Further PvP/Ladder
I might be wrong
I might be wrong
I could've sworn I saw a light coming on
I used to think
I used to think
There was no future left at all
I used to think
Open up, begin again
Let's go down the waterfall
Think about the good times and never the bad
Never the bad
What would I do?
What would I do?
If I did not have you
Open up and let me in
Let's go down the waterfall
Have ourselves a good time, it's nothing at all
It's nothing at all
Nothing at all
Never look back
Never look back
I think, honestly, right now there are only about four teams that would be ready whenever. So, concerns that can be checked off of a list. I can see an easy 2-3 more, though.
As far as deciding on limitations for roster size, etc, we'd have to wait and see what's possible with the collective interest. Until then, things are in the air. Yay for juggling, but we'd need to decide if it's 6v6 or 8v8. I know everyone would prefer 8v8, but it may not be viable. I also know a lot of people would rather not participate if it isn't 8v8. Still, we'd need to sort that out before we could even take a look at some of the other things.
Obviously premature to start some thread with posting rosters just yet, but we need to get a general idea.
We may need to do some serious people wrangling, but after that things should hold for themselves. There are some groups of players that have a solid core foundation of four or five that can be motivated to go out and get a team together.
We just have to push it along, unfortunate as that may be.
Lets the d6's step up and make their own groups.
1. If there were no roster size limitations, how many teams would we realistically be expecting? 2. How many people do you think would be willing to captain (because placing roster limits doesn't translate into ladder growth if people aren't willing to step up to start and captain new teams)? 3. Would you be willing to captain? 4. How many teams do most people consider to be the minimum before even attempting a ladder? . |
1. 4-6 I'd say. If dUmb, u2bg, SMD, another team, maybe Kat's and a couple of other teams signed up we could have 6. If memory serves, our best days on Test had 10-11 teams but I think the vill ladder had 3-4 teams...which can lead to leapfrogging randomness, haha.
2.Eh, I think that what we have now is what we have. There may be a situation where someone new gets enthusiastic about making a team but then it peters out.
3. No, sorry. I'll certainly help out as much as I can.
4.At least 5, perhaps 6. It would be pointless if say...dUmb, SMD and u2bg were the ladder and the 2-3 spots kept leapfrogging each other heh.
Overall I think a ladder might draw more interest in that you could have your one day per week of challenges (Weren't these Thursday and Sunday in the day?) and so on. Since Ladders are self-sustaining, they'd never end so you would need to reward the top team at the start of each month, I guess. Forum titles are out but maybe gold titles or something to show you won that quartile.
Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!

PvP is what keeps most of us here who are reading this, I say we take a little break (month) then get back into something...
One of the best parts of the previous league was how we were almost forced to reach out and discover new PvP talent. I know i've met a lot of cool people to team up with in the arena that I never knew previously. Since NCsoft isn't doing S**t to help the PvP in this game it's up to us to keep it alive and the only way to do that is to keep bringing new people into it.
If another league or ladder starts we need to have more teams... 4 teams does not cut it and it gets old really fast. I hope that this league has opened the interest of some of the new players to possibly start their own teams and compete... Win or lose we are all here to have a good time and learn from our mistakes.
I say we start ASAP as opposed to the whole break thing cause if kids take a break they'll prolly realize how bad this game is x10 and not come back
I'd be down but my wife will probably divorce me... it's cool though as long as someone hooks me up with one of the CoH hotties...
Just get her to start playing a tank/brute. Nobody dies on one of those in matches....well almost nobody. (hai kat).

I've tried the play together CoH approach... I got the big F**k You
Klesk just get someone that sounds like ajax or frost elf d to talk to her lol
Also i say we do the ladder the old school way but we put our twist on the way matches are done so that they are done more frequently
Klesk just tell her you gotta do it since you were League MVP
btw I vote Klesk mvp
Taking a break, in a way, would be fine. But it's gonna be a bit before anyone's ready/able to start matches anyway. So, as far as the legwork, setting the foundation for this ladder is still important to get to right now.
Basically, if you're not already on what will probably be a team, you should be bugging friends into possibly leading, or choosing to do so yourself. =P
Still, I see this probably having much more interest and going more smoothly. Being able to keep the blind line-up subs is nice, but tossing points to the side and going back to best 2/3 is another vast improvement.
no matter what starts up again for a pvp event or ladder, i am interested and will partake.
So far so good.

If it's one night a week and I can call practices and not show up and I have a break first and I can have 47 people on dUmb rooster...

Two naughty acronym teams / Ascension / Convenient / Artic and the Chillz / Fap / Other teams I can't remember (sorry.. mind is goin')
I'm super-de-doody delighted about this if this happens.
1. 4-6 teams to start.
2. I assume that each team would have at least 2 captains per. But I don't think the limit for captains should be set at that number.
3. I would be willing to captain, unfortunately. I hate leading, but that responsibility seems to fall on me regardless.
4. At least 5-6 teams as the minimum to start would be encouraging.
Personally I would copy the overall template from the old ladder, throw in a few of the rules from the current league that just took place, tweak to your liking, garnish, and we're good.
That basically comes down to:
- 8v8s, with a 6v6 minimum and compromise rule that allows teams that are low on players to run 8v7/7v6, if necessary.
- Best of 3 series for officials. Personally I'd opt to say that all 3 matches should be played with "Random" as the selected map option (sorry dUmb). Also, with a series of 3, we effectively defeat the need for draw teams to be used, as nothing comes from earning a draw in a match (sorry CIGAL).
- Matches aren't set for concrete times on a weekly basis, but rather, scheduled between team captains in private (or on the boards) in order to generate more interest from the community, ie: spectators, word of mouth, etc.
Implementing a ladder that is similar to the old one allows more teams to form up. Rather than create a "draft" with a deadline, teams can continually recruit, and new teams can form and enter the ladder at their leisure, which puts no limit on the amount of players that can come and go. Again, I think the old ladder worked well in that regard, and if we tweak it with new rules that consider the current format with PvP, we would have the groundwork laid out before us without causing too much of a headache.

What he said.
I know there were a couple of threads a few weeks back where people were tossing around ideas, but I've had a few people recently ask me about what happens next. We know anything that stands a chance is going to require numbers, and it's hard to judge where those numbers are atm (imo, anyway). I know a number of us are in need of an organized PvP break, others are really anxious for another league or ladder, others say they are just done, and others are simply seeing what else develops.
Personally, I'm ready for a break from league stuff, but I'd like to see organized, team arena PvP keep going. But if we're going to talk about a ladder, I'd like to get a feel for what people are thinking.
Let's assume an 8v8 ladder. I know there are probably mixed opinions about roster size limitations, but:
Personally, I'd answer:
1. 4...with basically teams of U2BG, SMD, and then a couple of teams made up of a mix of dUmb, CIGAL, EP, and INOANN.
2. I'm guessing about 4 again, unfortunately.
3. I'd probably be willing to captain/help captain a team.
4. I think less than 6 would get old really fast.
I'm not very optimistic about this atm, but I might be wrong (Peril should like that).
