and all at present.

It souds very different that any other in europe.

You'ld be suprised at the increase in welsh speakers in the last few years. Over penarth/dinas powys side, i'ld say the majority of people here are able to ALMOST speak fluent welsh. Took me back quite a bit because like you said, i too was under the impression hardly anybody spoke a word of welsh.

Now the welsh national anthem . . . . . . that i am ashamed to say to not have a clue about Except the

gwlad . . .. gwladddddddddd

part hehe

Mandarin Chinese (native)
English
Japanese (not formally-learned)
Bahasa Indonesia

In order of fluency. Weirdly enough, I'm able to communicate fairly well in all four languages, but I am mostly incapable of speaking anything else.
