Inspirations - Are they unique to CoH?
Champions has short term buffs that frequently drop from enemies, but they're not the kind you store and use at your leisure. They get picked up when you get near them and immediately apply. Which is preferable to me, as I hate managing consumables.

In Star Trek Online in space, you can pop a Weapons Battery, which provides a boost to weapon power for a brief period, and in a way is both a Rage and Catch a Breath. On the ground you get Power Cells, which provides a direct damage boost. You also have hyposprays for health, and shield batteries for, well, shields. Space also gets shield batteries, but there aren't any consumables that will repair your hull (your bridge officers do have abilities that do that, though). Engine batteries can sort of boost a ship's defense indirectly (defense is based on how fast your ship moves, among other things). But there's nothing that will boost accuracy or resistance, and there's certainly nothing like an Awaken or Break Free.
Goodbye, I guess.

Well, it's been awhile since I played it, but I think Dynasty Warriors Online has similar temporary buffs to the non MMO games in its series - which would be akin to damage and damage resistance buffs (Accuracy and Defense don't really have an analogue there, I think).

Awhile ago, actually. I'm not even certain it's still running. I tried it because I'm a fan of the series, but I didn't care for the system it was using - as I recall, you had to level up your weapon skill anew every time you played a stage.

DW 3 and DW 4 were my favorites, DW5 was ok, there rest was meh compared to the rest but ok overall.

Out of the entire series, I'd have to say Warriors Orochi 3 is my favourite - but I have a catastrophic attraction to crossovers.

I enjoyed them all to varying degrees, as well as the Samurai Warriors series, and Warriors Orochi series. I even played Dynasty Warriors Gundam 1 and 3, enjoyed the Fist of the North Star game and am looking forward to its sequel (assuming it gets a US release on the 360), and was disappointed that the 360 version of Legends of Troy was cancelled for the US for no apparent reason.

SW: The Old Republic has 'stims' - these are one use consumables that buff a specific characteristic on your toon. These, however, don't (as far as I've seen) drop - they can only be purchased from stores.
They work diffirently from CoH inspirations: You can only have one active stim effect at a time - of any type - and they don't stack (although you can carry as many as will fit your inventory). They also last longer - 60 minutes (although if you're defeated, they'll expire).

The prototype stims last for 2 hours and through defeat.
There's also reusable stims, which, although the buff expires on defeat, they don't get used up, so you can simply reapply the stim after revival.
The problem is, both types of stims can only be crafted by someone with the biochem skill, and reusable stims flat out CANNOT be used by anyone who doesn't have the biochem skill level to craft it in the first place.
There's also medpacks, which act like green inspirations (and have had their usefulness so heavily nerfed) and adrenals/relics, which have a longer cooldown than duration.
I think its fairly safe to say that I've never seen another MMO(and I've played a LOT of them) where you could basically click 3-4 consumables and become an untouchable god for a minute or so. (of course, I've also never played a game where the dps classes commonly do 300-800% more damage than their base damage...

Now I haven't played many MMOs, very few actually, does any other MMO have short term self buffs that drop frequently? While Greens and Blues are analogous to health and mana potions and wakies are analogous to "rez at current location" are the others just tied to closely to our attack system to be duplicated anywhere else?
I was just trying to think of something truly unique about this game beyond the obvious and even though I never learned to use them frequently, they have come in handy from time to time, besides healing, recovery and rezing.
