  1. SW: The Old Republic has 'stims' - these are one use consumables that buff a specific characteristic on your toon. These, however, don't (as far as I've seen) drop - they can only be purchased from stores.

They work diffirently from CoH inspirations: You can only have one active stim effect at a time - of any type - and they don't stack (although you can carry as many as will fit your inventory). They also last longer - 60 minutes (although if you're defeated, they'll expire).
  2. Thanks for organising Kallandra, it was a good weekend, and it was nice to finally put faces to some of the names I've met in game over the years.

I even ventured onto Union on Sunday, but managed to survive

Good show, I should be able to get The Square Peg by about 6pm. Time will tell if I have the endurance to last the night though

See you there. Mine's a diet tonic water
  4. Hey All

Just planning ahead for the weekend - as mentioned, I'm travelling up on the Friday. There was mention of perhaps a meet up in a pub on the Friday evening - is that still a plan ?

I've got to squeeze in gym / training sessions throughout the weekend as well, so just trying to get my faff together.
  5. Hotel and Train booked. Travelling up on Friday afternoon, there for the whole weekend.

I was going to drive, but took one look at Birmingham's roads and decided it was probably a better idea not to let my road rage loose on that network

    XP Mechanics

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.

Guess it was combination of things really: The large number of players increased the defeat rate, giving me less time to target; It definitely seems like we had maxed out some kind of spawn cap for the raid; and my playstyle on that toon needs to adjust for the raid mechanics.

I'll bear in mind that tab/attack/tab/attack tip Aggelakis, so thanks for that.

    Cheers all !

    XP Mechanics

    Howdy All

Over on Defiant, we run a weekly MSR on Sunday evenings (BST). It's a great event, and all good XP. I've taken a handfull of toons from the mid 40's right up to level 50 through these.

However, I'm beginning to notice that the amount of XP I'm getting varies from week to week, and I'm trying to think about what could be causing this.

Case in point: My Dark/Dark blaster - on a MSR a week or so ago, he jumped 3 levels (44 - 47). Roll forward to last night, and it was just half a level - and that's on a double XP weekend as well. I was hoping to hit the big 50 on last night's raid...

I'm trying to think about why the amount of XP would be significantly different from week to week, and it's highlighted the fact that despite over 7 years in this game, I still don't fully understand some of the basic mechanics

I was hoping some of the folks around here would be able to give some pointers on this....

Last night's MSR was running from one of the biggest leagues I've seen for a while: 5 teams, >35 toons (Non DxP weekends can sometimes see only 3 teams on the MSR). Would the higher number of toons taking part possibly mean that the potential XP is spread thinner ? Does the raid have some kind of maximum scaling ? (We did seem to spend a lot of time waiting between waves of Ritki)

There was quite a wide range of levels on the league: Ranging from toons in their mid 20's right up to a handfull of Incarnates. Would this have had an affect on the potential XP ?

As a dark/dark blaster, I only have a couple of AoE powers, and two of them are close range - so I'm largely getting my XP from single target foes. I don't know if this makes a difference or not, but it seems like it does. Especially last night, when foes were being taken out so quickly, that I often didn't have time to get more than one shot off myself. Would this have been a factor ? On my fire blaster, the ever awesome Rain of Fire meant that I could affect more foes. Even if I only got a smaller 'contribution' XP from the multiple foes, it still adds up.

I'm not trying to vent here, or spit the dummy out of the cot. Honest!. I'm just trying to understand the game a bit more (after 7 years, I thought it would be usefull to start learning ) Sure, I was bit miffed that XP was so low, especially on a DxP w/end, but I know this isn't really a problem at all - this is, after all, only a game *

Not looking to start a b***h/moan thread about the amount of XP over the DxP weekend, just hoping to get a better understanding on how to work with the game, so I know how to better approach the next one...

Any pointers for this duffer would be welcome !

    Cheers

  8. Awesome, good show!

I already have the time off work arranged, so I'm up for this. I'll be there for the weekend, most likely will be heading up Friday afternoon.

As mentioned previously, I'll need a PC, as my own isn't portable.

Thanks again for organising this Kallandra. I look forward to finally meeting some of the Defiant legends in person
  9. Awesome! But at the same time, dang! : I was saving my stipend of points for Beam Rifle. I've a couple of concept toons for both power sets.

    Dang, decisions, decisions...
  10. Thanks for the upate Kallandra,

As someone who has spent a fair bit of time in and out of hospital themself, I know how stressfull it can all be, so kudos to you for taking this on as well!

I'm the wrong end of the country to be able to offer any practical help, but if there's anything I can do to assist, then let me know
  11. Hi All

Apologies for the thread necromancy here, but just wondering if anyone had heard from Kallandra of late, and whether or not this year's meet is still going ahead ?

Still keen to attend this year, but need to start planning my schedule for September, and just want to confirm if I need to keep the weekend free for the meet up.

Apologies if I've missed something elsewhere, I don't always keep up with all the variant discussion mediums for this game (duffer that I am!)

    Excellent !

... although I'm worried that with all the cool stuff in this issue, it's this item that pleases me the most

Right, it looks like that I won't be able to make Team Dark for the next couple of weeks. I'll have to either catch up with you guys in between, or wait for you to get to the same level as one of my existing higher level dark toons.

Finding it really hard to commit to any regular time slots at the moment (according to several exes commitment has never been one of my strong points ). These days, I'm just logging in as and when I have the free time.

I'll try to keep up with the progress, but I'm sure you can cope without my veteran noob skillz (7+ years and still learning )
  14. Don't get me started on the frequency of the Respec TFs as WSTs...

I guess there must be some reason why they only select from the same handfull of TFs (although I can't imagine what that is). Perhaps it's a perception thing as well, although May's running order is almost identical to April's.

Although in a more paranoid moment, I note that there's no official discussion thread for the WST thread. Perhaps they know that we'd be on there whining about the repetition

    Hi All

Right, I've got two days or so to catch up with everyone else.

What level did you all get to on Sunday evening after I had to bail ?

I'm determined to last the duration one of these days
  16. Just as long as you put the camera in a better place this time (ie no one sitting in front of it ), then good show!

Last year it was a struggle to hear what some of the speakers were saying - I think because you were reliant on ambient mics to pick up the sound in the room. Could you possibly look at perhaps including the panel microphones / PA feed in the USTREAM mix ? (I'm not sure what kit you have to hand, but I know this can be done with enough wires, solder and gaffer tape )
  17. Cool, well like say - even more levels of awesome

Thanks for the confirmation guys !
  18. Awesome. Just plain awesome

I don't think I've been this excited about a game update / change for some time now. At long last, some more tech centric costume parts for my largely tech based list of toons.

Are the wings animated ? - It looks like they 'fold up' when not in flight ? - If so, even more levels of awesome!

(apologies if everyone else already knows the answer )

Sounds good. I will hopefully be able to offer a better commitment to this moving forward. If we're off to First Ward, I take it everyone got to around level 20 yesterday ?

Just checking to see what ground I need to make up over the week!

    Superthemeteam

Hey all. Yet again, I had to bail on proceedings. Apologies for dropping out, but things were out of my hands.

Anyway, I hope things continued ok for the rest of evening. What level did you manage to get the team up to ?
  21. RoboTank

    Superthemeteam

Yep, running BST - as Riff mentions, it'll be some time around 8pm, so if my time zone juggling is correct, that's 3pm EST (I think, anyway )

One other thing to mention is that we're running the team blueside.

After faffing about with other things, I've managed to get Darkform (the previously mentioned Claws / Dark brute) to lvl15 now, so all ready for this Sunday. Hopefully I won't crash out too early this week...

My global is @RoboTank (duh!), feel free to contact me, or put a shout on Defiant Events (EU) channel

Hi Aumakua, yes the theme team started on Sunday (8th), just after the weekly MSR. We went for a Dark theme team - at least one of your power sets has to be a "dark" power. For instance, I rolled a Claws / Dark brute.

We're planning to run the same team again this Sunday. Keep a listen out on the Defiant Events (EU) channel for details nearer the time.

I seem to be saying this more often than I would like, but apologies for dissapearing earlier on.

Had great fun on this, and hopefully we'll be able to continue the team next Sunday. I got to level 12, hopefully I won't be too far behind everyone else next w/end (I can make up some levels in between if it helps)

Sunday should be good for me, dependant on the time. Evening and onwards suits me better, although I know there's already a lot that happens on a sunday evening.

I was thinking of a dark tank or meele type. Are we gonna level these up from 1, or a few levels in?

More importantly, where, and what time?
