Proliferation Suggestions
I have some proliferation suggestions and I'd like your thoughts on them. I wanted to roll a character a certain way and found out that I couldn't. Here are some of my suggestions:
Defender: Fire Blast (secondary) Thermal Radiation (primary) Scrapper: Ice Melee (primary) Energy Melee (primary) Thoughts? Any other powersets that haven't been proliferated already that you think should be? Discuss! |
The defender Primary and Secondary have been talked about on thier respective fourms and like you most want them and hope for a quick prolification.
If i wasnt so lazy i would post a link to where 1 of the devs said eventually all sets would be prolificated to thier counterpart but with GR comeing out i have a feeling the Prolifications of powersets will start to slow down to almost a hualt since AT's will no longer have a specific side like they currently do.
Dark Blast and Dark Manipulation for blasters.
Trick Arrowish secondary for blasters.
Martial Artsish secondary for blasters.
Dark Miasma for controllers.
Illusion Control for dominators.
Force Fields for corruptors.
Cold Domination for masterminds.
I am 100% in support for proliferation of any kind which will provide powersets to ATs that currently dont have them.
My personal suspicion regarding Going Rogue is that part of the reasoning behind this expansion was to speed up (sorta) the whole proliferation process. Fire Blast is a perfect example. Your choices for Fire Blast on the Hero-Side is currently Blasters only. Many folks (including myself) that play only hero-side cannot play a fire-blast Defender, but after GR we can roll up a Fire Corruptor and take it Hero-Side. They could still give Fire Blast to Defenders, but I suspect that we may see less proliferation after GR and more NEW SHINY POWERSETS.
Given the choice between a Powerset that is proliferated or a totally NEW powerset, I will take something new every time. I also suspect that they (Devs) have determined that this has a greater chance of attracting new subscribers than proliferation. But I have been wrong before. Just as an example, I held onto a character name for over 2 years waiting for "Shields" to come about. When they finally announced that Shields was being added, I reactivated my account not long afterwards.
What Powerset do I want to see: STAVES (Polearms, etc...)
For Proliferations I am still waiting for DARK for Controllers as well.

More debuff sets for MMs such as Rad and Sonic are things I would like to see, granted they would need some reworking possibly, but I still want them. Ice Armor and melee for scraps, Super Strength as well would be cool. SR for Tanks would be awsomesauce to get you to softcap w/o any IOs.

I still want to make a ____ /fire blast defender, and I still want to make an Ice Melee/ _____ scrapper.
Though I don't ever think we'll see Super Strength on a Scrapper or a Stalker for conceptual reasons. Same reason why I don't think we'll ever see Ninjitsu on a Scrapper secondary.
Also, was there any specific reason why Brutes don't have Broad Sword, and yet Stalkers have them?

With that said, I would love a kin/fire def, but i would understand if the dev's gave each AT everything the others have within reason.
I'd like to see some kind of psy blast for corruptors.
What do you think is more likely, blaster or defender version? I'd rather have blaster but I doubt it'll happen.
Martial Arts and Broadswords for Brutes!
Illusion for Doms and some sort of Dark Control and Dark Blast for Doms as well.

Tanks: Ice armor and melee
Controllers: Illusion control
Stalkers: Ninjitsu
Masterminds: Poison
The majority of the ATs already don't have any unique sets (and blasters having fire blast, defenders having dark miasma isn't unique since corruptors get both - you have to include cross-faction with GR around the corner). So unless you want the devs to retroactively pull powersets from various ATs to restore uniqueness (which I don't think would go over very well!), that particular goal is already busted. At this point, there really isn't any reason not to go the rest of the way and proliferate everything that fits (subject to balance tweaking if needed, of course).

Ill for doms
Cold for MM's.
Ninjitsu for Scraps.
Fire Melee for Stalkers.
Thermal and Fire for defs.
The rest of the sets I'm personally not to concerned about at this point, but I support those that may want them.
The first three on the list I'm more interested in than any of the new powersets (including the two that have already been early released).

For conceptual reasons, I honestly don't see Martial Arts happening for Brutes, and I don't see Ninjitsu happening for both Brutes and Scrappers.

Since this is a thread about it, I thought I might ask this question. Do people want proliferation over entirely (or even mostly) new sets? I'm of the thought that I would rather see new powers showing up more often than the same ones just being tweaked for a different AT. When ever I may take a break from the game or read about a new Issue and in it they announce that AT "A" will get existing set "B" I go "Meh" but even something mostly new gets my interest peaked (Like MM for blasters, not entirely new but some new things were slipped in there.)

Not all Brutes are angry inarticulate "SMASH"-ers.
Even if they were, there's nothing to stop them kicking people.
Many superstrong characters are not invulnerable, and rely on offensive use of their strength to fight (eg Sunspot from New Mutants)
Some can turn invisible or be stealthy.
Picking an archetype (or even powerset) is a game mechanic decision and has little bearing on your character's concept or personality.
I'd prefer all ATs get all powersets of the appropriate type eventually. I don't see what ATs have to limit power choices. Stalkers are unique compared to scrapper/brute/tanks so some changes have to be made for Hide, Placate and Assassin Strike but not so much for anyone else.
Doms and Controllers should share all control sets. All Buff/Debuff sets should be shared to all ATs with Buff/Debuff.
It's been 6 years. More variety is the best hope for survival. I don't expect this level of proliferation to happen quickly, I'd just like to see it happen at some point. A few per Issue would be nice.

One thing they would have to do is raise the Defender dmg mod for melee.
I think currently it is at 0.55, so maybe 0.65 at least (preferrably 0.75).
Just think of all the fun combinations.
