Im kinda curious now that these have been brought back into the light cuse i got my Black Scorpion statue that came with the Pre Order of CoH and im kinda curious as to how many others their are floating around. Makes me think these could be worth some money to the right people or if thiers few enought if the Devs would be interested in "Giveing away" an item pack of your choice if you mail them then statue.

Early this mornin. i counted 3 VR's and 8 R's. i gave up once i got all my T4's slotted and when i started i only had a T4 in my Alpha and in Interface and nuthing was slotted in Lore. Yep i went from nuthin to capped out on my Incarnate slots. but i was spending my E-merits and Astrals on Thread conversions cuse i couldnt get a uncommon or a common to drop to save my life.
I run a lvl 50 Fire/kin Troller slotted with IO's(for Def and Recharge, im runnin perma hasten and am able to use Flashfire every other mob or so in normal play). When i started the trials about 2 1/2 days ago i had nuthin slotted. So your milage may very. -
Quote:Hate to steal your steam but thiers already very effieciant Blaster farmers out thier and it involves alot more +regen compared to anything ya could probably think of(ok mostly Recharge and +regen but still) its an Archery/Mental Manipulation blaster(ya i said it Archery) why might ya ask? well with enough Rech from sets and slotted the *nuke* can be used every mob and with Drain Psy any dmg you do take is almost instantly regened with little to no worry's and if ya slot a bit of ranged def you can hover farm witch makes it even safer then running a Fire/Kin troller since the only worry you might see is the dropping in for Drain Psy but then again only the first mob will give ya trouble but its off to the races after that and i know pre preatoria thier where a ton of Archery/MM blasters runnin around farmin since it was a relativly easy*if not trivial task* for the blasters to do.Alright, here we go.
Can we make a blaster farmer? Not just one that farms a bit but keeps their day job, but a full-time farmer that give a brute a run for their money.
I recently made a brute SS/FA/MU farmer, he is an absolute engine of destruction, but instead of satiating my appetite for destruction, it left me to a yearning to bring high-powered, modern farming to other ATs.
So first lets look at what is probably the best/fastest farming method, a lot of well known and common sense stuff that is going to sound redundant here but I want to set the foundation:
SS/FA/MU brute farming:
FA gives a ton of fire resist for "free" and the brutes resistance cap is equal to tanks(90%), With an AE mission of all fire damage and a little fire def in sets, the brute is all but invulnerable, this allows the brute to build for all damage and recharge with their set and power choices.
This is the current build I use for my brute:

You can see it has:
- 95% recharge
- 47% fire def With Vengeance(I always farm with lowbies in tow, either paying or friends, thus I always have a target for vengeance. )
- 90% Fire resist
A big deal: All of the brutes attacks have a taunt built into them, this prevents mobs from running away even while standing in burn or at extremely low health. For all of the brutes advantages, this may be one of the most significant. The only way I can see this being overcome is being mimicking brute taunt, and the only way I see to do that is: Provoke.
There, I said it! I think there may be a reason to use provoke with a blaster and also that it could form the cornerstone of an efficient farming strategy.
But, I am not sure if provoke exactly replications the affects of brute auto-taunt, can somebody confirm this?
If so, I will proceed in much greater detail, but there is no point if provoke will not replace brute-voke. -
Anyone else starting to notice that use to the devs would post and have some what of a personallity. Now though...... they look like computer generated responses the GM's in game email you with that get you no where. If and when someone on the top reads the fourms..... We could use someone to post that has a personallity, That can get mad or can be happy or can be frusterated. Heck call Castle up and ask him some of those questions and as hes tellin ya his thoughts record that and post it here. Least then we could give some "constructive feedback".

Quote:If you do write the guide make sure to add in a temp powers section. By this i mean describe the major temps that are helpful and list thier usefulness from a basis of 1-5.Gratz! Glad you enjoyed it! My one and only failure, the very first time I did it, it took my team about two hours before they gave up. It becomes a lot easier the second time you run it
. I'm in the process of typing up a much more detailed, more verbose guide to the Apex unless someone else beats me to it.
I.E. Hvas- Extremly useful on Apex since it DOES NOT take dmg from the blue flame of doom. Makeing Immobin BM worth it since Hvas can stand and dish out dmg without worry. -

Quote:This....Fail...... When other scrappers get locked down my /SR scrapper keeps goin cuse of double stacked PB thats 1 of the perks to it being a click instead of a toggle. Specially helpful to those lower level toons who dont have soft capped def and when mezes do chain and get treu the def the extra Mez resist from PB helps negate the effect and keep ya on your toes. So again...... This idea of makein it a toggle=fail. No not Fail but WoW Fail. No not WoW Fail...... SoE FAIL.I wouldn't mind AD and PB be turned into toggles. Sure, that'd make them a little more end-heavy for lower level toons, but inherent stamina would offset that some and I think being able to have full time mez protection before SOs would be worth the trade. Plus, PB insists on trying to keep itself near perma double stacked on my SR toon, which not only is breaking my attack chains constantly (largely when I'm tossing AoEs out and my queued attacks get cancelled because my target dies), but it's also eating a ton more endurance than a toggle ever would.

Quote:The trick i used to solo him on my controller(and it might work for others) is....Just ran the new one on a DP/NRG blaster and had no issues. I didn't find the old one very hard and was actually concerned about these changes, but it is doable. I will try on a defender and see, but I don't think it will be a problem.
As my old Chief used to say....utilize your resources...there is a ton of "toys" in the game you can use against him. Use them.
aggro him out into the hall way out of site of his clones, Immob him thier, kill off all clones and let them respawn all the while keepin him immobed in the hall. After that even with his clones respawned they didnt buff him and when they died thier buffs faded off him and once all 4 (just kill each one once)where down 2 Immobs and 2 Holds with a Seismic smash and he was down. Before that i had layed into him for nearly 15 minds without even scratchin his hp. -
Quote:Nope no real way to tell who youve beatin and who you havent. Best way i know of to keep track of em is write it down. I used my Bio link to keep track of who i beat untill i got my badge then removed it from my Bio and went on my way with my accolade.I have a feeling I know the answer to this question already, but I'll throw it out there anyway. I've been working on the portal jockey accolade and did it in a very unorganized way. I have everything except 2 praetorian AVs. Problem is, I'm not sure which two. Is there anyway to find out which ones I've defeated?

Ok first let me say..... Mids is jacked up or i would post my build.
ok now to explain my build and the goals i can achieve with it in its current setting. Its a Fire/Kin Btw
Right now i have Perma Hasten perma EE and 41% def S/L(would like more but would require some alterations and would likely change my build in a way i wouldnt want.)
Now for the question since it seems to be on top of everyones list atm. Now i looked treu some of the trees and more Rech would be nice but with Perma Hasten and EE im lookin at enuff to cover my rech. Acc/Def ya i could use a lil more of that to put me at the soft cap. End Reduc ya i could use that since i eat my blue bar like im a druggy and its my drug o choice. Dmg, reallly i thought about this 1, im a Fire/Kin so being at the dmg cap is a common sight so i think i got plenty here.
Any suggestions and im goin to try and get mids up and runnin but im likely goin to have to reinstall windows to fix alot of other stuff as well.
So ending this with the usual..... Thoughts? Suggestions? -
Quote:Wait your mad cuse you have to use 2-4 attacks to kill a mob and use BU to kill tougher mobs? My Purpled out F/K/Stone and many will contest to (not mine but in general) are some of the better Farming toons out thier because of sheer dmg output. Now with that said i jump in (get ready my chains about to explode your head cuse 2-4 buttons was to many before now your goin to freak) Fulcrum Shift,Fire cages,Transferance, Transfusion, Fissure, Firecages. Thats with HotFeet goin and 3 fire imps out. And thats an ever mob chain. For AV's it gets a bit longer and things get shifted depending on what i need done atm. So play your Kat/WP cuse post 32 your goin to be loveing the orange numbers. As for your fav toon was a MF Sorc in D2.....THIS ISNT D2.....things dont just melt like that in this game. Im sure some of the numbers guys could crunch chains for ya that would increase your dmg with just SO slotting. Heck if your worried about infl and top end builds Kat/WP is probably one of the top end scrapper builds.Yeah i have a Katanna/willpower at level 20, but at the moment he is kinda boring to play. That's one reason i wanted to find a build i could get up to 50 with that would also be great at farming, that way i don't have to level a second character up to 50 if i want to farm so i get inf for alts etc.
The main reason though is the fun i have when i farm in rpgs, and if i had a solid farming build, I'm sure i would not be as bored.
Katanna/willpower as it stands i use gamblers cut followed by divine avalanch if i go single target, if i have multiple surrounding me, its gamblers cut, divine avalanch then flashing steel and lotus drops, so right now its pretty much 2 to 4 skills used unless i feel like using build up on tougher mobs.
don't judge someone by what they have fun doing, unless its morally wrong. and right now i don't see farming as morally wrong D:
its just a second layer of fun i will add after hitting 50, and i mainly solo arcs so i can revel in the story. but sometimes i feel like joining a party too.
but there's no reason to get uptight over my playstyle -
Quote:With a perma Hasten build F/K with 10 FS's you can get 251.2 points of dmg before enemy resist. Minus Softcapped Def Unless your really shooting for it. Compared to a Perma Hasten Softcapped F/K/Stone doing a 251.8 with fissure at 10 FS's.Ya afraid so, Dread is right. The recharges are felt on my dm/sd. Since I'm slotted for def, my recharge is not too great. Maybe with enough recharge,it might actually help enough to put you at damage cap after one group. I'll run a build with my current F/k and see if it would be worth it.
So i can see it becomeing a alternative but Fissure still recharges 3 seconds faster(not aracna time) then Dark Oblit with the recharge im running (around 170%) so Stone will still be king imo due to the extra .6 that will round up instead of Dark Oblits .2 that rounds down. -
Quote:The 2 sets your useing give a 10% global recharge bonus, yes. However PA is on a 4 min recharge. At ED cap recharge (99.08 or 3 recharge IO's) itll recharge in 2 mins and 3 seconds and should be at 2 mins recharge with 10% global from the 2 sets. the 8 seconds is probably factoring in some lag your experinceing. So in general 10% wont really be noticable unless its an already fast rechargeing power and to get perma PA i think you need somewhere around 205% recharge. So keep stacking 5% and the LotG 7.5% and purple IO's to get thier to get it to recharge in just under .8 seconds and youll probably need to get it down to under 8 seconds to compensate for lag on your end.Hello friends. I'm not sure if "global" is the right term here, but here's my question: I have a level 50 illusion/radiation controller, and I'm just starting to outfit him with some of the more inexpensive IO sets. I'm using one of Local Man's excellent slotting guides as a basis. I won't have perma-anything for a while but any improvement will be useful, since I've been slotting mostly normal IO's and even some SO's until now.
I've got 5 Doctored Wounds in my heal power, and the set bonuses are lit up, with the 5-piece bonus being a 5% recharge reduction on all my powers. I also managed to get 4 of the Dark Watcher's set into Radiation Infection, and the 4-piece bonus is also 5% recharge reduction on "all powers". But how do I know if I am actually getting any reduction? When I mouse over Phantom Army, it shows an enhanced recharge of 2 minutes 10 seconds, which is exactly what it showed before I slotted either set. OK, so...maybe it doesn't display on the power, I thought. So I just did a test with a cell phone stopwatch (not completely scientific, but oh well) and PA took a good 2 minutes and 8 seconds to recharge. That, to me, is essentially the same as it was before I slotted either of the IO sets. I certainly do not appear to be getting a 10% reduction.
I'm new to the IO set business so maybe I am missing something? I did all of this in Steel Canyon, I was not in combat, does that make a difference? I just want to know that I'm on the right path, before spending millions more in influence. Is there any in-game indicator to show that set bonuses are working? Thanks in advance. -
thats what im asking. Is the effort to get the IO recipe worth it in the end will the -20% resist to enemies increase dmg enuff outside of FS to be noticable.
-
Now with the changes in i18 im looking over my F/K/Stone and specificly at HotFeet. Now the changes im mentioning at that of the PvP IO's and the ability to purchase them with Hero Merits. Now im not going to post a build just asking a general question on effectiveness. What besides requiering a few less FS's would a Fury of the Gladiators:Chance for Res Debuff do for HotFeets output. Would it even matter with capped damage or would it increase HotFeets effectiveness and how would it do while exemplered below FS? Would it effectively work to resist all targets or would if even matter with the way mobs melt anyway? I ask because im tempted to grab 1 up and slot it but without knowing the effects im kinda holding off on it untill i can get a possitive idea on how well the slot would work or if i could slot something else and get a better effect.

awhile back thier was a WS guide to 'danceing' Its the same guide just more in depth as dechs and the guide i followed when i made my WS back before IO's where released. You use all the forms to thier advantage getting buffs from all the forms and once your buffed to the gills you can stick to 1 form or the other if you so desire, although once you relize the potential of 'danceing' you will be switching forms so much you wont remember if you rolled him as a human a nova or a dwarf when ya first started and he will make your other toons weep with desire. But that was just my experience with my WS and when i play her i always feel more powerful compared to other AT's since i can do things that the other AT's cant do.

Quote:I run a Purpled out F/K/Stone soft capped S/L and hardly notice mezzes however tonight i ran the 2nd Respec trial and noticed on the 3rd and 4th mishes respectivly that i was getting mezzed quite a bit but it wasnt anything i wasnt prepared for had 2 rows of BF's.Hey - long time reader, first time post
. I've been playing CoX for a long time now, have several lvl 50s (only one lvl 50 troller though - an ill/rad). I have a lvl 42 fire/kin that I enjoy playing, but have been getting very frustrated with how often I get mezzed! I'm having a great time fighting the scum out there, then I get stunned/held/looked at funny, and my toggles drop. Soon after I end up faceplanting if I'm not careful.
I still feel like this is a powerful toon, but that big gaping mez hole gets me frustrated. I never had that much of a problem with my ill/rad (my only other high lvl troller).
What do you other fire/kins out there do to help vs. that? Do I just need to suck up and lrn2play?
Thanks!
To give ya a prespective i soloed the first 2 mishes while my team was still standing at the entrance to the mish trying to gether themselves. Occasionally i died but was putting out just as much dmg as the scrappers were and was eating alpha strikes like they where nothing. So know your opponent and what youll be fighting and you shouldnt have any problems at all. What i guess im getting at is once your S/L soft capped you shouldnt have to worry about much and always plan ahead so you dont have to worry about things when they happen like being mezzed. -
if its not taken NoNeckNick if my memory serves its from one of Larry the Cable Guy's jokes.

Quote:See this is what happened to me, only i used the tag at the end to get back on....Funny thing is i havent restarted my comp or my router and my internet never went out(i work nights and was off the night it happened so i had plenty of time to serf the fourms) at about 4am this mornin i launched CoHUpdater.exe and without so much as even a pause it launched CoH no problem. So i wonder if thier was some error assosiatred with the server last night that woulda caused this issue and all that was needed was a reset of thier hardware since even freedom is dead at 5-6am i doubt anyone woulda noticed a quick reset to anything.Had the same thing happen last night. although I wasn't making a pyrimid, and I sent in a ticket (silly me) and they had me do a Game Advisor report which I was like... "ok!?!"
EVEN though, I had told them I could get on the test server, they figured out, it can't be on their end... it's like me going to a mechanic and telling them my car will not startup and them telling me me "did you check the washer fluid?" I did try the -project coh switch but still got connecting # for about 5 hours. I tried logging on this morning and it got on...
so pretty much, the best I can expect for them will be "Ooops" -
Quote:Yes but ive never had this problem before is thier fix for this besides the command or is this all thier is?You mean the updater won't connect? You can bypass the updater with the command C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cityofheroes.exe -project coh (C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\cityofheroes.exe -project coh on 64bit windows, use the Run dialog, accessible by pressing Win+R).

I was makeing a pyrimid(ya dont ask just know it consisted of over 300 of the mossy blocks large style at the time it happened). CoH crashes no error message, no type here with what you where doing so we can diagnose this box, Nuthin just crash to desktop everything else runs fine but CoH will not connect. Any Ideas as to what i did and what i can do in order to fix this?

Mine did the same thing if i remember correctly thought its not a patch more of a checksum to make sure all the files where delievered safely to your comp and to make sure nothing is off with the version on your machine compared to the version on live.
