So, Gamestop's computers have September for the release of Going Rogue.

Please Ocho, say it ain't so.

No, but there will generally be better options at higher levels.

No. The proc disappears after lv20. They are still worth frankenslotting with. The enhancement portion (16% damage/16% recharge) still functions. If you're looking for better enhancement numbers or set bonuses, you'll look elsewhere.

Not a bad idea, IMO, a bonus "hook" to attract new players, but the limited "life" of the enhancements means they don't hurt long time players. Have to admit, it's a pretty good idea.

Amazon still says July. Prior to this morning, Gamestop also said July. Gamestop's website does not have a release day.

Not happy. At all.

Two things...

1:

Quote:
Prepurchase

Only the separate City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion will be available for prepurchase. The Complete Collection will not be available for prepurchase, nor are there any incentives for preordering it at retail.

2: Gamestop aren't in Europe.

Fix please.

sheesh. Whine whine whine.
By pre-ordering, you got to play with the sets early. That was YOUR CHOICE. FYI, I did not pre-order because I wasn't willing to spend extra. I'm patient. The free month of game time was more important to me than getting to use the sets early. And that was my choice.

Yes, but they also announced back then that there were going to be no bonuses for preordering at retail. They lied.

Same here.
And for that matter, I'm probably going to pre-order through the regular NCsoft site rather than take this promotion. I'm an established player, I have no real use for these weird mutant (not Origin) enhancements, and I'd rather my money go straight to the studio and publisher than have some of it siphoned off by middlemen/marketing partners.

No - at the time they wrote it, they're weren't aware that one retailer was going to suggest/ask for some in-game items as an exclusive.

And here we see that NCSoft can never win. People have been screaming bloody murder for marketing to do something to promote the game. Now we get that wish, with a major retailer and a peripheral seller getting involved, and all people can do so far is carp and whine.

Edit: To be fair, after reading more of the thread, not everyone is whining and some have actually acknowledged that Paragon Studios is taking steps to promote GR.

Granted, this is not a hard street date, I understand that. Nevertheless, it would be grand to know what the Devs are thinking.

I'm not asking for an exact date... but, could we know a month? The Devs put out "July" and it that's changed, fine, say so. Info being available from NCSoft websites and their retailers that varies from July, to Summer, to September (which is Fall I don't care which calender you're using) leads to speculation and confusion.

Please Ocho (et al), think of the children and throw us a bone here.

Well then they could've just not included that sentence if they weren't sure yet. That sentence probably tipped the scale for many people, and now they are erasing it.

A very good point, Rastafari-Man made a similar point when I was ranting to him earlier.

Indeed, the 12 month Vet reward (Sands of Mu or Ghost Slaying Axe) is much, much more helpful for a lowbie than these enhancements, not to mention if you have all thee Vet attacks.

Aaand purchased.

Thanks, NCSoft. You rock.

That is all.

While I'm more "on the fence" then on a specific side (BlackPebble passed his Charisma check with me), I think it's only fair to point out that they've explicitly stated that things changed. That they didn't have this plan in mind.

There's a whole subject of discussion called "The Philosophy of Language", and I believe one of the topics in that is "Can someone be lying when they, themselves, were sincere but did not know the truth?"

They contradicted themselves, sure. You are, however, obviously trying to get some mileage out of the word "Lie". It's that gambit that I'm challenging.

Uh oh, looks like a faulty move on Paragon Studios part. Do they not realize a huge player base of this game is college age people? September is around school time and my classes are going to be insane this fall. Good going Paragon, looks like I'm just going to not even bother picking Going Rogue up till at least December, maybe. Might as well play for one more month then allow my subscription to run out.

Did I mention, and I'm surprised no one mentioned this, that the temporary activation of a power included in the newbie enhancement can be seen as a precursor to the Incarnate System? Tell me, if the level cap is still going to be 50, how else would they go about it? Enhancement system. Looks like we're going to get a new power slot for each level and corresponding I.O.'s with a chance of incarnate power activation upon a successful strike of an attack. The release of this information pretty much confirms it in my book. Mark my words here people, logically it's the only way the Incarnate System is going to work within the confines of what the developers have already stated. Paragon Studios, stop giving us the run-around and concede to the fact that we guessed right on the Incarnate System!

I want to add that it's a cheap way to go about the system too. We're looking at a possibly corny type of secondary effect or power. I think we're going to be disappointed here unless the powers are awe inspiring in visuals and effect. You know my first inclination would be a transformation effect into a god or demon-like being a la Onimusha, if I were at the helm of the Incarnate System development team, but that's just me. At the least I expect it to rain hellfire when I hit that incarnate power.

One more afterthought. The new enhancements should sure as hell better not make current invention enhancements obsolete or have the new ones be a vast improvement over the current ones. There are going to be a lot of pissed off people if that is the case. It would just be so much time wasted on our current characters.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed here hoping that Going Rogue will deliver the goods.

Ah, you're psychic mastery of space and time allowed you to "see" the Devs in their meeting place deep within Mount Doom. Bravo.

Seriously, you never learn. Just because you assume you know something does not make it fact, and presenting it as often and loudly as you can doesn't make it so either.

yeah, the proc becoming useless is what kinda annoyed me...

I personally had the business mind to always give wiggle room. If you ever state something as a certainty then you best follow it up, hence why wiggle room is always a must in business these days!

But they were. They were sure they weren't going to offer anything for retailers.

They changed their minds. That's not lying. That's changing their minds. Perhaps Gamestop gave them an incentive that the marketing folks just couldn't turn down. (And Razer (the makers of the mousepad perk) putting in a lot of promos on their website isn't a bad thing at all...Razer is extraordinarily popular in the gaming realm.)

True. I guess I'm more annoyed by the lack of European love.

As I said in another thread: If they don't get some deal sorted with a European retailer, then they should just give it out for free to all EU prepurchasers - It's the only fair thing to do.

The only Mount Doom here is the one being made out of this slightly enhanced molehill
