Rule Number One.
Anything good with 0 listings is underpriced.

that doesn't make any sense.

I don't like the thumbnail format, guess i'll just have to hand-edit it to the proper size.

If it were any good, people would have tons of outstanding bids on it, even if they were throw-away "flash-crash" bids.

Ooh, a sarcasm detector. Oh, that's a *real* useful invention. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...t-sarcasm.html

While there's a certain amount of sense in the goat's rule, you can't be sure on low volume items like this without seeing the lvl 10 and 12 versions and their histories. It's also entirely possible that all 7 bids are at 5,111,111 trying to get a bargain (although that would be much more likely on the recipe than the crafted enh).

For there to be zero bids on an item either:
a) no one wants one , or
b) everyone that wants one has one

[ignoring c) the market UI is broken again]

Neither of which indicate that the item is overpriced, if anything it indicates the opposite. If the item was overpriced there would be unfilled bids (offering a lower price) although unfilled bids alone do not indicate an overpriced item.

Ummm....am I missing something here?

There are 7 bids but none for sale.

That would suggest that there is demand, but no supply.

You can be absolutely sure that *anything* good (this is the operative word- good. If it's good, volume is irrelevant) with 0 listings is underpriced. Buyers know it's good and they are sucking up 100% of the supply. A smart seller notices this and prices accordingly.

The price of adjoining levels has no bearing. As we speak I'm buying up a different 'good' recipe. I'm getting it for around 200k at one level, 3 million at another and 5 million at another. I'm selling all three of them for around the same price and making a grotesque profit on the lot.

This is why it's useful to know the value of items independent of what other players are selling it for. The 0 listing thing is a shortcut to spotting value.

I'm doing a search in the market for 'good' but not getting any results.
Please provide a list.

For example, I recently sold a lvl30 LOTG 7.5% recharge recipe for 180million. There were 0 listings when I posted it and the last 5 sales were all from 90mil-150mil. I posted for 180 and simply waited a week. presto! the wantitNAO! shoveled out the cash.

Triumph Lurker: mintmiki 50 emp/archer
basically, if you see a miki on Triumph, it's probably cute and it's probably me.

Huge thanks to cuppamanga and all the folks in the mac help forum for prolonging my borrowed time on this game.

Yeah, I think that really irks some people. They can see that there is one for sale and they can almost feel it in their figurative hands. So they keep bidding higher and higher until they get it.

I figure I can always make more inf so up to a point I don't care what I pay as long as I have it.

Exactly!

LotG recharges were where I first discovered the rule, way back when.
Until I publicly 'outed' my niche I was consistently buying them for 20-30 million and selling them for 100+.

Nice to see it still works even in our modern merit-infested world.

What prompted this was when I was making money off regen tissue +regens. I forget the precise levels involved at the time, but the effect was level 10s turned up in decent volumes and sold at x. Level 12s turned up in decent volumes, sold at roughly x and there was plenty of supply of both. The last level 11 turned up way longer ago than the last 5 10s or 12s and sold for 60% more. Prices had dropped since the last one turned up, it would not sell for a looooong time if you put it up at more. People would just be looking for a low level one, 10, 11, 12, 13 are all the same to them, and they'd grab the low hanging fruit.

I wish I had another one stockpiled so I could sell it for 60.
For the record, I listed that one at 41.

also, I never thought I'd see the day but I just bought and crafted a full set of Crap of the Hunters for this character. =/

Wow. I have crazy amounts of Karma and Steadfast KB protection crafted IOs across all the levels. I quite selling them quite some time ago after prices dropped to where I was only making 2-3M profit per sale. Looks like it's time to unload some of my excess.

they flatlined during Meow Fever etc etc.
Now that they've got MA semi under control the really low level ones have bounced back.

Yes indeedy, and that's how I bankrolled my heroes when I started with a clean slate blueside. Run lowbie MA arcs and roll bronze 10-14.

#2 is the capslock reiteration of #1 to make sure it sinks in.

Also I made 10 million more on the second sale, implying that even a ridiculous price you pull out of thin air could still be too low if demand is high enough and supply low enough.

Do you know the three rules of Real Estate?

I'm waiting for Goatrule #3.

Took me a while to figure out what you are saying but that makes total sense.

I recently did that with a particularly valuable recipe, listing it for 7 times the normal price, then discovering the next time that I could even get 40 times.

A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!
